Diner Reviews
  • "The food was very good and I appreciated some creative twists to standard items (e.g., the monkfish had a very nice accompaniment with it that brought out the flavors well). Service was attentive and not too intrusive."

  • "Very attentive and friendly wait staff. Great food. We eat very early so we can catch our train back home. Just a few couples when we came in, but crowded by the time we left. Not noisy. Service was not rushed at all. Great help with choosing a wine."

  • "Ordered the Turbot from Holland and the fish was perfectly prepared and was delicious! Service and friendliness was excellent."

  • "We had a great dinner. I had halibut and my husband pasta with shellfish. Both were delicious as was the minestrone. Portions were large so we had lunch the next day."

  • "There is nothing to say but good things about this restaurant. Great food, great wine list, great atmosphere. We had a wonderful meal with our friends and would definitely be going back. The staff was incredibly attentive and the food so delicious. All in all a great dinner."

  • "We went for a work dinner and they were flexible with our party arriving all within 30 minutes of our reservation. The food was amazing and such a great menu. I hope to get back and try more!"

  • "We had a lovely time at PSD, served by friendly and attentive waitstaff in a relaxed and leisurely way. All of us thoroughly enjoyed what we ordered, including the gluten-sensitive on among us. In fact, the server thoughtfully made sure to let her know for each course what was gluten free. She enjoyed gluten free pasta with the sauce of her choice, a bolognese that she loved; she also very much liked the minestrone sans pasta. Another found the ahi with caponata most tasty. The kale salad with a caesar type dressing was tasty as well. The pappardelle with wild boar sauce was delicious with a rich flavor. And the eggplant timbale filled with ricotta was adorable and yummy, the eggplant tender, the tomato sauce surrounding it just right."

  • "...compared to the original Piccolo Sogno. I've been there and had an amazing experience. The experience at Due was OK but nothing special. The server was not great - hard to find when we needed him and distracted. The food was good, but not as great as I remember it at the orignal restaurant. I had the special fish and it was good but not out of this world. We might have just picked the wrong orders. I'd give it another try but I wasn't impressed with this particular visit."

  • "We love Italian food and the ambiance of Italian restaurants and this one did not disappoint us! Excellent service by all staff, which truly worked as a team with even the manager pitching in to make sure we had everything we needed when we needed it/wanted it. The food was great and prepared just the way we ordered it. The staff was very courteous and offered great suggestions for wine, entrees and dessert. Loved the salmon!"

  • "Once again river north proves to be over-priced and subpar. I love the original piccolo sogno but "due" did not measure up. The service was great and the Italian-speaking waiters was a nice touch but the bland and expensive food and business-like formal atmosphere was nothing like Italy. The restaurant lacked ambiance and the food lacked flavor. The burrata?Tasted like unidentifiable mozzarella. The octopus? No salt at all. The pizza? Like cardboard topped with crushed tomatoes and string cheese. Even the salmon needed salt. I was holding out hope for the chocolate torte of the night but even that failed me when we were presented with a dense bland torte that didn't even taste like chocolate. $120 for that sub-par meal was a real shame."

  • "Reservations are never difficult at this restaurant, unlike the original. The food and wine selection is excellent, service is always great and the atmosphere is nice. It has an upscale and romantic vibe, lots of windows with good lighting and an overall great atmosphere. We have been back numerous times."

  • "We might have caught the restaurant on a slow night which was perfect for a quiet dinner. The food was as good as the Piccolo Sogno Uno."

  • "Took a friend for her birthday. Seated promptly at our reservations time at a lovely table. Our server maybe just abit overeager but settled down once we waved him away a couple of times. I love the ambience and décor at Piccolo Sogno Due (and even spotted a minor celebrity dining there). Food always wonderful. The waiter or hostess must have heard us wishing our friend a happy birthday as they brought out a dessert for her which was nice."

  • "My partner and I were recommended to Piccolo by a Chicago native living in DC. What a treat! Every aspect was wonderful."

  • "Our group arrived for lunch and were seated immediately. Prompt, polite service, but not overbearing. All dishes we ordered received rave reviews (Lasagnette, Gnocchi, Eggplant Ravioli). The restaurant will adjust dishes to accommodate special tastes, e.g., using vegetable broth, instead of chicken broth for vegetarians. Lovely desserts."

