At Picca, Chef Ricardo Zarate serves modern Peruvian cuisine with a Japanese flair. You'll discover over 50 refined Peruvian dishes designed to be passed around the table.

From our ceviche and tiradito fare to more traditional Peruvian meals like carapulcra, roasted black cod over sun-dried potato stew, or seco de pato, duck leg confit in black beer sauce over cilantro rice, we hope you'll stop by and try Chef Zarate's cooking. We encourage you to sit at the chef's counter, and watch his entire team cook all night long.

In 2011, Chef Zarate was awarded the title of Best New Chef in America by Food & Wine Magazine. He has also been nominated twice for a James Beard Award and last year Picca was named one of the 10 best restaurants in the America by GQ magazine.

  • "I have eaten here twice in the last few months. The Music level is absurd. The menu is very interesting but needs direction from your server to sort out. Went on a Thursday the first time and the waiter was outstanding and guided us through the process. Went on this Monday hoping it would be quieter, but although the place was half empty the music was louder. Service was the worst I have experienced in LA in years. Staff and management needs training desperately. If you are not going to offer a gluten free menu (yes I am allergic) you have to train your staff on these basic issues. With Wine, it is called a decanter not a vase. when you order 9 dishes the first 7 should not come all at once and then you forgot about the last two."

  • "The food at Picca is great. The staff knows how to explain it and to make sure that the many small plates come out in an order that makes sense. However, it's tough to actually enjoy the meal. All of the walls are acoustically hard; the noise level makes conversation with ones fellow guests difficult and unpleasant. If sharing the plates with just one other person, they work. For any larger group it's tougher to make things go smoothly. Picca is one of those off places where good cooking and service still don't lead to a great meal."

  • "I have dined at all 3 of Ricardo Zarate's restaurants in LA (Paiche, Mo-Chica and now Picca) - Mo-chica is amazing, and Picca somehow managed to surpass that! Service was excellent, drinks were fabulous and the food and flavors were exceptional. Everything was cooked to perfection. Portions are nicely sized; not overwhelmingly large or irritatingly small. The waiter did an excellent job of explaining everything and recommending certain dishes and letting us know which were the most popular choices."

  • "We are regular diners at Picca and are never disappointed. The food is outstanding -- and every time we visit we try some new dishes and find them consistently pleasing. This time we tried a salmon dish with quinoa and were blown away with the taste. When it's just me and my wife, we like to sit at the Chef's Counter and watch the artful preparation of the food. And the service (ask for Molly or Gilberto) is spectacular, always friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and responsive to your needs. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Picca to others and have been fortunate enough to bring many friends there, who have since become loyal followers."

  • "I was really looking forward to coming to this restaurant, but two out of the 5 dishes we ordered were too salty too eat. The ceviche and the paella were so salty that they were inedible. The waitress was very nice and brought us complimentary cava and comped us a glass of red wine, but that doesn't necessarily make up for messing up the food. I was very disappointed and will not be going back."

  • "In the ever evolving Los Angeles restaurant scene Picca has been one of our favorite restaurants since the moment it opened. On our last visit our favorite seats at the chef's counter were waiting for us, along with a lovely offer of something on the house: a drink, a dessert, or.... They said they were so happy we were back. Service is excellent although they are very busy, so relax with a drink and let the evening flow, dish by dish. Sitting at the chef's counter is not only entertaining, but the guys who work in the kitchen in front of you are so proud of what they do you can literally see that pride on their smiling faces. The food, of course, is to die for, as usual. Great food, great place, AWESOME PEOPLE!!! We love you Picca!"

If it wasn't for the noise level and the fact that you are VERY close to the people at the table next you, this would be my all time favorite place to eat in Los Angeles. It is anything but intimate. That's okay though because the food makes up for it! Please finish your meal with the churros...best ever. Plan on taking your time and enjoying your food and the people around you. Our waiter Aaron was the bomb! He gave great suggestions was able to answer EVERY question we had about the menu (we had a lot) and was just present enough. A+ to Aaron!"

