  • "Piacere has great outside dining facilities, but it was cold so we ate indoors. It can be quite noisy at times, but we managed to find a fairly quiet table in the back room. Service was awesome and the food and wine were very good. We will be back soon."

  • "We reserved a table for my wife's 50th birthday and mentioned the 50th birthday in the open table reservation notes. When we got to the restaurant, they obviously did not read any of the notes as the server and maître d were totally unaware of the special occasion. The food was fantastic, the mussels appetizer was great. The short ribs entrée was delicious and very tender. My wife had the scallops and they were good sized and tasty as well. Our only problem was the server, he was very unattentive, and we had to track him down several times to get service. He forgot to get our water and did not check in with us throughout the meal. We were left sitting and waiting, not knowing when food would arrive. Highly disappointing"

  • "We've enjoyed dining at Piacere in the past, but the food this visit was not very good...skin and hard inedible pieces in the pulled chicken, which was really just pieces of chicken with mayo. Service is always good. But not sure when, or if, we'll dine there again."

  • "My family had dinner at Piacere the other night. we had not been there in a couple of years. This restaurant has so much potential, yet we were disappointed in just about everything. While the creativity of the food was interesting, it did not meet the mark. I am sorry to say we will most likely not be back. Service was slow."

  • "When we arrived and checked in with the hostess, we were greeted quite condescendingly. Nothing but one word replies even though we had a reservation. Then our hostess proceeded to seat us in a cramped corner table near the bar. I would have been fine with that if it were really busy, but the main dining room, which was clearly for reservations, was pretty empty. We say down, and 10 minutes passed without being greeted by our waiter. He attended to the table right next to us, but bluntly ignored us. Our hostess had to take or drink and food orders. Appetizers came and still no sign of our waiter. He finally made a guest appearance with our entrees, telling us to "enjoy". We finished dinner, still not knowing the name of who served us."

  • "I ordered the steak sandwich combination, it was too chewy and was a poor quality steak. This time I ordered the same, very happy with the improvement, at least a chewable and nice pcs of steak on the sandwich. However, ordered the house made ricotta gnocchi, way way way too salty and almost too much to put in mouth. Out of courtesy, we did not ask for a return but was very disappointed. Very slow and attentive service, asked for a dessert menu, it took a long while before we could find the server, and by the time the menu came, it was too late and we ran out of time to order dessert during a restrictive lunch time. Ended up with no dessert. Very disappointing."

  • "This restaurant has a great location on Laurel St. with the best outdoor seating of any of the local restaurants. Unfortunately, their food is not consistent. I've been there several times for lunch and also brunch and the food and service was very good. At dinner, it has been more inconsistent. This time, both my husband and myself commented to each other that the food seemed bland and under seasoned. In fact, my husband asked for peppers to try to liven it up. We both had pasta dishes. Mine had crab and his was primarily sausage and chicken. I wouldn't order it again. In fact, I'm not sure that I would go back for dinner as it is more expensive than lunch and not that great. Our service was also underwhelming."

  • "We have loved Piacere ever since Chef Miriam took it over several years ago. We went again day before yesterday for my 50th birthday, and they did not disappoint. There were eight of us eating family style, and every appetizer, salad, pizza, pasta, main, and dessert we had was delicious, especially the roasted mussels in an iron skillet and the fresh pea agnolotti. Everything was tasty -- the kale salad, the beet salad, the smokey pork chop, the apricot bread pudding. The french fries! (we had to order a second basket). My nine year old is always happy to go there, too, which makes it a happy affair for everyone."

  • "With Valentine's Day closing in, we decided to beat the rush and make our reservation for the day before. This ended up being a good choice, since we'd happened by chance to pick a night with live music. While the bar area was jumping—that's where the band was playing—the dining area in the back was relaxed, and just far enough away for the music the come through without the bar noise. We started with the meatballs and the prawns; it was hard to part with any of the marinara sauce from the meatballs, so thank goodness for the homemade bread. Lamb T-bone and scallops for the main course were equally succulent. Their cocktail menu made an excellent substitute for the slightly-pricier-than-average wine list; high marks for the Iced Apple Pie."

  • "Valentines day special menu at $75 dollars a person means you're really paying $100 per head with wine and taxes, even before tip. For these prices, you expect a special and memorable experience. This restaurant's food is fine, but it does not justify these prices. The tables are jammed so close together the waiters have trouble serving the plates. The experience was just not worth the money."

  • "I must say I was very disappointed. Prepriced menu of $75.00 a person was outrageous for what was offered. My lamb was dry and you could not get the prime rib cooked to order. The only dishes that was decent was the grilled asparagus and desert. Oysters Rockerfeller we small and not very Rockerfeller."

  • "I just tried Piacere this past weekend for brunch and it was great. We were seated right away, didn't have to wait for drinks, and the breakfast section of the brunch menu is short and sweet so making a selection was quick and easy. Initially I wondered why there weren't more options but actually the ones listed all sounded really good! My friend ordered the french toast w/ fresh strawberries and I got the breakfast plate (sort of like a sampler -eggs, pancake, sausage, fruit) We had plenty of food to fill us up and it was all very tasty. I recommend."

