PiccaPicca nightThis is fun eating. Deliciously prepared munchies. In particular I love the way the heart and tongue are done. I have been to Picca a couple of times and always had fun eating there. The only minus is that sometimes a dish comes out too salty, in my opinion.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMnew favoriteloved everything about it. great cocktails , great food. friendly servers.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMy boyfriend, who is an ExecutiveMy boyfriend, who is an Executive chef of a San Diego restaurant sought this restaurant out on our recent visit to the LA area. He knows how much I love ceviche and chose it specifically for that and was intrigued by Picca's reputation. We had a reservation secured but upon arrival we learned about the chef counter, and being that my boyfriend is a chef he wanted to be right where the action was. The hotess and staff were so accommodating in changing our reservation to be at the chef counter, which was full at the time. Once there became a spot the staff was wonderful in getting us seated. Our server was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the menu. We loved our dinner! The halibut ceviche was amazing. The scallops were YUM!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMLove thIs place, but broughtLove thIs place, but brought down to 3 stars by my last visit. After we got our dinner, server was very hard to catch...and we wanted another round of drinks and dessert. We got them, but after a long time. Then getting the check took over 30 min. I still highly recommend this place, just make sure you have time.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLive up to hypeFood was mostly successful. There were a couple of missed, like the fried chicken (dry) and the duck. But the rest of our orders were very good to excellent, including the ceviches, the mussels, the eggplant, and the fried rice (!). Drinks were very good, and our waitress was very good.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently greatThis is a great spot for couples and groups to sample an array of innovative Peruvian fusion dishes. Consistently great food, good service, and always interesting, though it gets packed on weekends.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMNothing BetterWe love the delicious flavors that compliment the freshest of sushi style fish The halibut sliced
Paper thin with an amazing citrus infused sauce is one of our favorites. We have been here for anniversaries, birthdays and many times since Picca opened. We had the fried oysters for the first time and were really impressed. They were served in a light vinegrette in the original shell atop a salt mound. The duck leg confit is also delectable and a good end to a wonderful night. Thank goodness the owner and management are friendly and really stand behind the quality and customer service they are known for. If you get Molly as your waitress you will have incredible service and feel like an old friend is serving you5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMYou'll Keep Coming BackThis Peruvian tapas spot gets it right. The atmosphere is lively and, okay, a little loud when it gets hopping at night. But it's worth it. The flavors combine to tickle your palette, and everything we had was lick-your-fingers good. I'm glad I chose this place to take my boyfriend who was visiting from Chicago. You give my hometown a run for its money.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome culinary experience!Awesome culinary experience! Great food and great ambience.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMTasty, fresh, creative, differentPicca was again fresh and delightful. The warmth of the wait staff was again felt as soon as we walked in the door. The food was delightful - fresh and prepared in front of us as we sat at the Chef's counter. The only slight negatives were as follows: the scallops with crispy Parmesan did not delight us & chairs at the Chef's counter were not that comfortable. However, the albacore ceviche and paella were awe inspiring.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat timeIt was a very nice surprise, we were expecting nothing special, just a normal Peruvian restaurant with ceviche. we had a great experience with an original menu and very attentive service
bravo5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMPicca Perfection! This is some restaurant. Wonderful, friendly staff, innovative food and an interestingly laid out floor plan. The Mixologists at the bar are a show unto themselves as they concoct exotic beverages complete with fireworks (flaming grapefruit peels anyone?) The food is equally colorful and delicious. Picca is strictly for those who are tired of ho-hum restaurants. Everyone who works there from valets to hostesses to chefs are all such nice, interesting people, which makes Picca the same thing- nice an dinteresting. You've been warned- those lovely wood floors make it noisy but you can retreat to the upstairs away from the din. You'll feel left out of the party, however.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond Time to PicaThe tapas format really allows one to try a variety of items. Our server was excellent and we generally had a great time. Just know going in that it is a hip hopping place and the noise level is high. You will have fun, but not the place for quiet conversation.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Picca!Love the ceviche, the friendly service and the tequila!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMPicca rocks!!!What an incredible experience we had at this restaurant. We went for my husbands birthday with 12 other hard working rushed guests and we found ourselves closing down the place. We left all of the ordering in Kimberly's hands who manages and serves at the restaurant and honestly we would have moved in if we could have!! This was such a pleasant surprise we can't wait to go back!!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious dining at a handsomeDelicious dining at a handsome venue with attentive service.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place!Food is delicious each time I've dined here. Delicious drinks and great service!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMEven better the second time around.Went with a friend to celebrate our joint birthdays. The server, Molly, was amazing. Her recommendations were spot on and service overall was excellent. Every bite was an eye-opening "Wow!". We had the beef heart, beef tongue, seabass ceviche, urchin/scallop taradito, the pork ribs, and the branzini. Every dish was amazing, especially the sauces. The best was the beef tongue; if I hadn't known it was tongue, I would have thought it was filet mignon. I'd been here once before and had the beef heart, which at that time was my fave. This was the first time I've ever gone to a restaurant and liked it even more than I did the first time. Each bit of food left us wanting more. Excellent, excellent, excellent.