  • "We stay in the area every year after a big charity ride that ends in LA. We could not get into restaurant we usually go to so luckily I found Picca. It will be our staple for our Saturday evening celebration meal. We had a party of 7 and told the waiter to just choose from the various sections of the tapas-style menu. We were all blown away! Everyone was happy and talking about Picca the next day. In fact, each of us were thinking of a specific favorite dish when we awoke the next morning and still savoring our experience. Wait staff was wonderful! The cocktails were really cool--they do clear ice. No detail was left out. Thank you so much for accommodating our group and making our visit to Beverly Hills so memorable! We will return again!"

  • "My first time at picca was a genuine experience. The server was very relaxed and knowledgable. She gave plenty of suggestions which is great for people who don't know food terminology. I started of with the scallop sushi which was very light. Instead of your traditional sushi with rice it is substituted with a type of potato mash. Next I had the papa rellana (which is TO DIE FOR) my favorite dish of the night. Next I had the short ribs woth coleslaw rustico, reminded me a lot of hawaiian bbq. Lastly I had the sous-vide antichucho bone in rib eye 32 oz steak. I have to say it was delicious however it was a bit over seasoned. It was worth the price in my eyes. Over all great experience. They also gave me a call the next day. Avocado project"

At our request, our server chose our dishes. Each was flavorful and masterfully cooked. Our server's flexibility and her cheerful approach combined to make one of the best dining experiences my spouse and I have encountered. I would definitely return and recommend the place. If I lived in LA, I would dine there often."

  • "I hadn't been to Picca in about a year and we decided to go last Saturday night. It was still very good. I found some of the dishes a little more greasy than I remember them (for instance, the calamari in tiger's milk seemed a bit heavier), but the halibut dish we had with garlic and cucumber was just as good as I remember. The churros at the end of the meal are still fantastic. It seems like the menu is pretty much the same, so it might be time for a little updating here and there. However, the overall dining experience was still very good. "

  • "Excellent food and impeccable service. We just asked the waiter to bring us everything that was a huge hit at the restaurant. He brought a variety of items to sample for our group of 5. We had 16 different plates and all 3 dessert options. It was more than enough food and out of all those things, only 1 wasn't a huge hit. The quinoa vegetable salad is insanely good! The service was spot on, extremely knowledgable and kind waiter. THANK YOU!~"

  • "Picca is located just around the corner from the hotel we were staying at. After reading the reviews on tripadvisor we decided to give it a try and we were very impressed! This place has a distinctive menu like no other place I've been to but the servers are very knowledgable and guide you through the menu with ease. Pie favourite dish was the braised ox tongue, absolutely delightful! We also ordered the halibut ceviche with calamari which we did think had a tad too much ginger which became quite overpowering. However everything else was just lovely and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to friends and family. The one thing I would say is go in with an open mind and a willing to try new things! You wont be disappointed! "

  • "Picca is one of those special LA places where the food really speaks for itself. The dishes are fabulous from the top of the menu all the way down. No matter what we tried every dish was done with flair and great flavor. The only problem is if you only go with one other person it is hard to try everything and you will want to. Cocktails are different and delicious with a real attention to flavor and Peruvian air. In my opinion you can't go wrong here. On top of the food and drinks, the staff wants to make you happy and the owners personally take pride and love to see their patrons enjoying the restaurant. "

  • "My husband and I have passed Picca on Pico for several months. Every time we passed it, we'd say, "We have to try it. It looks interesting." Finally, we did, and are we glad we did! The atmosphere is a modern take on rustic. The food is Peruvian fused with an Asian edge. The cocktails are like none I've ever had. Some are made with pre-prohibition recipes and ingredients. What an exciting and surprising dining experience. The food is so well prepared and we loved the small plates approach so that we could try a little of everything. Can't wait to go back."

  • "We were so looking forward to our meal at Picca. Everything was so over-spiced and the meat was tough and the fish was so-so. We like Paiche in Marina del Rey so much better! The flavors are much more sophisticated. And we LOVE LOVE LOVE the new Gravlax restaurant in Culver City. It's not Peruvian/Japanese - it's Scandinavian. But it is small plates - all cold but the chef is a GENIUS at combining ingredients and flavors. Sorry Picca. But they were busy so I guess if you like super spicy you'd like Picca."
