Diner Reviews
  • "Great experience amazing service great food the servers were great made me feel comfortable the ambiance was beautiful I love this place"

  • "I really thought that it was going to taste better. And way too expensive for Asian food. Is it me or people are faking good food now?"

  • "The food at Philippe is always excellent - particular favorites are the chicken satay and crispy beef. The service once we were seated was also very good; however, most of the front of house staff were quite rude. We arrived right on time for our reservation and yet were made to wait nearly 40 minutes to get a table with no apology and an icy brush-off each time we asked for an update. Finally the nicer hostess explained that they had too many people come in around an hour to half an hour before our reservation. I understand that you cannot kick people out, but if you have OpenTable, you should be able to manage your numbers. And of course there is no need to be rude to your diners for a problem that is not at all their fault."

  • "Celebrated a birthday here and the service was superb. We had our own private room/area so if you are looking to celebrate a birthday or special occasion the private room upstairs can seat up to 25 people and the music was played at a moderate level so you could have conversations across the table without shouting. I really lucked out with this place and would definitely celebrate future special occasions here."

  • "Everything was excellent from appetizers to entree's. Taste was very good."

  • "Third time at this restaurant. Everything we have ever ordered has been wonderful. Helpful and attentive service. Absolutely wonderful food. An A+ experience all the way around."
    Dined on 7/11/2014
  • "We were immediately rushed to order before 10, which is not a problem because I am aware that the kitchen has a set time to close. However, no one checked in to see if we even enjoyed the food or whether we needed anything else. It was also my Birthday no one asked if we wanted dessert. The workers were simply focused on closing. Therefore, they should not have taken us at 9:45 pm."

  • "Finally a semi replacement for our all time fave Chinatown Brasserie (which closed over 2 years ago). The Peking duck here is really fantastic! The must have steak (crispy outer and juicy inside) is another must have."

  • "Philippe was the perfect choice to dine quietly with my girlfriend while a violent thunderstorm raged outside. The food is amazing and the service is top notch. I would recommend this to everyone."

  • "I absolutely love the food however the service was very slow. Ordered our drinks when we were first seated took 20-25 min to be served. Space is very tight so there is nothing personal about the seating because the next person is within arms reach. Needs an expansion half the size if Philippe Miami would be nice and valet parking."

  • "This was my first time visiting phillipe and I have to say I am absolutely pleased. This was the BEST food I have EVER had. I am not a big fan of Chinese or Japanese food but my dinner was amazing. I will definitely be back to visit."

  • "The food was excellent and the atmosphere is great."

  • "The food we had for dinner was terrible. One appetizer was chopped seaweed which was so fine you had difficulty eating eat. Also, it was all coated in sugar which is totally inappropriate. One entree was sweat and sour pork. The pork had little taste and it was covered with such a thick salt and sugar sauce that it smothered any other taste. Also, there were almost no vegetables in this dish. The other entree was crispy beef most of which was so crispy all you were tasting was the coating. One of the worst meals ever!"

  • "It was good quiet the staff was very attentive , the section we was in was very comfortable , it was like we was in our own little section, the waiter was very polite and was always available, heard this place was a little more vibrant but it was a little to early on a Friday afternoon, will definitely come back"

  • "Quality food. Service attentive but forgot the dumplings we ordered. Tried bringing them after the main course was already out. Food was very good. Service otherwise very attentive. "

  • "To say we were disappointed is an understatement. Cantonese food sauced up to make it palatable for Americans. Beijing chicken swimming in sweet brown sauce Chicken pieces sort of like chicken nuggets. Halibut chunks also swamped in sauce. One of th chefs gave a show of making noodles. Great flourish of wacking dough against a wooden plank. Reminded me a bit of Beni Hanna. Check for two: $155. Minus the tip. Never again "

I had the chicken satay (AMAZING) and the crispy beef (delicious) and to drink I had the Phillippe passion. We sat upstairs which wasn't a problem at all. • "We enjoyed the food - simple but tasty - crispy duck, bok choy, lettuce wraps, chicken satay (deliciously buttery), but it was a little expensive for Chinese food, albeit excellently prepared."

  • "I had the lunch special and it was good! I'll go back soon. The chicken satay is out of this world, the salmon tasty and the coconut sorbet was to die for!!!! "

  • "Wonderful food, good service and the best chicken satay in town. I really recommend this restaurant. "
    Dined on 5/2/2014
  • "We dined at Philippe with great expectations, but the pork dumplings and the shrimp dumplings wer sticky and tasteless. Better the duck rolls. The chicken and the crispy duck were less than average, something you can easly find in a cheap eatery for 1/3 of the price. In midtown there are far better options for Chinese food."
    Dined on 4/29/2014
  • "The Phillipe has a very diferent and delicious forms to prepare a tradicional chinese food. We taste crisps plates, and until now, we don't be able to discover how can they do these."

  • "Always worth my time & appetite. Thanks much. See yal soon"

  • "Perhaps it was the 7:00 pm seating right after Happy Hour that had a couple of groups screaming instead of talking, but the noise level was intolerable. My wife and I could not carry on a decent conversation because of the constant yelling nearby. The food was okay and the service was adequate, but the overall experience was spoiled by the screaming crowd. "

  • "I took my daughter here on our first trip to NYC, after recommendations from friends. Great location near our hotel and Central Park/5th Ave. We were seated next to a family with a very loud 3 year-old, so I think our experience on the noise meter was not typical. The service was good and the food was excellent. The price of the food reflects the location of the restaurant. I would say we had a good meal, but not an amazing meal. The folks next to us enjoyed a peking duck that was carved for them at their table, and looked amazing."
