Diner Reviews
  • "Our server, Jenna, started us with the bartender's special Rosemary Gimlet and the owner's favourite Malbec. Our entrees were beautifully presented and perfectly prepared. Our server, Jenna, was wonderfully attentive, while still allowing our party to visit. She's a star, and PCG is a great local spot with fabulous food and service."

  • "Perfect environment for a sales team meeting. We are all from out of town or had never been to your restaurant and used Open Table to guide my choice. The restaurant was excellent. I will go to Phoenix City Grille again on my future visits to Phoenix. I had a beet salad and an incredible beef chile appatizer that was delicious! My reservation time changed by an hour last minute and they accomodated us no problem. We also had fewer people show up than planned and they were great about it. They were completely accommodating!"

  • "This has become our new 'favorite' spot. The menu is varied and interesting with the service consistently above average with professional and friendly servers. It seems to be a well loved place for friends to meet and socialize. The bar is always full with people having fun. We like the ambience and pace of the place and plan to visit many times in the future."

  • "The server was too pushy. We told her we were not in a hurry, but she seemed to be in a hurry to serve us. too many interruptions."

  • "I have been dining here since it opened. Always had great food and prompt and courteous service. Prices are affordable. I have never had a bad experience at the Phoenix City Grille. This is my favorite place to eat."

  • "This is a perfect spot for a business lunch! We use it all the time. Not too loud, so you can have conversation, but plenty of energy."

  • "I catagorize restaurants based upon how memorable the meal was. I have been dining at PCG since it opened and am continually surprised and amazed by their specials. The regular menu is good enough to keep me coming back, but the daily specials are so foodie and uniformly excellent that the place is always interesting. Several of my "That was one of the best things that I have ever eaten" moments happened there."

  • "For a grille, I would expect a more inspired menu of roast meat and fish. The "Philly Cheesesteak" has nothing whatsoever to do with a tradition. Frankly, I would avoid it."

  • "In the dozen or so times we have dined at Phoenix City Grille we have never been disappointed. Service, food, ambience are consistently excellent. We were a little disappointed that our weekend appetizer coupon was not valid on a Sunday night especially since the restaurant was not real busy."

  • "We had a family get together and Phoenix City Grille was a great place to meet. The service and food were very good. A couple of us had the trout and were not disappointed. Week will be back!"

  • "I reserved a table for a business meeting and was pleasantly surprised at the culinary experience. Not only was it a nice atmosphere for this small meeting but there were wonderful dishes that distracted me from the business for a time. Will definitely return"

  • "I had my favorite thing at Phoenix City Grill, the bacon-wrapped shrimp. my date had the ribs and they were fall-off the bone yummy. His corner piece of cornbread, however, was dry."

  • "In a time when every restaurant seems to think that being loud will make it seem edgy and cool, this was an oasis of serenity...even as it filled for lunch. We had a nice booth, and the menu had too many choices even for this high-maintenance eater: beet salad was lovely. A free dessert to celebrate a birthday, good attention to water and coffee refills, a personable and friendly waiter who was not at all obsequious. I will definitely be back!"

  • "Had a chance to meet with friends for dinner. The service was prompt and friendly, but got a few things wrong on the order (promptly fixed). No push to get us out. This is a place you can always count on."

  • "I took some friends (two adults and their 2.5 year old kid) from out of town to the Phoenix City Grille, and it was great! The mom has celiac disease (she has actually been diagnosed, so *for real* no gluten for her), the dad is vegan, and I am on a low-carb diet. We were basically a server's worst nightmare, but she never batted an eye at all the special requests and substitutions. Gluten free menu options are plentiful and clearly labeled, there was a spectacular veggie plate for him, and I got the cedar-plank salmon, which was fabulous. It's not a coloring book menu type restaurant for kids, but they did have booster chairs and kiddo-friendly menu items. I highly recommend this place, especially if you are dining with a diverse group."

  • "PCG offers consistently high quality food at reasonable prices in an attractive environment. While sometimes it's easy to forget they're just around the corner, they deserve our loyalty."

  • "We were a party of 4 and the evening was enjoyed by all. After an appetizer of Griddled Corn Cakes with Black Beans and a very pleasant ambiance background, the dinner began on a very high note. The waitress was great and the ensuing entrees of steak, trout and ribs all were prepared well and were delicious. Desserts were also delicious. I certainly would recommend this restaurant."

