At Picca, Chef Ricardo Zarate serves modern Peruvian cuisine with a Japanese flair. You'll discover over 50 refined Peruvian dishes designed to be passed around the table.

From our ceviche and tiradito fare to more traditional Peruvian meals like seco de pato, duck leg confit in black beer sauce over cilantro rice, we hope you'll stop by and try Chef Zarate's cooking. We encourage you to sit at the chef's counter, and watch his entire team cook all night long.

In 2011, Chef Zarate was awarded the title of Best New Chef in America by Food & Wine Magazine. He has also been nominated twice for a James Beard Award and last year Picca was named one of the 10 best restaurants in the America by GQ magazine.

We had a wonderful meal at this restaurant at the recommendation of our son Daniel. Our server, whose name was Aaron, was excellent and explained all the different dishes and choices to us in great detail. We enjoyed sitting at the counter and watching many of these dishes being prepared in front of us. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes to try new and different foods.

I booked a table which was nor ready when we arrived. They didn't have sparkling water, nor diet coke or any diet drinks. I asked for bread three times to no avail. It was very noisy and they didn't have many of the typical Peruvian dishes.

We love Picca- have been here 3 times now, bringing different people in every time. We came the first time during DineLA, and are glad we did. The food is consistently solid, and is a great place for anyone who tends to like food on the slightly more acidic/limey side- so perfect for my palette! This most recent time, we had the BEST server, she was amazing. Always had a smile on her face. Overall, service has always been amazing!

Best to go with at least a few people since the food comes out tapas-style so that you can try a bunch of different dishes. Really liked everything except for the fried chicken which was just okay. The churros and vanilla pane cotta for dessert were delicious. We sat upstairs in the back where there was a strange vibration under us which was a little annoying. Otherwise, it was great.

This was my second visit. 4 adults, 1 teenager, and one 10 years old,the total bill including tip was almost $500. Since they were bringing many kinds of small plates, the waitress had hardly come back to us to see if we needed anything. Our second and final water refill was 10 min before we leave the restaurant. The place was full. Some workers were really friendly and some were not. I can spend this much money to enjoy better quality and tasty food elsewhere for the next time.

Went here on a date night and we could not have been more satisfied and ecstatic with everything about Picca! We absolutely recommend the uni-scallops, lamb, and the paella. Honestly, everything is delicious. We were going to try multiple drinks, but opted for three rounds of the pisco sour! It is that tasty! Overall, this is a must in your LA dining experience.

If anything was memorable about the restaurant, it was the service. Truly top-notch, which I feel nowadays is actually hard to find in Los Angeles. Our waiter even treated us to a glass of cava for two of us at the table who were celebrating birthdays. However, we were terribly disappointed by the food. Not so much the flavors which were well developed and interesting, but just the portion sizes. $16 for about 2 bites of cod which could be made a home next to sweet potato chips which didn't seem any different than Terra chips. I understand this is more upscale/fine dining so portions tend to be smaller and you're supposed to be focused on innovative flavors, but it wasn't THAT great so it just felt like a ripoff. Would not recommend.

Food was okay. Some dishes were even great . . . But the restaurant was so noisy we could barely hear our waiter or even each other! Conversation was difficult. One server was as rude as could be when my friend questioned the ingredients of a dish. Menu says feta, vinaigrette NOT feta vinaigrette. The first implies feta in the dish and there was none!! I have never paid $240 for dinner and been abused by the staff before. -- Food may be ok but I would never return to Picca!!

We were expecting so much more. I never ever write bad reviews. However the food was extremely disappointing. The mushroom dish was burnt. The chicken with vegetables was too salty and there were two tiny bites of meat. The server was really unhelpful with suggestions and disappearEd for over 20 minutes. There are so many amazing restaurants in Los Angeles at this level.

Our experience at Picca exceeded my expectations. The dishes had commonly used ingredients, but with really well-executed flare that distinguished it from the rest. Specifically, the Crispy Quinoa Ensalada, churros, baby back ribs & diver scallops. I really enjoyed the fun and creative take on each of the dishes. The service was very helpful and made our experience even better. With close to 70 items on the menu, it's easy to get lost, but our server worked with us and provided information as needed without a snobby attitude. The space can be tight between tables, but workable. Definitely a favorite!

The food and drinks are great here. You get a lot of variety with the small plates and the flavors are all very bold. I had the hibiscus drink and we shared the spicy yellowtail causa, albacore ceviche, blk cod anticucho, and scallop anticucho. Only thing I'd say is that the service felt a little rushed; as in our server was in a massive hurry to get us through the meal and out the door.

The food was good but the service was even better. I don't like the two-tops smashed together. It was uncomfortable dining, especially since the couple next to us had no shame fighting very belligerently in public. Even if they had been a normal, civil couple, I would have been uncomfortable. You really have no place to put your purse without disturbing the person next to you, and getting up from the table during the meal is impossible if someone is sitting next to you. I realize you do that to get more people in the door and spending money, but I won't sit at one of those tables again. Also, it's VERY loud. We had to really raise our voices to hear each other.

Our waiter was very nice, but since we did not order any alcohol, we felt like he was not as attentive. I had to ask 3 times before my water glass got refilled. We saw him several times checking on the table next to us who were drinking wine but we were ignored the whole dinner. My impression is that if you want good service, you better order alcohol.

Service was great, location is excellent, aesthetically superb. Although the dishes has an excellent presentation, I wasn't too convinced about the taste of the food. I am fully aware it's Peruvian, Japanese and French fusion, no problem; I would have rather taste some authentic Peruvian food. The "Papa Rellena" which it's supposed to contain ground beef, it was made with chicken. This would have been more acceptable if I was able to even taste the chicken, the potato was hallow, no relleno. The prices are a bit high but would have been more acceptable if the dishes that were served contained more of the items described in the menu i.e. the ceviche crocante had only two tiny pieces of halibut. Over all I think this place is overrated.

Bar drinks were excellent particularly the avocado cocktail. Halibut ceviche was the biggest disappointment hugely sour - heavy handed on the limes- though crispy calamari on top was good. The eggplant dish though I believe that simple was the goal it was just very bland. The spicy yellowtail sashimi was brilliant...loved the dollop of sweet potato with it. The sea bass sushi was amazing! The whipped potato was better than having rice! Pass on the chicken thighs which were a tad dry and again a little bland. Skirt steak was good also and filling. And end with churros(ask for easy on the sugar) with the chocolate sauce which is bowl lickin' good!

We visited from Dallas and were able to get a reservation only at 9:30. At 6 pm I went to talk to the hostess and asked if she could find us a spot earlier. She worked with her schedule for a good 10 minutes and eventually gave us an 8:30 spot. The restaurant was packed, yet they got us a table a few minutes earlier. The service was friendly, competent, and prompt. The food was just delicious, including a serving of the best scallops I had in my life (I am 67 and had lots of scallops!). One of the top restaurants worldwide, and comparable Peruvian food to what we had at Astrid and Gaston in Lima.

I had an important introductory business meeting (a career opportunity) in Beverly Hills with the corporate president from an East Coast based company. We needed a retaurant that was convenient to his hotel, was opened late and would make an impression of LA iconic dining. Our experience exceeded all of my expectations from the follow-up on my reservation; the accomodating our need to be able to conduct some important "meet & greet" discussions (we were seated at a back corner table with a more subdued noise level) and a memorable dining experience. Picca provided all of this! And as it happened, my visiting guest was born in Peru and found the menu choices high quality of authentic Peruvian cuisine. 5 Stars!
