Picco RestaurantFinger lickin good!I love to go there on Wed. night for the fried chicken special of the evening (any other night is good too). The chicken is light and tender...the honey mashed potatoes divine....the collard greens like you have never tasted before... and to top off... the special they give you a Strauss soft serve ice cream root beer float. Service is great too.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful creative food, helpfulWonderful creative food, helpful and courteous staff -- a great experience all around6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining experienceFirst time at Picco's and we will be back. The food was excellent as was the service. The avocado bruschetta was delicious as was the freshly-prepared risotto. The baby green salad was fresh, and the pork chop was tender and flavorful. Fun, friendly atmosphere. (Not the place for a quiet, romantic dinner though.)6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of best in So. MarinDelicious food. Served in tasting mode makes it easier to sample more choices than per-person ordering.
Seating a little close and a bit noisy, but worth it!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMCreative food always well doneThis is one of the best restaurants in Marin. The food is clean and creative, no gimmicks, just well thought out, well cooked and well seasoned. The risotto is always delicious. The prawns were excellent. The stuffed squash blossoms were to die for. The hamachi opener was excellent. I would recommend saving room for dessert. The bread pudding won over the chocolate lovers at the table. The service was attentive and upbeat without being overbearing.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific food, great serverWe had some terrific food for a birthday celebration. The front desk needs work. We arrived for an 8:45 pm reservation - the lady at the front desk had left it for a few minutes - so a waitress filled in. There was some confusion as to who the next person in line was. The front desk lady came back - she did not have the confident, welcoming look required and was distracted - this is the most important job for connecting with a newcomer to the restaurant - the eye contact was just not there.
All was resolved with an excellent waiter who knew how to serve. We had delicious avocado bruschetta, wonderful pastas (one with duck confit) and the desserts were outstanding. I'd made a good choice. My husband was delighted with his birthday dinner.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently CreativeEasily the most consistently creative restaurant in Marin. The chef continually reinvents the risotto. Staples liek the avocado bruschette are scrumptious. And, new mouth-watering items are added to the menu regularly.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMUnvelievableThank you so much! I made reservations for my girlfriend birthday but unfortunately what we were in the mood for (pizza) couldn't be served in the main restaurant. My girlfriend and I got up and left to the pizza bakery and yes the wait was long but well worth it! The employees provided the most amazing service i have experienced. I dont know how but the waiter that attended us heard about the situation of our reservation and apologized for the inconvenience. Not only did she take ownership of the issue but she made us feel welcomed and appreciated. I made a reservation expecting amazing food. Not only did i leave pleased with the food, but i left amazed with the courtesy and service of the employees.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMIn a word: INCREDIBLE,!!Wow. How have we missed this place all these years? We would always head to Left Bank. The food at Picco was to die for, the signature drinks unreal (try the VooDoo - haven't a clue what's in it, but YUM). We'll be back- soon.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place needs to be experiencedFood and staff makes the experience of eating an adventure5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWinston Churchill's favored ginThere was much anticipation for this Mother's Day dinner and we had same wonderful food and service my family has grown to expect. Shortcomings were highly personal:The bar did not have my favored gin (Plymouth), the desert menu did not include our favored desert (those rasberry milk shakes), and the mussels, something new for me at Pico's, did not hit the home run I expected. The avocado bruchetta, the asparagus, and the risotta were fantastic. I can't wait to return. It had been too long.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNever DisappointedI have eaten at Picco many times and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent, the servers knowledgeable and friendly.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experience on all countsThis was our fourth visit and we've never been disappointed. Food is imaginative and delicious. Service prompt and attentive.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, the food was excellentAs always, the food was excellent and the wine suberb. Truly one of the best restaurants in Marin!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMPicco never failsHaven't been to Picco in a while but was able to grab a last minute reservation during the week. The asparagus was the highlight for me; served with prosciutto and burrata, drizzled with balsamic....perfection! The risotto, as always, was wonderful with corn and kale. We were up for something new is the drinks department and the waiter made great suggestions for gin, vodka and wine. All and all a terrific meal5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOur special occasion placeEverything was delicious. The service was unobtrusive, yet full of smiles and delight.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThough it was packed, we wereThough it was packed, we were seated right away for our reservation. The server was attentive and knowledgeable. Food came quickly and was scrumptious - every bite.
Pricey, but worth every penny4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food, high corkage fee!The food was off the charts amazing. Every bite was perfection. I can't say enough about it. We had oysters as a starter and they were fresh and beautifully presented. My favorite was the smoked sturgeon. It was packed with flavor and beautiful to look at.
