A word from Piazza Sorrento
Voted "Best New Restaurant" by Harrisburg Magazine in 2009, Piazza Sorrento is a modern Italian restaurant based on the "Old World" Italian recipes of the owner's family back in Italy. The Bolognese sauce they grew up on and the tradition of family is the cornerstone of the Piazza Sorrento dining experience. Dedicated to providing the finest in service, food, and wine at a fair and competitive price, Piazza Sorrento makes regional and classic Italian cuisine using premium local ingredients while keeping the history of the dish and region intact.

Piazza Sorrento not only provides the best in authentic Italian cooking this side of the Atlantic, but also believes that all patrons, whether adults or children, should be welcomed like one big family - even those with certain dietary requirements. That is why Piazza Sorrento is widely known for their extensive Gluten Free menu, another reason patrons routinely drive over an hour or more to dine in relative ease and safety.

We made reservations for 6:15 PM. We showed up at 6:05 PM. There were empty tables, and I knew that perhaps they might have been reserved by others. The hostess, who was a young lady (approx. 20-22 or so) said exactly this: "Well, if you have an Open Table reservation, then you're going to have to wait until your reservation time." REALLY? When you have available tables? So, I said, "Well then, perhaps I'll cancel my reservation on my phone and then you can seat me." She stated that she had to "check" on it. We sat in the waiting area. Someone else came in, who she clearly knew, and she greeted him kindly and chatted for a while. She looked at her computer after that, talked again with someone, and then seated us. Food was average. No more.

On Monday, August 5th. My family had a reservation for 5:30 p.m. We were a party of 5 and seated promptly. In about 10 to 15 minutes, our server greeted us took our drink order. Then returned with them and took our dinner order. One member of our party ordered penne with chicken. We our dinner arrive, about 10 minutes another server, came to our table and asked if the penne with chicken, if there was chicken, which there was not. Once we were done with dinner, our server asked if we were interested in desert, we said yes. She said should would be back with the desert offerings. In about 30 to 45 minutes later, she returned, by that time I was no longer interested, but one member of our dining party did get desert.

The food at Piazza Sorrento was excellent. Their chicken parm. was awesome, and I love their red sauce. So good! The bread is homemade and so delicious that you almost eat too much of it, and don't leave enough room for your meal. The lasagna is also really good. I had lobster ravioli, while it was good the sauce was just a little too sweet for me. Don't get me wrong I ate it all. We have been here many times, and will definitely go back.

Our family always enjoys dining here. Talk about authentic Italian cuisine, virtually everything on the menu (including the desserts) is homemade, the quality and portions of the food are excellent and the prices are reasonable. If you leave this restaurant hungry, shame on you! Reservations are most definitely recommended, it gets very busy depending upon what day and time that you go. They also have one of the best gluten free menus in the entire area. They have an extensive selection of beer and wine to enjoy along with your meal if you so desire. You absolutely cannot go wrong dining here, no matter what the occasion.

We started off with the crab dip appetizer, which was delicious-big chunks of crab. Tried a summer ale on tap as suggested by our server-the salad with the house dressing was inhaled with their warm rolls. I tried the small lasagna and was pleasantly full- the sauce was chunky with meat and tomatoes and spices. My husband had the Crème brulee for dessert, and it was creamy and sugary, and I enjoyed the blueberry garnish on top.

Wife and I recently removed gluten from our diets. We came across this restaurant while researching Harrisburg area gf restaurants. I'm glad we found this place! Food was amazing! Would not have known it was gf if you didn't tell me! Lots of flavor. I had clams and pasta in white wine sauce, and wife had lasagna. Both excellent. For dessert we had the gf tiramisu and homemade panna cotta. Delicious! Can't wait to go back!

Great homemade pastas, sauces, cannoli - but service a bit slow. On a Monday night but took 20 minutes to get our drinks because the bartender was being "chatty". And we had 8 people crammed around a table that would have been much better suited for 6 - even with a reservation. There were plenty of open tables that could have been combined to more comfortably accommodate our party. The food is excellent, wine list okay.

My husband and I celebrated our 44th Anniversary and chose Piazza Sorrento because we know we can always get a great meal there. It was a little crowded even at 5:30, but we were in a booth and didn't actually hear other peoples' conversations. I had the best Pasta Primavera I've ever had and the drinks were made to perfection. Husband had the crab cakes, and although they were really good, could suggest a light sauce on the plate to compliment them perhaps? We took a piece of Tiramisu home and that was delicious too. Very accommodating and gracious waitress!

We stopped in to break up the work day. Piazza Sorrento does a nice job with their pasta dishes. My spouse had the bolognese, I had a chicken penne. Both were good, my spouse seemed to like her selection better. Even though my dish was advertised as homemade pasta, the penne seemed a bit tough for fresh made. Anyway, The meal was a nice diversion in the middle of the day. Service was good.

We were driving through Hershey and needed a place to eat dinner. Found Pizza Sorrento online and boy am I glad! What a fantastic meal. I had a GF lasagna that was awesome, and it came with a nice crusty gluten free baguette. I ordered THREE gf desserts, because I just couldn't decide: Chocolate rum moose, tiramasu, and panna cotta. I liked the panna cotta best, but they were all great. The non-GF eaters in the family were very happy with their meals as well.

The place was very busy when we got there on a Saturday night, but we didn't have to wait long to be seated. The decor is a little dated but okay. Our server, Jillian, was phenomenal. She definitely catered to our kiddos. It took a really long time to get our food, over an hour. That happened to all of the tables around us as well. The food, however, was beyond amazing and well worth the wait. I'd definitely go again!!!

I made a reservation weeks in advance and asked for a table that would accommodate a party of 6 plus an infant. We were shoved into a booth that we could barely fit in. The only place to put the baby was out in the aisle where people were walking by with massive trays of food. The wait staff kept bumping his infant carrier as they walked by-not safe at all. I spent my "meal" standing a corner holding the baby so we were out of the way. We asked for another table and were told nothin was available unless we could wait 2 hours. Ridiculous. Plus the food was mediocre at best. Won't be back.

I come here for the great gluten free menu. They take it very seriously and they have a real menu with lots of selections. This visit wasn't so good. It was prime time on a Saturday evening and they were crowded so I expected it to be noisy. but it was over the top noisy and I was unable to talk to my partner without yelling. Her food was hot and delicious my food was barely warm and delicious. I assume mine was made and had to sit there waiting for hers to be done. I was disappointed. The waitress was friendly, knowledgable, and hard working. I will come again but maybe not for prime time dinner
