A word from Piccola Cucina Osteria - Spring St.
Piccola Cucina Spring Street was the second US restaurant for Piccola Cucina and opened in Januray 2013 in the heart of Soho. Friendly service with a buzzy atmosphere, all in a typical Italian restaurant setting. It is matched by home cooking like you would expect to eat in Italy which is one of the keys to the success of the restaurant. Great care is taken by the chef in choosing the freshest ingredients according to season. Continued

  • "Truly fresh and delicious food and great service. Ma mall space but you don't feel crowded. First visit, will definitely return."

  • "We arrived on time for our 9pm reservations for 2 and were told it would be a 10 to 15 min wait, however the restaurant is so small that there is literally no place to wait but outside in the cold. After waiting for 10 min outside, 4 people walked up to the restaurant without reservations and were told if would be a 10 min wait. 5 min later they sat the table of 4 and told us it would be another 5 minutes. We were in complete shock that they would sit a party without a reservation ahead of us, especially since every table in the restaurant is a 2 top that they push together to accommodate larger parties. The host could care less, so we left."

  • "We booked on the internet from England, due to the reviews. The food was fantastic, possibly the best Italian food we have ever eaten. The folk are extremely friendly, and we had a really great evening!"

  • "This place is obviously popular given the packed dining room throughout our stay. So, I'm guessing it was just the style of Italian I didn't find that appealing. My lobster linguine was just okay. The starter meatballs not terribly inventive. I would recommend to a friend, but probably would not go back."

  • "Booked a table for 8 at 2:30pm on a Saturday where it was pouring. We arrived a few minutes early and were told that our table would be ready in about 10 minutes or so. After 5 minutes, when we observed from outside in the pouring rain (the restaurant is that small) that our intended table was just receiving their meals, we looked elsewhere and ate next door. This restaurant is so small that accepting reservations for more than 6 people should be out of the question."

  • "If you can deal with no elbow room, then you will enjoy this restaurant. Limited space used to capacity. Well worth the wait to get in and the lack of space. Each and every item we ordered was delicious. We will be returning."

  • "This is a great place. We sat down for a party of 11. To please so many for a party very big seems very impossible but they did it, and they did well. The good was placed at the same time, pasta was clearly home made. Everything was delish. We shared, we had fun. This is a great place. Small like many places in Europe (as explained to me) . Francesco was amazing. Wine list plenty. He was great with suggestions. Pasta cannot be bought in a supermarket and that's what makes it great. Pesceterian was pleased with calamari. Never breaded grilled and squid ink pasta was intoxicating. I had to thank the staff was leaving"

  • "The words great and little are really literal. Food was beautifully prepared and presented at this family run charming place in the Soho section of NYC. I can't wait to go back."

  • "We loved the pasta dishes we ordered -- fresh and tasty. But, the tables are quite cramped together and the acoustics are bad (so the noise level from nearby conversations is too loud)."

  • "Felt like I was in a small town in Italy. Very generous portions and the cuisine is true to Italian style."

  • "Our dinner was fantastic. The service was impeccable. Our waiter provided us with wonderful suggestions which we happily took throughout the dinner. We were offered a taste of several wines before we settled on our preferred wine for evening. Appetizer suggestions were bang on and simply delicious. We had the Arancini and Polpette (tiny meatballs) to share. The fresh pasta items were all tasty and well prepared. Our table ordered the fresh ravioli, pasta with wild boar ragu and truffles, and pasta with eggplant sauce and sausage. All were delicious! Watching the 3 boys work in the tiny kitchen was entertaining and seeing/tasting what they could put out onto our plates was a great experience. Thank you for a wonderful evening."

  • "The restaurant was wonderful except that they took a reservation for 11 and really didn't have the space. We were on top of each other. Other than that, all was well. Every one of the 11 thought the food was terrific!"

  • "This cute little restaurant was very nice…good food and great service. Small quarters….tables next to one another, but comfortable nevertheless. The owner has a few other establishments noted on the menu. If you are looking for a good casual meal and don't need extra privacy, this is a great choice!"

