A word from Piazza Sorrento
Voted "Best New Restaurant" by Harrisburg Magazine in 2009, Piazza Sorrento is a modern Italian restaurant based on the "Old World" Italian recipes of the owner's family back in Italy. The Bolognese sauce they grew up on and the tradition of family is the cornerstone of the Piazza Sorrento dining experience. Dedicated to providing the finest in service, food, and wine at a fair and competitive price, Piazza Sorrento makes regional and classic Italian cuisine using premium local ingredients while keeping the history of the dish and region intact.

Piazza Sorrento not only provides the best in authentic Italian cooking this side of the Atlantic, but also believes that all patrons, whether adults or children, should be welcomed like one big family - even those with certain dietary requirements. That is why Piazza Sorrento is widely known for their extensive Gluten Free menu, another reason patrons routinely drive over an hour or more to dine in relative ease and safety.

Diner Reviews
  • "The menu features enough choices to satisfy everyone in the group - including many gluten free options and kid's dinners."

  • "Our family always enjoys dining here. Talk about authentic Italian cuisine, virtually everything on the menu (including the desserts) is homemade, the quality and portions of the food are excellent and the prices are reasonable. If you leave this restaurant hungry, shame on you! Reservations are most definitely recommended, it gets very busy depending upon what day and time that you go. They also have one of the best gluten free menus in the entire area. They have an extensive selection of beer and wine to enjoy along with your meal if you so desire. You absolutely cannot go wrong dining here, no matter what the occasion."

  • "We started off with the crab dip appetizer, which was delicious-big chunks of crab. Tried a summer ale on tap as suggested by our server-the salad with the house dressing was inhaled with their warm rolls. I tried the small lasagna and was pleasantly full- the sauce was chunky with meat and tomatoes and spices. My husband had the Crème brulee for dessert, and it was creamy and sugary, and I enjoyed the blueberry garnish on top."

  • "Wife and I recently removed gluten from our diets. We came across this restaurant while researching Harrisburg area gf restaurants. I'm glad we found this place! Food was amazing! Would not have known it was gf if you didn't tell me! Lots of flavor. I had clams and pasta in white wine sauce, and wife had lasagna. Both excellent. For dessert we had the gf tiramisu and homemade panna cotta. Delicious! Can't wait to go back!"

  • "Nice authentic Italian restaurant across from the Hershey Medical Center. Small dining room so reservations recommended or sit in the bar area where your service is dependent on a nice bartender who may be a little busy. Excellent lasagna and chicken Marsala."

  • "This is REAL italian! Good food and caters to people with Gluten allergies. It's a little pricey but worth it."

  • "This restaurant has the best gluten free menu. Their staff is very knowledgeable and we have never had an issue. We are from the philly area and stop here every time we are in the area."

  • "Great homemade pastas, sauces, cannoli - but service a bit slow. On a Monday night but took 20 minutes to get our drinks because the bartender was being "chatty". And we had 8 people crammed around a table that would have been much better suited for 6 - even with a reservation. There were plenty of open tables that could have been combined to more comfortably accommodate our party. The food is excellent, wine list okay."

  • "We enjoy dining at Piazzo Sorrento! We had a very rewarding experience this past Friday there. First, our server, Jillian, was superb! She was personable, pleasant and very courteous. The food was wonderful, as usual. We couldn't ask for a better dining experience and the online reservation availability was very helpful!"

  • "We are weekly diners, and we always have good service, and good food. The hostess knows us by name, and knows our seating preferences. They serve great pizza and pasta and excellent fish dishes.(which my husband enjoys). Always a friendly dining experience!"

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 44th Anniversary and chose Piazza Sorrento because we know we can always get a great meal there. It was a little crowded even at 5:30, but we were in a booth and didn't actually hear other peoples' conversations. I had the best Pasta Primavera I've ever had and the drinks were made to perfection. Husband had the crab cakes, and although they were really good, could suggest a light sauce on the plate to compliment them perhaps? We took a piece of Tiramisu home and that was delicious too. Very accommodating and gracious waitress!"

