Overlooking a lake and beautifully manicured grounds on the McDonald's Campus in Oak Brook, Piazza is a true gem located inside the Hyatt Lodge. Highly regarded in the area as a social event venue, the Hyatt Lodge showcases their service and culinary skills in an intimate restaurant setting with Piazza. Rennovated in 2004, Piazza is surrounded by both artwork cases showcasing some of McDonald's corporate art collection, as well as a wine display featuring some of the bottles from the restaurant's Italian wine list.
Featuring Mediterranean ingredients, the menu features interesting twists on mainly Southern Italian standards. Locally grown products enhance the flavors of the menu that changes with the season.

  • "We've been visiting this restaurant that's hidden away in McDonald's Corporation's Hyatt-run hotel, located in a wooded campus on a small lake--tranquil and beautiful. No one, and I mean no one knows about this place, as there is no signage to indicate that this place exists. The midcentury modern facility is warm and inviting with a comfy seating area; oh, and yeah, the food is excellent with a solid bar. Service is really a strong point--very elegant and attentive. Love coming here, especially since we're only one of three tables that had guests! It's like having your own private restaurant. If you like the boisterous, hyperactive--ahem--ambiance that nearly all restaurants force upon patrons today, you won't enjoy this special place."

  • "The Mrs. and I were staying at the Lodge for a one night stay-cation and gave the restaurant a try instead of going out. The food was good with the exception of dessert, service was decent but a little under staffed at points. If you're staying at hotel it's a great option since you can just walk back to your room. Nice ambiance and the potential for some great views (everything was snowed in when we were there.)"

  • "It has been a long time since we have gone to Piazza. The food was excellant. We could not give the same recommendation for the service. Our waitress may have been somewhat new and seemed to be much more busy than the other servers. The restaurant was busy but not overwhelmed. She was pleasant but just seemed like she was always behind. Again the food was great and we will return."

  • "It's risky, sometimes, to eat at a hotel restaurant--seldom does the food exceed expectations. Piazza is far better than many. The food and service are very good. We had a prix fixe menu for Valentine's Day, and the food was very good, with modest, but satisfactory portion sizes. Each course was presented beautifully and prepared well (the fish was just a touch dry--our only criticism). Wine prices were reasonable, too. There's a lounge/bar adjacent to the restaurant area, and there was a group that was loudly enjoying the Olympics, but even that wasn't enough to disturb us during our meal. Service was prompt and attentive, but not obsequious or intrusive."

  • "Went here with a small group for Valentine's dinner and the prix fixe meal was outstanding. From the table bread to the berries/fruit encased in a HUGE chocolate "paper bag"... superb! Worthy of the fine dining experience found in the Chicago downtown restaurants. Service could be better, a little slow, but I guess it was an unusually busy night for them. The management was exceptional in their service when we had a little trouble with the parking situation. Warning: the Piazza is not an enclosed area. The raucous merriment normally associated with a bar, which is separated from the Piazza only by columns, can be readily heard in the Piazza. We didn't mind, but it did take away some of the romantic ambience on a Valentine's evening."

  • "I understand it was Valentine's Day, yet this had a pre-fixed menu and it was not overly crowded. The food was cooked ahead of time and I think we were served and done with dinner in 45 minutes. The fish was supposed to be served with brussel sprout(s). Well, if there was 1/16 of one sprout, I'd be surprised. The dessert was a chocolate box with cream and fruit and it was nasty. I think they filled it the day before and it was not fresh and pretty."

  • "We went to Piazza kind of on a whim, and loved it. We ordered the white pizza as an appetizer, and thought quite highly of it. Beef ravioli and fettuccini alfredo for dinners, both of which were excellent. The fettuccini is up there with one of the best I've had. The chicken that accompanied it was top notch, a perfect balance of texture and taste. The only bummer was that we went in the cold, snowy winter, and weren't able to enjoy the views of the beautiful campus. Chances are quite high that we will head back when the weather turns to sit outside and enjoy this wonderful place again. Our waitress was fantastic, although her name escapes me (started with a Z). She was quite helpful on suggestions and was enjoyable to work with."

  • "We met friends there that we had no seen in some time. When we arrived, we had made reservations, but there was no one at the restaurant. At the height of the night, there might have been 3 tables filled. Too bad! The food was very good, the ambiance is very nice and the service was incredible. Not that having a quiet restaurant is necessarily a bad thing, we were just surprised there was no one there. It was ideal for us since we were able to talk as long as we wanted with no pressure to move on. Lovely place! Definitely a romantic spot! It appears the view is really nice, but, it was dark when we got there. Pumpkin Gnocchi - excellent, fish lasagna - very good!"

On the day of our 21st anniversary, we were treated to one of the best dining experiences, ever. i ordered the special, baked salmon, and it was terrific. We received extraordinary service, but the caveat here, is that, in spite of our Friday visit, this masterpiece of extraordinary lakeside architecture, was nearly empty. It is on McDonald's Ham. U. campus, which is, to some people, off the beaten path, not on some well traveled boulevard."

  • "Off the beaten path find on the McDonald's hamburger U. campus in Chicago's Western Suburbs. Well appointed white table cloth room. The antipasti plate was more than ample for two or three. House cabernet was to my taste. My wife had a stuffed chicken breast with artichoke and orzo. I had the meant lasagna. Both were well prepared. Wonderful quiet meal in the dining room overlooking the lake. We will bring family back for a special occasion."

The views looked great from our table.... when we turned our heads around and away from the hectic kitchen scene. The table we got was awfully positioned and the manager apologized for seating us here. The food was ok, at best. My wife and I joked that the bread they served must have been brought over from Hamburger University. Shockingly poor quality. From a food and service perspective, about what you'd expect if you walked into any Hyatt hotel restaurant. Screaming for un upgrade in quality. We likely will not go back until there is a significant change."

Great place to take my 86 year old parents because it was quiet, calm and elegant - like the country club they used to enjoy. Able to talk easily without noise. We lingered 2 hours over our meal. The staff was friendly and accomodating, took our coats when we walked in, checked on us regularly to make sure we were happy and brought a birthday dessert."

  • "Used a coupon for our dinner - 1 app, 2 glasses of wine and 2 entrees. Great deal and food was good. We each ordered an extra glass of wine. When our receipt came, the glasses were priced at $10.50 each. Decided to go into the bar area for another glass of wine. Noticed the same glasses of wine were $7.50 each! Spoke to someone I think was a manager - she said something about a mistake being made on our receipt; so she gave us our two glasses of wine at no charge. But how many people are getting charged incorrectly for their extra glasses of wine by not knowing the price?"

The beautiful background music, the glass artwork in glass cases surrounding the restaurant, and the window walls overlooking the ponds create an idyllic mood. After a long day, the warm welcome by Zuza, our hostess, helped us to relax, and she gave us the window table I requested in our reservation. Our food was delicious, our server was attentive and helpful, and he even recommended a wine, Saracco, that I now consider a new favorite. We enjoyed every aspect of our experience, and we plan to return again soon. Thank you, Piazza Staff and Chef, for a wonderful evening!"