All of our entrees were fabulous and ample in size.
My only complaint was the $45 corkage for the second bottle of wine. A little steep in my opinion. We still spent almost $300, even with our wine. I thought the service was a little slow, but the food was so good that I didn't care.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the Marin Mondays freshLove the Marin Mondays fresh farmers market menu!!!Always a treat.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe risotto lives up to itsThe risotto lives up to its billing. I mean, wow. I won't even try to describe it; it's that good. The restaurant is in a nice area of Larkspur, off on a corner surrounded by trees, which lends nicely to the setting. The clientele... well, it reminded me a lot of Del Mar in north county San Diego, for what that's worth. A lot of good people watching. The appetizer and entree were good, but the risotto is really the reason to go.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMQuiet in back room where weQuiet in back room where we were much more "energetic" in the main diningroom.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had been here previously,We had been here previously, about 3 years ago and remembered it was really good. On our most recent visit, it didn't disappoint. My wife and I are foodies and it was one of the best meals we've had in a while. Love the small plates and recommendations from the staff. Everything was prepared perfect and flavors were amazing. Will definitely be coming back again much sooner than our last 3 year hiatus.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice meal with friends.Very nice meal with friends. everything cooked perfectly.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a lovely anniversaryWe had a lovely anniversary dinner at Picco. The service was perfect -- attentive, very friendly, and not intrusive. We ordered the asparagus, risotto, mussels and quail. They were all lovely. My one criticism is that the mussels were lukewarm. Other than that, we really enjoyed the meal and would recommend highly Picco Restaurant.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst visit to Picco. WonderfulFirst visit to Picco. Wonderful meal, great food style of sharing plates. Service very attentive, food reasonably priced. Only wish Picco and similar Marin restaurants would have a reasonable alternative or two on their wine list. There are many wonderful Chardonnays for example that a restaurant can offer under $50. Found none at Picco. Discourages one from coming back.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMPicco is still greatI have never been disappointed with the food or service. The gnocchi may be a perfect dish.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food and great service.Amazing food and great service. The tables are just a little bit too close.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb Food, Service LackingExquisite food, pricey, small portions.
Great special occasion. Way too noisy
in most of restaurant. I would request
back room for quieter experience.
Ambience and food is excellent.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything about our diningEverything about our dining experience was OUTSTANDING...3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was very good. MyThe food was very good. My wife has a dietary issue and the staff was very helpful and understanding. We especially liked the avocado bruscetta, the ribeye steak and the chocolate cake.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good communication withVery good communication with the open table reservation.
Excellent service from the greeting hostess on down.
Timing of one of the main dishes a little off possibly because of miscommunication on how we wanted to split or get 2 dishes simultaneously.
Great wine selection.
Excellent risotto, tortellini, split pea soup etc.
Looking forward to trying the pizzeria.
Always loved the architecture of the building and the current treatment/details of the interior and lighting are the best to date.
Bravo.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe the asparagus and theThe the asparagus and the bussel sprouts were delicious. The pasta dish with artichokes was just OK.
I would recommend Picco for the food but it was so loud that it was hard to have a conversation.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMeverything was very good.everything was very good. The service was excellent. The noise was unconfortable.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great dinnerOur second time dining at Picco and both experiences were excellent. We also had the same server both times, Kelley R., who is not only a more beautiful version of Hillary Swank, but is very personable, welcoming and provided outstanding service. Every aspect of the food and beverage was perfectly executed and delicious! Would recommend this place to everyone!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent and creative selections,Excellent and creative selections, outstanding service, nice atmosphere. The tuna tartare was more of a memorable hit than the often reviewed avocado bruschetta. Wednesday night risotto: the possibility of the unique flavors was unfortunately overwhelmed by too much chili.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, very good. We hadOverall, very good. We had not been for several years and this was a better experience, although the main drawback remains the noise level and the relatively closeness of the tables. Service was attentive and food was well-prepared and presented. We would return.2/13/2013 12:00:00 AMamazing and easy to see whyFactoids:
1. Bar dining is fun here. Dustin is driven to make it so.
2. Food is unique and delicious, but if you want to get killer food, go for the papperdelle with fresh dungeness, the risotto, crudo appetizer and, oh, heck, it's all good.
3. Best french fries maybe in the world, I kid you not.
4. Very nice people work here and the owner/chef is one reason.
5. You might run into someone you know here. It's a vortex of conjuring up people from your past.
6. Best margarita I've had. Simple and delicious.
Okay, enough. I can't wait to try more of Picco's amazing food.12/17/2012 12:00:00 AM