  • "Great spot. Very small, so I'd try to make reservation if possible. Everything was very fresh. We had the Arancini, and they were awesome (I'm Sicilian). The burrata was so good, I wanted to get another one. The octopus was delicious. For my entrée, I had the past with lamb ragu, it was spectacular. The pasta is homemade and you can taste the difference."

  • "The restaurant kindly let us keep our reservation despite having to move it back 20 minutes. The meal was delicious - home cooked Italian comfort food at extremely reasonable prices, presented elegantly. The space is certainly small but the food makes it worth it - I'll be back."

  • "Although the restuarant is small in size, the food and service were excellent, They feature a number of homemade pastas and the pastas tried by us were amazing. An added bonus, the prices for the food and wines were very reasonable."

  • "The service at Piccola Cucina was outstanding! My wife and I are not picky eaters so we let the server pick both the appitizer and main course for us. Everything was delicious! I would highly recommend the swordfish appitizer."

  • "This review is overdue - Celebrated Christmas dinner with family - Dec 22, 2013. Maitre'd Ivan was great. The service was awesome. Great wine list and the food - simply amazing!! A very small restaurant but Ivan and staff made every effort to make us comfortable. Been to italy a few times and Piccola Cucina has the best authentic italian food in NY. Definitely will return and recommend the place. Just remember, it's tiny place but with a great staff that will make you feel at home. Ivan, thanks for making our Christmas dinner unforgetable. Ciao!!"

  • "first things first .. The place is tiny . At one point there was a table of twelve , our table (6) and a 4top...THATS IT it reminded me of Christmas eve dinner at my itailan grandmothers house with everyone eating in one room .. Everyone having a great time. the music was perfect . At certain songs they cranked it up and everyone started signing , even the chef . The wine list was great and the staff was more then happy to help pick out a nice bottle ..or two....or three.. The food was OUTSANDING .. Not one issue with any of the plates . The portions where perfect The desserts .......AMAZING One down fall ..NO BAR IN THE RESTURANT .. So don't expect to get there early and have a drink at the bar while you wait Will return again"

  • "I love this place, the Sicilian food is delicious, the lunches are the biggest bargain in Soho, and the people are lovely. No better grilled sardines anywhere in the five boroughs. Though hard to go without getting the tagliatelle with boar ragu. They play Sinatra and other right on music (for us oldies, perhaps), and it's the way Italian restaurant used to be when I was growing up in Greenwich Village. Except the food is much much much better."

  • "Tiny restaurant and perforce you are cramped. The tables are small as they have to be and close together. The service was attentive, courteous, and very nice. The food was simply delicious. This was Italian food the way I had it in Italy in neighborhood, not-at-all touristy restaurants. I would go back in a flash and recommend it to anyone."

  • "We enjoyed this quaint little place on a blistering cold Sunday evening. The service was friendly and the seventies POP in the sound system made it a fun respite from the cold. The food was fresh and flavorful. Food like Nonna would make. Delicious."

  • "Try the Cavatelli with porcini mushrooms and lamb ragout. Also, they do a pre-fixe menu during the week which is pretty wonderful. The desserts are delectable. Go for the crème brulee or the chocolate cake. I promise you will be very very happy."

  • "Absolutely loved Piccola Cucina Osteria because the food was excellent, authentic Italian, and very affordable. The service was great as well, everyone was very friendly, super friendly, and very customer oriented. I will definitely be back, BUT probably only in summer or fall because the restaurant was pretty cold. The front of the restaurant was a glass front, and the place unfortunately was very drafty. Our long table was also right next to the door, and as the restaurant was quite popular (and did not have a back exit for staff to enter) the door was opened very often, making the whole room even colder. I would have loved sitting longer, but it was just too cold. If it wasnt for the temperature, I would come back immediately!"

  • "We felt like we were visiting Italy - the place was warm, inviting, and cozy on a cold, rainy winter night. The arugula salad with tomatoes and grana padana was delicious. My husband loved his spinach and ricotta filled ravioli with sausage sauce, and I enjoyed the wild boar ragu with green tagliatelle. The service was attentive and we were made to feel special. We will go back, and we look forward to trying some of their other locations in Miami, Spain, and Italy."