  • "Quality of food and plating was excellent and beautiful. Huge portion size however, was unable to finish any of the courses presented. In my opinion, leftover food only means better value! Bright decor, great for breakfast/brunch/lunch. Nice quiet ambiance, more suitable for an older, professional crowd."

  • "Brought the client, my boss and co-workers here recently for dinner. I called a day ahead and they were able to accommodate our group of 6. Large restaurant with great antipasti table at the front. The bread basket was filled with interesting items and all meals came out looking great. The service that night was very good though some in our party had been before with different results. It's a cool place with good food and was way busier and a ton louder when we left at 9:30 than when we arrived at 7. Overall it was a very good experience."

  • "We went during Chef's Week and had a three course lunch. It was wonderful. My husband said it was one of the best meals he has ever had. The grilled octopus was delicious as was the black spaghetti with seafood. I had a salad with oven roasted seafood. It was excellent. We are very anxious to go back and highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "The waiters are very nice and have a sense of humor. Nice service! Food is in great portion - much more than I expected. A bit too salty and sour for the taste. Overall it is a great place to dine with friends and I will come again."

  • "Not only were we very impressed with the delicious food, but we were on a time crunch due to arriving late (traffic) and needing to get to a show. The staff made our experience stress-free and quick, although it never felt rushed. We were so grateful that they were able to accommodate our schedule."

  • "We dine out at least twice a week. Our meal at Piccolo Songo Due was excellent. Service was attentive without being over-bearing. The wine list had a decent selection and a realistic price range. All of our entrees were well seasoned and presented attractively."

  • "Have eaten here several times with great success. On this trip the prosciutto was bland and melon - neither ripe for flavorful in the appetizer. The lamb was chewy - not tender. I sincerely hope quality does not drop, as this is a favorite spot."

  • "We had a group of 8 very diverse diners come together for a birthday celebration at Piccolo Sogno. I was a little worried because there were a couple of picky eaters (by picky I mean non-adventurous) and I wasn't sure how they would react to the somewhat sophisticated menu at Due. But there was nothing to worry about. We had a couple of pizzas and the calamari for appetizers and everyone loved them all. I think each person tried something different as their entree and all received rave reviews. We split three of the desserts amongst the table, and again, everyone unanimously loved them. The service was great and they accommodated folks trickling in at different times. Thank you to Piccolo Sogno Due for providing a memorable birthday dinner."

  • "Never disappointed here. Their signature branzino (sea bass) is phenomenal, as is the octopus. Desserts are also reliable. Quirky and bright decor. Lively at lunch, romantic at night. A winner all round."

  • "We picked this spot at random and we got very lucky. The food was great and their wine list is notable. I will be back."

  • "I have been here before and loved it. However, I went for Valentine's Day this year and it was not great. The wine was really bad and food was mediocre at best. I think I prefer the original Piccolo Sogno."

  • "Great food, options for everyone. Being pregnant, the waiter recommended a great mocktail."

  • "We had a wonderful time dining here. We were with our adult kids, a party of 4, and because we were there fairly early, it was not loud and we could talk and relax. Didn't feel rushed, service was excellent, we all enjoyed each item we ordered and would recommend the restaurant for sure."

  • "Good location and great place for lunch. The pastas at this restaurant are outstanding."

  • "PS Due was perfect. The greeting at the door was warm and efficient. We got the table we asked for. Our server was sensitive to our needs and timing (we were not in a hurry and took our time). And the food was spectacular. If you like Mediterranean sea bass perfectly prepared, there is no better place. But seafood is not the only specialty. Our table enjoyed an incredible pasta and a risotto. All in all, our dinner was a perfect experience and I already look forward to my next visit."

  • "Not the first nor the last visit. The pasta dishes are sublime, the wine list is outstanding and the service is attentive without being intrusive. I appreciate the knowledgeable staff and personal attention in working through a very thoughtful and creative menu and matching the wines. Good for dining on business or with friends."

  • "I took a client to lunch here, and we both enjoyed the food, service, and ambiance. Although the noise level was a bit higher than expected for lunch, I had a wonderful experience and look forward to my next meeting at this location."

  • "Went here on a Saturday night with a group of girlfriends. Food was amazing once we were able to order. It was hard to track down our waiter. Maybe it was an off-night for him. This is my second time here and the first time I had a wonderful experience. At the end of the day I would go back again; the food is very good and the ambiance is nice and lively."

  • "Surprisingly disappointing.Food was not as good as the last time and service was slow considering the limited amount of people who were there."