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExceeded all expectationsWe live close to Picca but had never managed to go. What a mistake. The food was outstanding - particularly the quinoa salad, the ceviche, the polls saltado, and the ribs (actually, we lived every dish we ordered). The waiter, Gilberto, was extremely helpful and attentive. Picca did get very crowded and noisy by the time we left. We will definitely go back.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent experience...good,Excellent experience...good, food, wonderful service, especially Aaron who was our waiter who was extremely patient in explaining all the wonderful dishes. Can't wait to return!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous Peruvian Fusion Cuisine!Picca is amazing. Honestly, some of the best small plate style dining I have ever had. I was in Peru just a few weeks ago and was craving Peruvian food since I returned, so I had to try Picca. First of all, Picca makes a fabulous and authentic Peruvian style Pisco Sour! It's a beautiful restaurant. The service is friendly, the food is delicious. The cerviche is better if not as good than what I had in Peru. And there is a lot on the menu! The branzino antichucos are great, as are the scallops. And for desert, try the chocolate filled dumplings with lacuna! The cause bar is a great idea. If you have not tried it, causa is potato and they make a sort of sushi with it instead of rice. It's delicious. Highly recommended!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for the first time finallyWent for the first time finally and I'll have to say, they nailed it. I had a few dishes and most of them did not disappoint. From the presentation to the flavor of the dish and the quality of the food, Picca is doing things right. Cebiche, Peruvian approved. Generous serving compared to some of the other dishes and the seabass dissolved in our mouths as it should. Anticuchos de corazon were a little overcooked for my taste but it tasted good. Anticuchos de pulpo was probably the one dish that I wouldn't have again. Very little octopus, almost none, but the flavor again, great and just the right amount of spice. Tiraditos were pretty good but creamy panca or aji amarillo sauces would amaze. Please, more room between tables. No intimacy.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMYum!A good mix of Japanese and Peruvian food. Not a bad place for the first date. Didn't like the drink with avocado but the one with Hennessey was the bomb.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe dishes are small servingsThe dishes are small servings but interesting combinations and very tasty flavors.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMPicca is consistently hittingPicca is consistently hitting winners now with its food. The service is ok, a bit cloying at times. The hostess could still use some work.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat, stylish food and veryGreat, stylish food and very attentive service. Fun creative drinks. Neighboring tables were a little too close. Place was a little loud but full of good energy.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe came early - 6:45 PM butWe came early - 6:45 PM but had to wait for our third person to come. Ordering was easy and the waitperson was knowledgeable. The only hitch was towards the end of our meal, we had to flag our waitperson down a couple of times because she was very busy and was not stopping at our table. We had to wait a considerable time to order dessert and to get our check. Otherwise, a pleasant experience. We did request a quieter area since the restaurant tends to be noisy downstairs.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFish courses were the best.Fish courses were the best. Scallops were pricey, but outstanding. Wine list a bit lacking. Everyone in our group enjoyed the dinner.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI really love Picca becauseI really love Picca because it's a tapas place for peruvian food. The food is great, perfect size to try several dishes that I love. Waitress I had was amazing, super happy and very nice. Place never disappoints.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went with a group of 11We went with a group of 11 to celebrate a birthday. The food was amazing, our waiter was excellent. Its Tapas style which can be tough for a large group, so we let our waiter know what we wanted and he handled ordering the amounts. We had a wonderful evening!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMReally enjoyed my time atReally enjoyed my time at Picca. Creative cocktails. Great food. And awesome service with detailed knowledge of the menu. Looking forward to returning!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent andThe food was excellent and very authentic (according to my Peruvian friend), although obviously dressed up enough to be creative and unique to Picca. Loved the Parmesan scallops, the paella, and anticuchos de corazon. I highly recommend ordering a whole bunch of dishes to share with the group... my friends and I loved being able to taste through so many dishes in one sitting. The pisco sour was delicious as well, and the cocktail menu generally was really fun. The staff was friendly and attentive (especially our bussers, who kept the tables cleared and water glasses filled at all times!). I'll definitely be back!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe sat at the bar. The bartendressWe sat at the bar. The bartendress was fantastic in her recommendations for food and drink. The cocktails were well-balanced and of the most professional caliber preparation. Every bite of food I had was over the top delicious. The diver scallops were the best I have ever had. The quinoa stew is my new favorite item on a menu anywhere...different, comforting, delicious!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMPicca Delivers Amidst The HypeGreat experience at Picca. Started with our amazing waiter Ben. The food ranged from good to outstanding, and the atmosphere was great. I would recommend Picca to all. Great LA dining experience.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMfantastic array of carefullyfantastic array of carefully sculpted small plates. something for everyone. can never get enough of the locro de quinoa, always end up ordering more.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food at Picca did notThe food at Picca did not disappoint. The quality of the ingredients and the preparation are excellent. We had an array of plates, and all joyfully disappeared.