  • "We stopped in to break up the work day. Piazza Sorrento does a nice job with their pasta dishes. My spouse had the bolognese, I had a chicken penne. Both were good, my spouse seemed to like her selection better. Even though my dish was advertised as homemade pasta, the penne seemed a bit tough for fresh made. Anyway, The meal was a nice diversion in the middle of the day. Service was good."

  • "Appetizers (caprese salad and eggplant rolls) great! Gluten free lasagna pretty good as well. Gluten free pizza not too good. Needed to be cooked more, very under done. Service not good. Waiter was overwhelmed and took a really long time to get anything."

  • "We were driving through Hershey and needed a place to eat dinner. Found Pizza Sorrento online and boy am I glad! What a fantastic meal. I had a GF lasagna that was awesome, and it came with a nice crusty gluten free baguette. I ordered THREE gf desserts, because I just couldn't decide: Chocolate rum moose, tiramasu, and panna cotta. I liked the panna cotta best, but they were all great. The non-GF eaters in the family were very happy with their meals as well."

  • "The place was very busy when we got there on a Saturday night, but we didn't have to wait long to be seated. The decor is a little dated but okay. Our server, Jillian, was phenomenal. She definitely catered to our kiddos. It took a really long time to get our food, over an hour. That happened to all of the tables around us as well. The food, however, was beyond amazing and well worth the wait. I'd definitely go again!!!"

  • "We love this Italian restaurant in Hershey. Looks like a small sub/pizza shop in a strip mall, but is a great italian restaurant. From the moment you walk in the door, you are cheerfully greeted. Service and food always very good. After a day at the parks in Hershey, treat yourself to a night at this restaurant. You won't be disappointed."

  • "I made a reservation weeks in advance and asked for a table that would accommodate a party of 6 plus an infant. We were shoved into a booth that we could barely fit in. The only place to put the baby was out in the aisle where people were walking by with massive trays of food. The wait staff kept bumping his infant carrier as they walked by-not safe at all. I spent my "meal" standing a corner holding the baby so we were out of the way. We asked for another table and were told nothin was available unless we could wait 2 hours. Ridiculous. Plus the food was mediocre at best. Won't be back. "

  • "My family and I recently enjoyed the Mother's Day Brunch. The food was great, as always! Homemade pasta, sauce & bread! In a world with so many chain restaurants, it's great to find an authentic Italian restaurant. We loved the crab tortellini and chicken parmesan. Definitely worth a try!"

  • "I come here for the great gluten free menu. They take it very seriously and they have a real menu with lots of selections. This visit wasn't so good. It was prime time on a Saturday evening and they were crowded so I expected it to be noisy. but it was over the top noisy and I was unable to talk to my partner without yelling. Her food was hot and delicious my food was barely warm and delicious. I assume mine was made and had to sit there waiting for hers to be done. I was disappointed. The waitress was friendly, knowledgable, and hard working. I will come again but maybe not for prime time dinner"

  • "Service was slow, Skip the calamari, more legs than rings, and rubbery! Dishes just average! Try the take out counter, hero’s and pizza very good large calzone was huge and very good! They did say they would give a new platter of calamari after complaint, but not worth it!"

  • "We were visiting Hershey for the weekend and a relative had told me to try out Piazza Sorrento because of its gluten-free menu. I made an online reservation for 6:15 and then our plans changed so we called to see if we could get in an hour early. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. I expected the gluten-free menu to be like most restaurants - a small sampling of their main dishes, but most made up of meats and veggies. To my surprise, they offered a complete gluten-free menu from appetizers, salads, entrees, to pastas, pizzas, and desserts. It was amazing! We all made different selections and each one was absolutely delicious. It was even nice to have GF bread served at the table with our salads. What a wonderful experience.!"

  • "After reading the online reviews we decided to give Piazza Sorrento a try. We had a great meal! The service was excellent, the food was homemade and delicious...especially the desserts! We are from a town with a ton of great Italian restaurants. Piazza Sorrento ranks right up there with the best. If it were closer to home we would be regulars. We will be sure to go back next time in town."

  • "We thought the food was excellent. We ordered off both the regular and gluten free menus. We really appreciated the care shown to meeting our dietary needs. We couldn't quite figure out if this was supposed to be an adult classy restaurant or a fine dining one. It may be beneficial to have one dining room dedicated to family and one to adults."
