Piccolo Ristorante ItalianoSmall place that has changedSmall place that has changed owners/cuisines at least 3 times in 5 years. We hope this one sticks, because the food is very good, and the staff, from the owner to the bus boy, provide great service. This may become our go-to place when we can't decide where to eat.
Red sauce is simple, straightforwrad, not too spicy. Specials have been very good. My chicken parmgiana on my most recent visit (of 3) was uninteresting, but sill probably 3-stars, and everything else has been 4 or 5.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat new place!Piccolo is a gem in Menlo Park. Get the fiochetti-- it is out of this world! The waiter is very friendly. They pour a big glass of wine, which is great. The prices are decent yet competitive with other Menlo Park restaurants.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was very good; serviceFood was very good; service was attentive. Noise level was high. We were just a party of two, and sometimes had a hard time hearing each other.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first visit toThis was our first visit to Piccolo. I had a wonderful pasta dish, my husband had the chicken cutlet which was delicious. We also started with a nice salad and crostini appetizer--everything was terrific. Service was great and we look forward to eating there again. We will probably be regulars. Wishes to them for success.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThis difficult to find restaurantThis difficult to find restaurant is a great addition to Menlo Park. The service was great as was the food. I found the prices cheaper than similar establishments in the area, which is an additional plus.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI was looking for a midweek,I was looking for a midweek, local dining spot and came upon Piccolo on Open Table. It is tucked on a quiet side street and is a darling restaurant. We were greeted promptly, with a smile and promptly seated. The bread was perfect; crusty and delicate at the same time. I was not drinking wine for the evening, but I would like to return to explore the wine list. We started with the salad with strawberries and avocado, perfectly balanced. I ordered the tortellini and my dining companion ordered the penne pasta pesto with chicken, both were delicious. The dessert menu looked delicious, but we passed for the night. Perhaps another trip to sample wine and dessert? Will definitely return.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMPiccolo's is great! We werePiccolo's is great! We were looking for a newish Italian food place and found out about the restaurant through Open Table and it sounded just right....which it was. We were a group of 4 senior ladies celebrating our birthdays and 40+ years of friendships. The waiter couldn't have been more accomodating. He was helpful, pleasant and expedient, AND gave us two desserts with candles on the house!!! We had a perfect corner table which was very comfortable and intimate. Loved that the restaurant only accomodates 12 as of course, that kept the noise level down. The food was outstanding, and two of us even ordered additional entrees from the menu to take home to our hubbys.
Look forward to returning to Piccolos and wish them the best.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been a couple timesWe have been a couple times in the last couple of months, and the service has always been very helpful. This last time we went, there was a larger group. Yes, it is a tiny restaurant, but they make the most of the space, and the food has been very tasty. Definitely will go to again. The only problem is that they are located off the main street, on a smaller side street, so unless you drive by, you may miss it. But that quiet location makes helps make the restaurant a hidden gem!3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMItialian comfort foodWe tried Piccolo because it is named after our cat, and because I was looking for some Italian comfort food. They came through. This is a small restaurant (hence the name, so is our cat) and it was not full this Wednesday night, making conversation easy. The table next door seemed to be practicing their Italian, which was charming. The waiter was attentive and the owner was friendly. The fava bean bruschetta was particularly good.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a new restaurant inThis is a new restaurant in Menlo Park and it is definitely worth trying. It's actually on a little alley just off of OakGrove Ave. They have tables set up outside so it's great to eat there on a warm evening.
The food was very good and the service was terrific.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA great neighborhood go-toA great neighborhood go-to restaurant without fuss and spur of the moment. All the dishes come out piping out especially the pasta dishes (which some of the fancier restaurant fail to achieve) and vegetables are fresh. The staff if very friendly and service is excellent. The price point is such that this will be a restaurant that we will frequent quite often in the future.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PMAnother great find, thanksAnother great find, thanks to OpenTable. Excellent veal with just the right amount of attention from the staff. Won't miss the opportunity to return on my next trip here.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
