  • "This place meets lots of needs, lively bar, very good food, family friendly. It's kind of on our regular rotation so that should say it all."

  • "Food was just ok. No great flavor and lukewarm. Tuna was small portion for the price and mixed w other food. Nice server but should have checked quality."

  • "as we are older, we like this restaurant for daytime dining as the ambience relaxing, seating comfortable, service first rate, the food quite good, and the wine good value for the money. The menu choices are narrow, but quite sufficient to have a wonderful dinner or lunch."

  • "We went to Piatti with a small group of friends. The restaurant is right on the water. We were seated in a part of the dining room that is all glassed in. You might expect me to wax poetic about the glorious view since it truly is lovely. No poetry here since the restaurant has nothing in place that keeps the sun from totally blinding the diners. We asked to be moved but were told that wasn't an option since there wasn't a free table. As we squinted in the blinding light of the sun we saw waiters pulling a curtain closed to block the sun for the inner dining room which essentially cut us off from the rest of the dining room with no sun blocking for us! The beef tenderloin I ordered was delicious. Great service. Meal was ruined by the sun!"

  • "Our experience at Piatti was excellent. We got the flatbread and goat cheese appetizer. It came with eight pieces of freshly-baked bread with herbs, and tomatoes and fresh, creamy goat cheese. The linguine with clams had a generous amount of clams, the pasta was cooked al dente and the seasoning had just the right amount of bite (just slightly hot). The crispy half-chicken was very moist and flavorful and the potatoes and chard were delicious. If you want an intense shot of chocolate, get the flourless chocolate cake. The only minor issue was the waiter didn't notice that we needed another glass of wine, and when we asked, it took almost ten minutes to come. Otherwise, a great experience. We will definitely go back."

  • "Have been going for about a year now for brunch before going to the theater. Their brunch, especially the poached eggs over polenta, are amazing!!!!! The bread is delicious and the oil, vinegar, basil dip for the bread is the best I've ever had. Love this place!"

  • "Piattis has a varied and interesting menu -- and options for making your pasta dish smaller (a welcome addition). We love the polenta and tomato sugo brunch dish, the pizzas are always good, the pastas inventive. The dining room has a good vibe -- all ages and lots of energy. Nice stop en route to the city as well."

  • "The location and ambience is so beautiful and terrific as it looks over a beautiful inlet in Mill Valley, that is misleads the customer to think that the food and service will reflect this. However, the servers are pushy, slow and inflexible and reflect the type of service one might get at a truck stop diner. Overall, I don't think the service nor the quality of the food are worth the $$$."

  • "We really enjoyed out late lunch here. The waitress was very nice."

  • "Our servers were nice, but we felt rushed (5 of us) throughout our meal. One server was starting to take our orders, and one of our diners asked for a glass of ice, which he immediately went to get, instead of finishing taking the orders. When we were close to finishing, they took our food to wrap, but left empty plates on the table. it was like they had not waited tables before."

  • "We enjoyed a wonderful lunch overlooking Richardson Bay, on a sunny day. Not only was the view delightful, but the food was delicious. The three of us shared a buratta and tomato appetizer, and then we had small pizzas. Mine was with mushrooms, and the other two had margheritas. All of us were happy campers."

  • "Parking no longer available for self-parkers within parking lot--big inconvenience. Chopped salad--once a feature of Piatti's-- has been diluted by an excess of white romaine parts with other ingredients diced rather than chopped. No bottled spring water anymore. Heading downhill although main dishes still well designed and executed."

  • "the setting for the restaurant is overlooking the bay, especially nice outside. Brunch was great, not crowded, and no noise . The service was good, although they cleared the plates before everyone was finished eating."

  • "We had 8 ppl for Sunday brunch. Service was great the only complaint we had is the pizza came out cold and we had to send it back. The timing in the kitchen was a bit off. All in all, positive experience."

  • "I had not eaten at this restaurant for several years. I am so glad I returned. We had a wonderful meal. The food was delicious and beautifully served. We tried several appetizers and three entries. All were exceptionally good. As we were headed to a show, there was no time for dessert, so I can't comment on that, but I will definitely be back."

  • "Considering it was Mother's Day, the food and service were very good. The waitress was a little slow on the start, but once we ordered our food, The timing was fine. Food was nice and hot, and table was all served at the same time. Bus people were a little noisy tearing down & setting up tables. "

  • "My mother and I stop at Piatti after going to the San Francisco Ballet or Opera because of the ease of parking and Mom likes salmon. I am much more discerning and I found my meal to be nothing extraordinary. I ordered the special fish, Sea Bass which was perfectly cooked but sat on some strange uncooked vegetable aioli combination. The service was well intended but the restaurant got very loud as it filled up. The pricing is along the lines of other such restaurants which to me is too expensive for the food but I guess you pay for the view and ease of parking."

  • "Haven't been to Piatti's in years and was excited to have Sunday brunch there. Service was slow even though the restaurant was not full. Food was bland and some over cooked. What really turned me off was how filthy this place is. We sat in a corner window seat which had drapes hanging on one side of the table. The drapes were filthy, food chunks and stains on them. There was also a large HVAC air return next to the table on the floor. There was so much old decaying food and dust in the air return and on the grate I lost my appetite from the minute I sat down. They should learn to us a little soap and water. I won't go back and will not recommend this venue."

  • "The menu and philosophy of local and seasonal fare is one of the reasons I love this restaurant. Unfortunately, Piatti MV has an achilles heel - they seem to consistently have a few entry level servers on staff, or in the kitchen, made obvious because the service can be ghastly, probably based on timing in the kitchen or inexperience in the wait staff. On my last visit, one of us ordered two items for their entree, but he was brought half of it when the rest of the table was served, and then had to wait 20 minutes for the other half! The rest of the table had finished! Inexcusable. I will continue to patronize this restaurant, but unfortunately, many of the parties I have encouraged to dine with me here will not. It's a shame."

  • "The staff was very accommodating in acquiescing to our change in party size. The service was excellent, we sat in the patio early evening and banquets were provided for our comfort! And the food was excellent! And the views from the patio, all in all a most enjoyable dining experience ."

  • "We wanted a really good relaxed place to celebrate a 50 year anniversary. My partner Nick chose Piatti...and I agreed. We live in S.F. but our four closest friends live in Mill Valley, so Piatti made great sense for us all. We had a wide variety of entrees....everything from a pasta with shrimp to a Cobb Salad for me. I heard nothing but very positive comments from my good friends. And that brownie sundae made a delicious dessert for a couple of us sweet lovers. Thanks for the experience."

  • "The appetizer with edible tiny flowers-toast with avocado and burata-was the highlight this time. The gnocci was better this time with sausage and potato. They have a very good wine selection that goes very well with their menu.Service is always outstanding and fun as they are very busy on a weekend night. We locals are used to the Mt. Tamalpais water view-I'm sure first time visitors are overjoyed with the very European landscape.Always a fine outing."

  • "With traditional dishes jazzed up with innovative ideas the chef is doing great. Every visit provides something new and delectable while still having just the right level of comfort. Everyone in our group enjoyed a wide variety of dishes all excellently prepared and presented."

  • "This was our second visit to Piatti's and we weren't disappointed! The food is outstanding and the service outstanding too. Lovely view over Richardson Bay. This time we went on a Saturday early evening and it did become a little on the noisy side, but nothing too bad. We could certainly have a nice conversation at our table."
