Our wine list features an eclectic collection of bottles from the best growing regions around the globe. Located in historic downtown Larkspur California, Picco offers a full bar, private dining rooms, and cozy booths in a brick and redwood setting. We were a party of 2 and I could barely hear my husband across the table. We literally had to time some of our conversation when the party of 6 next to us were quieter. The waiters and waitresses are really friendly and know the menu well. They won't steer you wrong (although you really can't go wrong with anything that you order at Picco. Varied and well-curated wine list. Be sure to order dessert!"

  • "My wife and I have enjoyed every meal we've had at Picco Restaurant. We normally start with one of the great wines on the menu, but we recently discovered the barrel aged Manhattan cocktail and suggest this (over ice) to anyone who loves a well balanced cocktail. The risotto, made fresh every 20 minutes, is our go to appetizer. The specials are always well crafted and enjoyable. On this visit we split the risotto, the Alaskan Halibut special, the gnocchi, and the broccoli di ciccio. We ended with the lemon poppy seed cake with berries and cream. Everything was delicious. The entire staff is always very knowledgeable and helpful when you just can't decide."

Three shared starters were imaginative combinations of ingredients and the tastes of individual components came through clearly -- the smoked trout was especially unforgettable. Main course portions were generous but not excessive, which left room for two all-star desserts, well up to the high standard of the earlier selections we had made. We were delighted with every element of the meal and will return as soon as possible!"

  • "Picco has been one of our favorite Marin restaurants for a long time. My wife and I go together, or with friends, at least 5 times a year. The food is good - especially from the top half of the menu. The wine list is great and several dishes at Picco (tuna tartare, risotto) are Marin staples. On our last two visits, however, the noise from the bar was so deafening that we could not have a normal conversation with our friends. I'm fine with people having a good time, it makes the place fun even, but this went way over the top. On Friday, several guys in their 40s were ripped and basically yelling at each other. Dudes, the Silver Peso is down the street if you want to get hammered."

  • "This is one of the best meals I have in a long time and I just recently ate at Incanto, Waterbar, and Coqueta in SF. The highlight for me was the vegetables which were perfect in each dish. The asparagus dish with pancetta and a poached egg was the best asparagus I've ever had...it was juicy!!! The agnolotti was perfect with the baby artichoke hearts. The fava beans and burrata were spot on. Every dish was well seasoned, balanced, and cooked perfectly. The service was forgettable and too casual. I never like when a server rests his arm on chair backs and doesn't smile at all. The food FAR exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be coming back."

  • "We joined friends for a belated celebratory dinner on Sunday -- Picco delivered! We shared -- as always. Avocado bruschetta, frites, albacore tuna crudo for starters -- I could have just done all that twice! Had both the spring risotto AND the gnocchi because we couldn't make a decision. Both delicious -- gnocchi was richer and the risotto was perfectly made and fresh. Our waiter was attentive and pleasant. What a delightful dinner with good friends, good wine, great food."

  • "The menu was different from our last visit, but everything was flavorful, fresh and totally consumed. It's my 'go to' restaurant when I want great food for all my guests. Many times, a restaurant only has a few 'outstanding' entrees, but at Picco, all of our selections were done to perfection. The restaurant noise is deafening, so it's a little difficult to have conversations with your guests. The back dining room is a little quieter, but it's still difficult to have a conversation. Perhaps putting sound baffles in the open beamed ceilings would diffuse a bit of the noise."

  • "We had always passed Picco's by because it looked so busy. When we finally tried it we realized the crowd was more about the bar scene than the restaurant. Our table was not far from the very busy bar, but was quiet enough to have easy conversation. Someone knows how to do good acoustical design. The service was warm and knowledgeable, and the recommendations were spot-on. Two small plates and an entrée...each delicious and distinct. As first-time visitors we were offered a lovely desert gratis. Well satisfied, we will be returning soon."

