A word from Picca
Picca is a Peruvian cantina. We encourage you to eat your beef heart out.

At Picca, Chef Ricardo Zarate serves modern Peruvian cuisine with a Japanese flair. You'll discover over 50 refined Peruvian dishes designed to be passed around the table.

From our ceviche and tiradito fare to more traditional Peruvian meals like seco de pato, duck leg confit in black beer sauce over cilantro rice, we hope you'll stop by and try Chef Zarate's cooking. We encourage you to sit at the chef's counter, and watch his entire team cook all night long.

In 2011, Chef Zarate was awarded the title of Best New Chef in America by Food & Wine Magazine. He has also been nominated twice for a James Beard Award and last year Picca was named one of the 10 best restaurants in the America by GQ magazine.

My first time dining at Picca... food and service were excellent! Our waiter was very knowledgable and helped us tremendously with the (very large) menu. Great food and cocktails, would definitely recommend this restaurant!

The food and drinks are great here. You get a lot of variety with the small plates and the flavors are all very bold. I had the hibiscus drink and we shared the spicy yellowtail causa, albacore ceviche, blk cod anticucho, and scallop anticucho. Only thing I'd say is that the service felt a little rushed; as in our server was in a massive hurry to get us through the meal and out the door.

The food was good but the service was even better. I don't like the two-tops smashed together. It was uncomfortable dining, especially since the couple next to us had no shame fighting very belligerently in public. Even if they had been a normal, civil couple, I would have been uncomfortable. You really have no place to put your purse without disturbing the person next to you, and getting up from the table during the meal is impossible if someone is sitting next to you. I realize you do that to get more people in the door and spending money, but I won't sit at one of those tables again. Also, it's VERY loud. We had to really raise our voices to hear each other.

Our waiter was very nice, but since we did not order any alcohol, we felt like he was not as attentive. I had to ask 3 times before my water glass got refilled. We saw him several times checking on the table next to us who were drinking wine but we were ignored the whole dinner. My impression is that if you want good service, you better order alcohol.

Service was great, location is excellent, aesthetically superb. Although the dishes has an excellent presentation, I wasn't too convinced about the taste of the food. I am fully aware it's Peruvian, Japanese and French fusion, no problem; I would have rather taste some authentic Peruvian food. The "Papa Rellena" which it's supposed to contain ground beef, it was made with chicken. This would have been more acceptable if I was able to even taste the chicken, the potato was hallow, no relleno. The prices are a bit high but would have been more acceptable if the dishes that were served contained more of the items described in the menu i.e. the ceviche crocante had only two tiny pieces of halibut. Over all I think this place is overrated.

Bar drinks were excellent particularly the avocado cocktail. Halibut ceviche was the biggest disappointment hugely sour - heavy handed on the limes- though crispy calamari on top was good. The eggplant dish though I believe that simple was the goal it was just very bland. The spicy yellowtail sashimi was brilliant...loved the dollop of sweet potato with it. The sea bass sushi was amazing! The whipped potato was better than having rice! Pass on the chicken thighs which were a tad dry and again a little bland. Skirt steak was good also and filling. And end with churros(ask for easy on the sugar) with the chocolate sauce which is bowl lickin' good!

We visited from Dallas and were able to get a reservation only at 9:30. At 6 pm I went to talk to the hostess and asked if she could find us a spot earlier. She worked with her schedule for a good 10 minutes and eventually gave us an 8:30 spot. The restaurant was packed, yet they got us a table a few minutes earlier. The service was friendly, competent, and prompt. The food was just delicious, including a serving of the best scallops I had in my life (I am 67 and had lots of scallops!). One of the top restaurants worldwide, and comparable Peruvian food to what we had at Astrid and Gaston in Lima.

I had an important introductory business meeting (a career opportunity) in Beverly Hills with the corporate president from an East Coast based company. We needed a retaurant that was convenient to his hotel, was opened late and would make an impression of LA iconic dining. Our experience exceeded all of my expectations from the follow-up on my reservation; the accomodating our need to be able to conduct some important "meet & greet" discussions (we were seated at a back corner table with a more subdued noise level) and a memorable dining experience. Picca provided all of this! And as it happened, my visiting guest was born in Peru and found the menu choices high quality of authentic Peruvian cuisine. 5 Stars!

We were not disappointed. Again the food was spectacular. We were greeted with complimentary champagne since we had informed them of our celebration when we made our reservation. The service was outstanding and we can't wait to go back! I highly recommend this great restaurant. Oh by the way, you have to try their Pisco Sours. The best I've had outside of Peru!

With several styles of fascinating small plates, the menu features something for everyone - some of the best bites you will ever put in your mouth. The fish and chips and braised duck were stand outs! Pricing is fair - when I received the bill, I was expecting a higher tab. Our waiter was knowledgable, friendly and had a great sense of timing. His recommendations on the number of dishes to order hit the bullseye. When the restaurant ran out of the wine we ordered, our waiter recommended a different wine (with a small taste) that was equally polished but not an up-sell to our original choice. It was difficult to hear our dinner guests but we managed to have great conversation without screaming across a small table. A definite winner!

While I love Latin American food and expected good dishes at Picca, I was blown away by how great everything was. Truly delicious! Dishes are broken up into single bites, tapa style small plates, skewers, ceviches, and larger plates (not that big). The play on sushi (potato replacing the rice) with the single bite dishes was both creative and tasty. The quinoa stew was great, too. The churros required we order two rounds. Really, you'll eat well but what really drives this place is the service. We had an excellent waiter who guided us through the menu, made us drinks that weren't on the list based on what we said we liked, and who all around on point. The food is pricey but this place is worth visiting!

The food explodes in your mouth; each taste is different, building to a sensory overload. The quinoa, chicken, cod, lamb are exceptional. The Causas were not our favorite but the Ceviche was outstanding. The ambiance is festive and loud-ask for upstairs if you want the decibels lower. This restaurant and it's downtown sister Mochica are LA treasures!!!

My girlfriends and I had a great dinner at Picca. The server was knowledgable, nice and very accommodating. Most of the food was stellar and my drink was out of bounds delicious. My only gripe was the cost of everything for the serving sizes. The portions of food and the size of the drinks were so small, it was actually surprising - and disappointing. It was really, really expensive. But, overall, the dinner was a great experience and I'll go back. I just need to save up in order to pay for it.