  • "My husband and I had a romantic dinner here. We were seated outside and even though it was November, the heaters kept us warm all night. The patio opened up in to the street. There was live music inside which you could appreciate from anywhere in the restaurant due to the open patio area. The food was good, perhaps not the best but considering my usual high demands for quality I'd say it's a pretty good rating still. What was disappointing was the cheese plate, which contained very little cheese in general, and for the price we paid for it. We've also been to this place for lunch, which I also recommend if you're in the area."

  • "We had a group of 16 in one of the private dining room. When we first arrived, the tables were set for 14, even though I gave the final count of 16 - the server said that he was not told that. The room was a bit too small. The tables were set in a "T" shape, so it is hard for communication between the two people sitting at the end of the top to the rest of the group. We had three main course selections: French Toast, Fillet of Salmon and Short Rib Hash. The first 2 items looked really good, and the 3rd one is OK. The bottomless mimosa was a popular drink order. One of the guest ordered Gin Fizz and he said that it was terrible. Overall, good experience for the Group."

  • "A large group of us went there recently and it was perfect with a lively atmosphere and room to comfortably sit. Food and service were fine and we left as happy diners. For a Saturday night in San Carlos, I was surprised to see the bar up front still packed with people at 10pm. It is a nice place to go."

  • "I've eaten here many times, but it's very inconsistent. I've had good meals here, but I've also had bad service several times. When the service is bad, it's really bad. I've had food come out completely cold, waited an hour to receive food, had food come out only partially cooked, etc. It's really too bad because this place has good potential based on its good menu and prime location."

  • "I chalk it up to New Year's Eve as it has been good at other times Service was sub-par they took one of our parties knife from the second course and gave it to another person for the third course While non-hygienic it left the original person no knife for the entry's his is just one example but entire service went like this Perhaps on a holiday they have the b team because service has been good other times For the past I would recommend them but perhaps not for holidays"

  • "Town and Mistral were booked, so we ended up at Piacere. The restaurant was full of private parties, so our 'reservation' was in the bar. We were late, but they were gracious about it. The food was disappointing, my butternut squash, kale and quinoa dish was bland, boring, and mushy. Worse, the service was amateur. As an example, they continuously put dishes/bread etc between two people talking when there was plenty of room to not be invasive. I would not bring a client here for that reason."

  • "Dinner was a little disappointing. First they sat us in the main dining room (which was very cold). We then moved to the front of the restaurant which was a little better. The waitress came to ask for our drink order and we all wanted a passion fruit martini (which was listed on their website) and was told that they never had one. The food was all right but by then the night had been spoiled."

While I would have liked a larger table (trying to keep things away from my son at a four person table was annoying), the service was kid-friendly and they had a kids menu.   • "We needed a good lunch/brunch location for a Saturday that would welcome a party of 9. The staff was very accommodating about moving tables around to suit our needs, as the preset table was in the bar and we had several family members with hearing issues. The bar was nicely crowded and appropriately noisy, we just didn't want to be in there? So they moved us happily and successfully, the food was excellent and a great mix at 1230 of brunch and lunch items. Cocktails were enjoyed by all who ordered them, a couple of folks took advantage of the $14 Endless Mimosa and our server was generous with the endlessness. try the donuts..."

  • "The food and wine were very good with a good variety. Great flavors. Presentation a plus. Our table was sharing the various specialties. The South City Blues band was great and added to the atmosphere. Some wanted cocktails. They guys were happy with the various beers on draft. The wine list looked pretty good, but we didn't check it out in detail and went by the glass. My house Merlot was very good. I would recommend this place for a couple or a group party."

  • "we sat at the bar, our favorite place in most restaurants. our food came to us lukewarm. I asked for a "medium" steak, it was rare. The ribs were better, but nothing had much flavor. At first we asked for something and were told it was not available. We weren't offered bread til 1/2 way thru the meal. The ambience was sort of grim, until some good live music started around 9. we will not be returning to this restaurant. sorry."

  • "I took my team from work (13 of us). They gave us a private room, which was very nice. The service was great but the food was met with mixed reviews. The pasta dishes were great but the burger and ribs did not go over well. The triple chocolate mousse for dessert was fantastic. Overall - we have a great time and I would recommend!"

  • "There was terrible traffic on the night of our reservation and we arrived 20 minutes late. Fortunately, we had booked early and it caused no problems. We were warmly received and shown a good table. Meal service was quietly efficient and attentive with one exception. One appetizer was brought to the table 5 minutes ahead of the other. It was a salad. The other appetizer was from the restaurant's hot oven and took a little time. The salad could have waited. Other than that, it was a good evening. We especially appreciated being able to have a quiet conversation without raised voices. Serene time!"
