  • "I had the ricotta spinach pasta with a lemon cream sauce and it was fantastic. As a fan of freshly rolled pasta at home, I'm almost positive this was made in house. It was just delicious. Friends had me try a chocolate cake they are famous for, but it wasn't very impressive. Just some sort of lava cake with chocolate ganache on it. At an italian restaurant, I should have tried the Limone tart. I'll be back."

  • "We met some friends for dinner. We made a reservation and that worked out very well. This was a first-time visit for me and my wife. Table bread was a little tough. Guess they didn't want diners eating too much bread. I had the salmon with potatoes and spinach. It was absolutely delicious. The other three were all pleased with their dinners too. I thought the margaritas were a little over-priced which takes some of the fun out of drinking. Our waitperson was very good. He was friendly, professional, knowledgeable and ready to give menu advice when I asked. We will definitely go back again, maybe next time skipping the alcohol."

  • "Booked through Open Table and had a nice dinner. The food was good and some dishes have the option of getting half orders in case you don't want a big plate. The gnoochi with meatballs was good and the meatballs had a little kick. Just wish they had Peroni beer to go with the Morretti beer for more Italian choices."

  • "My wife and I had lunch at Piatti on Mother's Day. We had a reservation, and seating was had right away. Service was attentive but not overly so. Food was excellent. My wife had sautéed prawns, an appetizer made an entree by adding pasta. I had cioppino, a rare find in San Antonio. Both were excellent. Our waiter, Roy, admirably abstained from "selling up" with dessert, and we enjoyed splitting a dessert, which was satisfying and just enough for the two of us. Overall, a positive experience. "

  • "We enjoy eating at Piatti's in both locations: the Quarry and at Eilan. The food is delicious and a bit different from standard Italian. The crusty bread is to die for, and I was pleased that they brought us butter for it in addition to the normal olive oil dip. My husband ordered the gnocchi, which he said were terrific, although a bit heavy on salt that night. The mussel appetizer is a meal in itself, and I am seriously thinking of getting 2 orders of it "to go" on another night. Our waitress was attentive and cheerful. We were able to hold a conversation without yelling at each other because although it was busy, the tables are nicely spaced for privacy. All in all, a wonderful restaurant that is becoming one of our favorites! "

  • "I had dinner here with two colleagues and we ate outside. It was very noisy inside so it was a great choice. We had the best server I have had in years. Her name is Olivia. She was great at describing the food, making suggestions, giving us time to talk but making sure we had what we needed. Olivia made this dining experience exceptional. The food was good too. make sure you have the s'mores for dessert. What fun!!"

I had the ceasar salad with salmon -- great salad and enough salmon for lunch another day. My husband, who is very picky about how his fish is cooked, had salmon also and was very impressed. The service was attentive, the wine list interesting, the space welcoming -- and enough space to be able to talk to each other. We will come back."

  • "My wife and I made reservations for a Friday night at 7:00 PM with specific requests including the following requests: "away from restrooms, the kitchen, and a main walkway." Ultimately, Piatti fulfilled the aforementioned requests in full by providing a table in an out of the way location that did not feel claustrophobic. Service was adequate and although the food was good, it is not ultimately worth the relatively high price tag affixed to the mostly run-of-the-mill menu items. However, the service and environment made our dinning experience very enjoyable, but it will be a while until my wife and I feel a need to return."

  • "Showed up early for reservation on our last visit, table was ready in short order. Wait staff is always attentive, food is good - Bruschetta is very good! Good place for lunch, wine and small plates in the afternoon or dinner. Better choices if you want big Italian in SA but good spot for pasta / pizza. Have tried their Bay Area and Seattle restaurants too; San Antonio (Quarry) is better."

  • "I have to say that we got off to a rough start by being forgotten by the waiter. After I complained to a manager about the service things got on a better keel. We split the large caesar salad which was plenty. I had the flounder which was well prepared and my wife had a personal pizza on which she commented that she really enjoyed the crust which was "nan" like but still nice and thin. We will of course go again the patio dinning is worth the wait even with uneven service."

  • "The food was excellent. We had 13 people (1 last minute addition) for a birthday dinner. The restaurant put our group on a set of tables located immediately as you entered the restaurant. This meant that we had to be careful as each customer entered or left the restaurant as there was not a lot of room at that spot. We got to the table and the birthday was placed at the corner of the table and I was at the end. No room for elbows, not a good spot for the man who made the reservation and the birthday girl. The reservation was made for 10 on Friday, changed to 12 on Monday, so there was plenty of time to be placed on the roomier side of the restaurant. Good food but not taking a group back. $500 was too much for being placed in a bad spot."

  • "We made reservations for 8 on the night of prom. There were three other prom groups so it was a hot spot! The waiter was jovial and very prompt. Everyone enjoyed the food, especially the salmon and penne pasta. I didn't think the oil dip was as good as everyone says it was, but the bread was nice. The best part was that the food was very good and very inexpensive!! Each person paid around 20$ which is veryyyyy reasonable, and easy on us high school kids. Service was quick despite being busy with the usual Saturday dinner rush + several large groups. This was my first time eating here, but I would come again with my family!"

  • "I've never had a bad meal at Piatti's. My husband and I met there before going downtown for a theater performance. Food was wonderful, drinks were tasty, but the service could have been a bit quicker. We informed our pleasant server that we had a time issue, and she was cheerful about undestanding. But... our shared entree came out just in time for us to have to devour it quickly, pay the check and rush to the theater. In fact, we barely made the curtain. Not sure what took the entree so long...."

  • "We dine here often and usually love it! This trip however, fell short of expectations. We made a reservation on OT but when we arrived they didn't have a record of it. I showed the hostess my confirmation email, but she said it didn't matter, we would have to wait for a table (30 minute wait.) We were finally seated in a booth next to the bar. We were there for a romantic dinner but we couldn't even hear each other over the obnoxiously loud & large crowd at the bar. It felt like a sports bar. We skipped the appetizer, ate quickly & got dessert to-go just so we could get out of there. I still highly recommend Piati, their food is incredible, but make sure you call ahead to confirm your reservation and ask not to be seated in the bar area."

  • "Out party of six, including two children all had a wonderful experience. The 6 and 8 year olds were given a piece of pizza dough to kneed and shape with which they entertained themselves for quite a while, and then the wait staff took it to the kitchen to bake, and they ate it along with their dinner. What a great idea for the smaller children. All adults thoroughly enjoyed the meal and excellent service."

Build your own smores tableside with your own open flame. Amazing. Can't believe we don't have one of these in the Houston area. Or maybe we do? I will have to check that out."