  • "The food was generally unremarkable. Only one of several dishes that we ordered were good. The room was unusually loud and it was very difficult to hear the server. They need some sound proofing - all hard surfaces. Most of the food was overly salty. Seems that many "great" chefs think flavor = salt. This was the case at Picco again. The service was fair. After a while, the hostess kept looking around the corner to see if we were leaving yet. Gave us the distinct feeling that we were expected to leave soon. Was pretentious and snobby too."

  • "Service was great. Were sat right away with a reservation. Plates cleared in a timely manner. Had about 5 different dishes with a friend. Asparagus dish and fava bean/burratta lacked flavor. Would not get again. Risotto was delicious but the full order is a very small portion. Meatballs were tasty. Dessert was yummy (coconut thing). Unfortunately, I left hungry ($180 dollars later) and finished off my leftovers from a dining experience the night before. I probably would not go again unless someone really wanted to go. Maybe I should have asked for some bread."

  • "We loved nearly everything about Picco! All of our food was delicious & beautifully presented. It was served dish-by-dish, so we had plenty of time to enjoy each before going on. I'll note that there are plenty of choices for vegetarians, and they're all delicious. The sommelier was helpful in finding a wine that we really liked. We were so full by dessert time that we were going to skip it but like all good restaurants they brought a little sweet anyway with a birthday candle so we had a few bites (softserve with hotfudge and salted caramel - yum!). The only negatives were that my husband said his decaf coffee was so-so (too weak), and the restaurant is pretty noisy. Nonetheless, we'd definitely go back."

  • "You know, I was so looking forward to dinner, but I have to say, I was a bit underwhelmed. I had been here once before 3 or 4 years ago and I was very impressed by every single dish. The other night, both the mussels and the scallops needed a bit of a kick in the pants. Flavors simply didn't pop the way the ought to have. Now, the bee's knees was another story. I love that cocktail."

  • "Picco is my favorite restaurant in Marin and I always have a fabulous experience. This particular time, the service and food was just so so. We ordered the sliders and nothing other than the carmelized onions came with it. No sides, no fries, no ketchup, no pickles, no tomatoes, nothing to even pretty up the plate. We asked for ketchup 3 times before someone brought it for us, mustard twice. First they told us they didn't have ketchup, then they told us tomatoes were out of season so they didn't have any. Then we ordered fries and the fries were burnt and oily. They said it was twice fried, but when we sent it back the waiter acknowledged it didn't look good and brought us another batch which was better but our food was finished by then."

  • "On my birthday a friend & I dined at Picco Pizzeria. Delicious avocado bruschetta; mixed greens - light & crisp; Margherita pizza, chewy crust, heavenly mix of tomato & basil. Rarely a dessert fan, I was coerced into having the Strauss ice-cream - van & choc w/ choc & caramel sauce & sea salt. A glass of rosé; oh, and a man sang 'Happy Birthday' to me. All around delicious. The next night a friend & I dined at Restaurant Picco, & everything was outstanding. Tyler, the waiter, was excellent, personable, attentive. Tuna tartare - a must each time. Grilled Brussel sprouts... kale salad beautiful mix of textures & flavors. Risotto w/ broccoli - a delicious comfort, & scallops w/ bacon stewed lentils - rich harmony of flavors. All delicious."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Picco. After the delectable Tuna Tartare starter came a procession of wonderful shared plates, showcasing the kitchen's expertise. It seems like you can't go wrong no matter what you order at Picco, but we absolutely loved the risotto, the dungeness crab salad, the kabocha squash with Moroccan spices, and the seared scallops. The Tcho chocolate cake was a sinfully delicious dessert with our coffee. Service was efficient and friendly without being obsequious. Picco is a bit of a splurge but it's well worth it."

  • "Picco's trademark dish is risotto which is excellent. However most of the other dishes, from salad to pasta has too much olive oil during my last two visits. A plate of tortelli was practically swimming in olive oil last night. The kale salad also had too much oil. Olive oil is not a substitute for seasoning. Additionally, if you sit in the "wine room" plan to be blasted by air from the floor vents. If this doesn't work for you, then sit up on the main floor."