The wine list is fairly priced, and has some excellent new world wines to choose from. The drinks are well prepared, although the absence of vodka, or non-latin spirits, is pretty remarkable.
I was disappointed not to see a version of "Suspiro Limeño" on the very limited dessert offering.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMi was last at picca a yeari was last at picca a year ago and both the quality of the food and the service have much improved since. it was a lovely experience.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMProbably the hottest and oneProbably the hottest and one of the best restaurants presently in LA, Picca excels on all levels. The hostess is a bit rude and could use some re-training in her duties. The wait staff can be a bit cloying but the orders are right.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA great dining experienceI was at Picca with a party of six and we order tons of items from the menu. I was a bit overwhelmed, but when focus on the main ingredient rather than trying to figure out what dishes were it made it much easier. We all agreed everything was delicious. A few things were a bit spicy for my taste, but since we had a large party everyone was happy.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the dining room, theLoved the dining room, the energy, the cocktails. Server was VERY friendly, but also VERY slow (15 minutes to be greeted, gone way too long between courses and empty drinks).
6 plates, three were wonderful, three were underwhelming. Ceviche was food highlight of the night.
Would come back, for sure, but hopefully the service issues get ironed out.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFlavorful dishes. KnowledgeableFlavorful dishes. Knowledgeable waiters. Nice decor and romantic ambiance. EnjoyedGreat restaurant! Enjoyed this with another couple and recommend being a group of 4 to share the food.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMPicca PerfectThere wasn't much, anything really, at Picca that I could complain about! The tapas-style meal was great for our group of 4. The waiter adjusted our smaller orders to accommodate us 4. Service was attentive and spot on. Waiters were always willing to explain the Peruvian delights on offer. There was a lively crowd on a Friday evening. Food was delicious, I tried lots of new things. The anticucho diver scallops were the standouts among standouts. Everything was fantastic...the pork ribs, the umagi causa. Have fun and try new things! We ordered 8 dishes among 4 of us, plus dessert and drinks, and left stuffed!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMA top notch eveningVery surprised at the quality of this place - could be some of the best food being prepared in Los Angeles right now. The menu is interesting to begin with, but the quality of kitchen is not to believed until the food starts coming out. Everything is just a little better, a little more inventive than you would expect. There's also a high end group of mixologists at the bar. Be warned, they only carry agave based liquors! Disappointed that they had no whiskey, they made me a wonderful, agave based old fashioned. There are two dining rooms, on two floors. The downstairs room includes the bar as is very high energy. The upstairs is quieter, and is also the area used for groups.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMPICCA: a MUST for LA diningeasily one of the best meals I've ever had! Picca features small plates of a variety of Peruvian styles, from STREET fair to traditional FAMILY, PLAYful plates of fried deliciousness to PROPER dishes for a sophisticated palate who enjoy an their hit of Asian flair. We made sure to sample at least 2-3 from each section, with a mix of proteins. As each plate arrived, new flavors, different temperatures, and varying textures emerged, making each one an "oh wow, maybe this one is my favorite" epiphany. While I could easily recommend every dish we tried, i'd say the table favorites were: Seto de Pato, Choritos, Ceviche Mixto and the Arroz Chaufa de Mariscos. Not a single dish disappointed. This is definitely a must for LA dining!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food! Great service.Fantastic food! Great service. The cocktails are incredible and the service was the best I've had in a long while in LA3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMTapas ExcellencePicca is a tapas-style restaurant. Lots of small shared dishes. We ordered about a dozen dishes and all were excellent. All those dishes added up to quite an expensive meal, though. I've gone twice now, once on a weekend and once during the week. Both times were crowded and noisy. Definitely make a reservation.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMIn the expensive side butIn the expensive side but really good food and tasty drinks!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
