  • "We went for DE restaurant week for lunch. The fried calamari was very tender but to the point that the breading was soggy. The "cobb" salad was good but needed more chicken, bacon & blue cheese. The chicken was shredded but you'd be hard pressed to find it at all. They only had vinaigrette dressings to offer - which is not what I'd think of when ordering a cobb. Settled for a pureed beet/goat cheese dressing - which was good."

  • "We had dinner here after seeing Bill Cosby at the Hotel duPont theatre. We went for the dinner buffet and was seated in the middle of the restaurant and I kept getting bumped by the waiter passing my chair. The table was a 2 seater and was not big enough to hold a plate we had already finished. Found it very ackward to place the plate on another table to clear the way. I really enjoyed the tortellini dish served that night - it was delicious. My husband and I also loved the desserts - so much we went and bought bigger versions of them in the to go area. Next time though, I'm asking for a better table."

  • "My family and I dined on the last day of annual restaurant week and enjoyed the offerings on the special menu. Discovered a lovely southern Italian wine. The three courses were delicious, sized right, and well-presented. Our waiter was very nice and didn't address us as "you guys", an unfortunate habit younger people have picked up. It was a special occasion for us and it felt like it."

  • "Dinner was very good. Server was very personable and attentive."

  • "All food was great, but the restaurant was not that busy and it took forever to get service in the beginning and even longer just to get bread. They need better waiters."

  • "Great food and service! A little hard to find for out-of-towners."

  • "A night out with friends.. We had made reservations so when we arrived we were seated promptly. Waitress came over right away and asked for our drink order. The place was crowded but not overly, it is loud in the dining area. We ordered our appetizers n entrees half hour or so later and did not receive our appetizers until an hour later. At the time we really didn't mind because we were catching up, our meals were very good, eggplant ravioli, pasta n shrimp was filled with flavor. All in all, good night and good food, service could have been a little better I would recommend it and I would go back again!"

  • "Great Sunday Dinner Buffet. Quality of food outstanding for the price."

  • "This restaurant has delicious Italian food and a lively atmosphere. The service was excellent. I just wish that the tables for two were not right up against one another. It takes away from an otherwise wonderful experience."

  • "We were seated at 1 of the 2 tables with VERY hard seats....almost outside dining seats. We were all a bit uncomfortable. Although the food was very good, we waited 55 minutes for our entree's and we had to ask the waitress for more bread.....45 minutes in to the wait. She also did not check on us after we received our food......not a very good waitress. Again....the food was great.....it was just uncomfortable and even though we had to wait, we thought our waitress should have been more on the ball."

  • "everything was outstanding, especially the service we received this time around. Even though this is not a family restaurant, my 3-yr old enjoyed a special plate made for her that's kiddie friendly (gourmet pasta with roasted vegetables!) and we had a wonderful time. There was a mino mix up on one of the entrees and the wait staff took care of it immediately. The food is rich and tasty, the wine selection was good. We definitely will be back there again."

  • "...we came upon Piccolino Toscana on a Sunday evening just before it started to snow. We had the Sunday buffet at our waiter's recommendation (he looked like Christoph Waltz). The food was marvelous, a great variety of hot and cold items. When we are in Wilmington again this will definitely be on our list to visit again."

  • "After about 25 years in Wilmington, you would have thought that this place would have worn out its welcome. Owner/chef Dan Butler still does an awesome job, at keeping both the menu and the atmosphere "fresh." Still authentically Tuscan cuisine, and still awesome!"

  • "My husband and I went here for brunch using a Groupon offer. The brunch consisted of an entree of choice and a small buffet. The food was good to excellent. I am a vegetarian and there were several options. Service was fantastic (something that seems to be lacking in most Delaware restaurants) and the atmosphere was great. The brunch price was a bit pricey ($20pp) but I felt it was a good value with the Groupon (I think it was $10pp). I will be back for dinner and would have brunch there again with some discount."

  • "We wanted to get away from our regular lunch places and go someplace different. I am really happy with our pick! Piccolina Toscana was great! Our waiter was fantastic and attentive. Someone in our party has a severe gluten allergy. She got a pizza with the gluten free crust and said it was the best she has ever had. She said she would go back again for the pizza alone. The portions were perfect for lunch. Thumbs up!"

  • "Salmon was very good but calamari was a little tough this time."

  • "We selected this restaurant, based on location in proximity to an event nearby, without any prior knowledge of the cuisine or ratings, since we are not from the area. Reading the menu does no justice to the food, as it was hard to envision and visualize the entrees based on the descriptions provided. The meals we had contained ingredients that were creatively combined, and spiked with good flavors. My vegetarian entree, a grilled eggplant ravioli, was one of the most savory meals I've had in a long while. My husband's meal, a braised beef ravioli, was flavorful and cooked to perfection. What a delightful surprise to have discovered this excellent restaurant. I wish we lived closer to it!"

