Sides outstanding - baked potatoe, Mushrooms, Mashed potatoes. Caesar Sald great too. Salad came on a delicious parmesan dish. Ambiance was nice, casual steakhouse,could easily carry on conversation. My wife says it's because it reminds me of Il Mulino in Greenwich Village -- an old fashioned, family-run Italian gem. The bone-in rib eye is my favorite. I actually dream about this steak. The group having a few beers was having a typical animated conversation like most that occur in bars. The problem was that they were about 8 feet from our table, making it difficult for our party to converse. Luckily for us, the group disbanded about 10 minutes into our evening. From that point on we were free to enjoy our fantastic service and the tremendous steaks, pasta, and salmon. They have excellent italian dishes, but also very nice steak and fish. We ate in the bar area this time to listen to the jazz group. The maitre d' also is a excellent singer, and has a wonderfully genuine affection for customers. He would sing a few bars, then visit with customers, and return to sing some more. Client commented at least three times how tasty her chicken milanese was. My coworker had the grilled salmon and it was grilled perfectly to her liking. I had the salmon sandwich, which had an excellent mustard dill mayo. Staff was friendly and attentive, prices were reasonable and food was excellent. We could not have been more pleased! From the time we were greeted at the door until the last decadent piece of chocolate cake, they never missed a beat. The food was incredible -my wife ordered the filet, rare +. It arrived cooked to perfection and was so tender you coiuld cut it with a fork. I opted for the linguini Frutti De Mare which was packed with seafood and a sauce to write home about. The food, as is well known, is terrific. The night was amazing. All we can say is thank you for making our daughter's 1st birthday so special.

Wait staff is nicely attendant without being intrusive, and has a thorough knowledge of the menu.
My group of four had pasta; veal; and two salads-as-entres, so a good sampling of the lunchtime offerings was made. Unbeknownst to me, it was like walking in to an old friend. I loved the atmoshphere!! It was romantic and I felt like I was taken back into time. We ate in the lounge near the Jazz Trio live band and it was not pretentious at all. I loved that we could have a conversation without yelling at eachother and the food and service was top notch. I would recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for a great business meal, a great dinner before a show, or a romantic supper.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe'd go again!We had an exceptional visit to Stefani's; first on a Saturday night where we were thoroughly entertained by an extremely tasteful Jazz trio ensemble (Rio Bamba) and excellent meal specials at the bar - and then again later in the week where we sat in the main dining area. We liked the food so much that we returned on our last evening in Chicago to enjoy the wonderful Barata salad , fresh pastas, and steak offerings. Our server made wonderful recommendations and even brought out a display of meat cuts to help us with our selection. This kind of attention to detail and service made the evening a memorable one.