  • "We've been going to Phoenix City for over ten years now, always have a great experience, and the food is always spot on. But this time the Chef must have had a bad day, my halibut was overcooked, and I mean really overcooked, and my husband's Osso Bucco was tough. This will not interfere with our going to Phoenix City, but hope this doesn't happen again."

  • "Sunday brunch was delightful. Everyone enjoyed their selections. The menu has some interesting twists on old favorites like eggs Benedict with filet mignon and chipotle hollandaise or pork tenderloin on corn cake instead of an English muffin. The griddles corn cakes are to die for. Sweet, savory, and a bit spicy, plus bacon!"

  • "We obtained the name of the restaurant from the internet. Reservation was very easy. Accidentally, we selected the wrong date but modifying the reservation was straight forward and fast. There was sufficient parking available directly outside of the restaurant. We were a party of five and all had different food selections. In all cases the food was very good. Only the service took a bit long. "

  • "Good food, convenient location, good service. It can be a bit noisy. Don't try to drop in on a Friday evening. Very crowded at that time. The server usually offers the birthday celebrator a lovely dessert and five extra spoons. Yeah! Haven't I reached 50 characters yet? "

  • "This is a favorite place of ours and has been for years. The changes to the menu and physical space have been very positive. It is always busy so reservations are recommended on weekends for sure. Happy hour has some excellent appetizer deals, and you will see a crowd that ranges from young couples with small children to the senior set as well. We love the ribs, the salmon is excellent, and the specials are usually different and yummy. I had a Corvina Sea Bass special this past visit with a peach salsa that was a lovely piece of fish and the salsa was luscious with fresh peaches and grape tomatoes. Their short ribs are fantastic as well. I usually have a very hard time deciding what to have!"

  • "We celebrated Mothers' Day on the prior Saturday evening with a group of eight adults and teenaged children. We were seated in the newer expansion area of the restaurant, and the ambiance there is not quite as good as for the main part of the restaurant. Service was competent and friendly, but was (at best) leisurely, i.e. quite slow. Normally, the service here is not rushed, but moves along with no delays. Maybe this was just a bad evening. The food was great, as usual."

  • "Staff was always busy but attentive, food was very flavorful, the wine was wonderful, price are reasonable, the whole experience is so much better than going to a national restaurant chain. You should try it, and if you have tell a friend. That's how we found out about the Phoenix City Grill, through a friend. ENJOY!"

  • "Made reservations for 5:30 (on busy Friday night) since we were going to the theater@ 8:00! Upon checking with hostess and asking for the patio I was told we needed to sit indoors as a big private party was in progress. Being escorted to our table it was about 5 minutes before the server approached & I inquired if we were in time for Happy Hour. (I'd gone on their website & checked out items on their HH and main menu.) The server indicated HH was only served in bar & patio areas which were taken. Shortly after returning to my table we were approached by (Sheldon co-owner) who apologized & agreed their website needed Happy Hour clarification but graciously gave us a HH menu. Great customer service & FANTASTIC food! We'll BE BACK!"

  • "Our Server made our evening because she was very pleasant, fun and went with the flow. I had the plank salmon that was good and the margaritas (fresh squeezed juice not the mix) were delicious!! The Restaurant was flexible and allowed us to sit and order drinks and appetizers while waiting for the rest of our party. I would recommend it and the next time I am in Phoenix because it is not far from our Pointe Hilton . Parking may be a little tight but there is room around the building. "

  • "I have eaten at the Phoenix City Grill somewhat frequently and have never been disappointed. Especially for lunch. Have a fine menu although I keep coming back to the PCG Pasta. Every time I take different guests they are as pleased and impressed with the food, service and ambience as I am."

  • "I was hosting a dinner for several business associates that were all attending the same conference I was in Phoenix. I wasn't very familiar with the area so I relied on the recommendations of a few friends. The restaurant met everyone's expectations foodwise, the service was excellent (table was ready to go when we arrived), and the noise level was enough to create some energy but not so loud that we couldn't have a conversation at our table. The menu had a lot of twists on traditional favorites and met the needs of my diverse group of 8. I would highly recommend it to anyone!"

  • "Went with great expectation and was disappointed by the food. The place is nice but the execution was lacking. The daily special of Black Cod was very low quality of fish and smelled. They took care of it but I was not impressed enough to come back for dinner. "