  • "Used a $39 Groupon coupon (two entrees, one appetizer, one dessert), great value. Excellent service, great meal. Handled my wife's gluten-free request with no trouble, willing to make almost anything on the menu GF."

  • "It was our first time there and we enjoyed the Sunday brunch buffet. Like the decor, the quality of food and our server. Its a bit on the pricy side and was annoyed that the coffee was extra. Its brunch buffet and coffee/non-alcoholic drink should be included in the price. The place was also a bit disorganized, the place wasn't even packed but noticed some of the items at the buffet table went empty, it wouldn't been issue if there were a large selection to choose from but it can be negative when there are very limited selections at the buffet table. By the way, the menu was also very limited as well."

  • "Good and attentive service. Not the qualify and range of menu they used to have. But dependable and pleasant for a weeknight. Dessert menu needs an overhaul."

  • "We arrived just before our reservation and were seated promptly. We then waited around 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. There were servers walking around but it was like we weren't even there. Finally as a waiter was at the table next to us I loudly mentioned that it has been 20 minutes and still no service, and he heard me and came around to say he would be with us shortly. Decent wine list with many affordable bottles and the food was good. Service was poor through out the night. I was pouring my own wine and we never had a water refill. For the price of the restaurant the service needs to be better. I will still give it another shot based on food but it might just be take-out."

  • "Monday's can be tricky days to fine a good restaurant. Piccolina Tosccana is within walking distance of my Trolley Square home. So when snow was in the forecast it made it the perfect place for lunch. When an special dinner for a guest from Britain became mine to plan at the last minute and he wanted Italian--there was only one choice. So twice in one day!"

  • "Piccolina Toscana used to be a favorite restaurant. It had a varied, delicious menu and the option of half-portions. First, it eliminated half-portions, but the full serving sizes were like half-portions at double the price. Then it scaled back it's offerings. Last, but not least, the food became terrible. Of our three entrees, on Friday, one was awful, one was passable and the third was pretty good, but minuscule in size. We won't be going back."

  • "For something a bit different try Piccolina Toscana. Fresh ingredients and great service will keep us coming back. Mozzarella made in house was creamy & moist, as well as the house made pasta. Our server, Brian made several recommendations that were excellent and we tried all of them. Don't miss the warm apple pie with the caramel ice cream. Already looking forward to our next visit!!"

  • "Service was spotty and there was bus group there so the Buffett line moved very slow the setup of the buffet didn't give the kitchen staff a good flow could have been from to many people in line also eggs were cooked hard when asked for runny"

  • "But I can't say it was fantastic. Service was attentive, but not overly so. Food was well-presented...just not that tasty."

  • "Having never heard of Piccolina Toscana before, not from Wilmington, you never know what you're actually going to get, and it was awesome! We purchased a Groupon to use on the same night we saw a show at the Dupont Theater, somewhere that was close, and it did not disappoint. Great wine, great appetizers, great food, great dessert, great atmosphere and great service, Jon our waiter was the best!"

  • "we were here for Sunday brunch. Our server, who also seated us seemed very frazzled all morning and was never around when we needed him.we didn't get bread and that was very strange because all the other tables got wht looked like fresh warm rolls and what we got, even after asking for bread was cold dry Danish pastries. All we wanted was bread to hav with our soup and salads. the entree of baked French toast casserole was chewy, dense and seemed like a a big blob of bread squeezed together with absolutely no flavor and I couldn't tell if there were any eggs binding it all of together. The buffet spread was good but desserts lacked quality, the cannoli shell was soggy, mousse had split and everything jus seemed off.Wouldn't go back."

  • "We loved returning to Toscana"s upscale italian restaurant for lunch after a substantial number of years had passed. It did not disappoint. It was busy, but the service and food was very good. The butternut ravioli in sage browned butter sauce with pine nuts was special. Bring friends and linger over coffee."

  • "We've been to Toscana for years, in its many manifestations. As Piccolina Toscana we have found it very good in both service and food quality, although the portions are rather small. However, on New Year's Eve, it all fell apart. The waiter got the order wrong, and one of our party had to wait so long for dinner she received it when we were ready to leave. The quality of the food was just ok as well, nothing special. They also didn't have the particular type of pasta one of our party asked for. Some of the entrees were so small that it was laughable. I should say that they did not charge us for the expensive missing dinner. Our experience there has overall been good, but I don't think we'll be back for any really busy times."

  • "We had a delightful meal. We gave the kitchen a chance to show off abit by making our dinner up with four "small plates" that we shared. The fun of the evening was cheered along by the thoughtful and considerate service."
