Diner Reviews
  • "We entertained clients and it was the perfect spot. The oysters, our entrees, the dessert, and service were above & beyond. I would definitely go back when in town. We ran into other people with Hilton and they were equally impressed. Our clients enjoyed it - thank you!"

  • "437 Rush was the perfect venue to enjoy a delicious meal with work colleagues after a long day of work. Our waitress was amazing (can't remember her name, but she was from Serbia.) The collaboration and smooth intertwining service we received from our waitress, staff and even the gentleman who displayed your beautiful cuts of meat was fantastic. We even experienced the wonderful singing from another gentleman. Great night all around. Thank you for your wonderful restaurant."

  • "My wife and I have been to Chicago many times. Therefore, we wanted to try a restaurant we have never been to. At the same time something within walking distance to the Hyatt. It was cold and windy that. So we searched Open Table and found Phil Stefani's 437 Rush. It was perfect for us. The ambiance, service and quality of food were very good."

  • "We celebrated my husband's birthday and were well taken care of by the staff. Highlights of the evening were a serenade by the manager and the wedge of chocolate cake."

  • "I've made reservations here twice and both times that we came in, the bar area was so energetic (with conversations, not loud music) we opted to eat there instead of the dining room, which is separated very nicely for those looking for quite dining. We always enjoy the food as well and it stands out is a nice place to spend with friends for a couple of hours."

  • "it always seemed to me that many restaurants have lost sight of how to purvey and prepare a steak properly, let alone perfect. 437 rush reliably does both. My favorite is that they can cook a steak properly without burning the outside."

  • "We had a great waiter named Miguel. He was very attentive and made great recommendations!"

  • "Ended up here last minute, and so glad we did - we wouldn't have had a more fun dinner anywhere else in the city. The staff is very upbeat and friendly - but the best part is the "singing" manager. Ask him to sing your Italian favorite song or any Frank Sinatra lyrics ... you will be impressed - Great Saturday night"

  • "I went to 437 with some business associates from Europe, and we were treated to an amazing evening!! From the moment we walked in the door, we were treated incredibly well. A warm greeting, our coats were taken and we were lead to our table. The food was delicious, from some of the meats, shrimp cocktail and other appetizers, all were presented beautifully and tasted even better. The main courses were delicious, and EVERYONE loved their dinner. I personally had the filet and it was cooked perfectly, it melted in my mouth. I also had grilled onions, prepared different than most places, but extremely tasty! And against my better judgment, I was forced to eat desert! The cheesecake was very good... but the chocolate cake..WOW!"

  • "Seafood was excellent, steaks were excellent. Side dishes were excellent...probably the best restaurant food we've had recently. Service was excellent...attentive but not overbearing. The main course arrived very very quickly. Nice ambiance but very noisy, you have to shout to be heard."

  • "We found this by chance at the Open Table web-site and decided to dine here on a weekend get-a-way. It has a great location on Rush, the ambiance was very nice, we were warmly greeted, the food was very good and the service was fantastic!! Will definately go to Stefani's again!!"

  • "We have visited a number of times before and the food is always excellent!! Even when they are busy the managers are always walking around to make sure you don't need anything. They have a great laid back atmosphere. I would recommend this to anyone."

  • "437 Rush did not disappoint. I ordered the 10 oz. prime new york strip and it was simply the best steak I have ever had. Sea bass was the other choice and again, it was outstanding. The wine list is very adequate and fairly priced. The service was just right - attention to the table but not overwhelming. Looking for great food and a peaceful atmosphere - then Phil Stefani's 437 Rush is your place. I will be trying out his other restaurants also."

  • "Continues to provide steaks that are among the best in Chicago. If you want don't want to be wedged in near the table next to you, enjoy a conversation with your fellow diners, and have steaks that rival the "biggies," go here. The service is outstanding (thanks George!), the steaks cooked exactly the way you order, and the sides are not an afterthought. And good Italian food as well. Just off Michigan, it's a convenient location. Don't miss this place."

  • "Lovely neighborhood dining spot for evening with friends. Service was excellent without being intrusive. Food was ok but there is room for improvement. No lobster in lobster bisque and very little seafood in fettuccine with seafood. Would return but try something else on menu."

  • "We had read that one of the attractive features of Phil Stefani’s was the friendliness of the staff. We definitely felt welcome from the time we walked in the front door. The hostess, the Maitre de and our waiter, Francisco, were all friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Everything we had to eat was excellent. Although calamari was not on the menu as a separate item, we asked if we might have some. Francisco never missed a beat and, in a few minutes, presented us with a dish of fried calamari that was tender and delicious. For dinner, my wife had a filet with mushroom sauce and I had the grilled Chilean Sea Bass. Both were handsomely served, tasty and portions were generous. We will visit this restaurant again!"

  • "Restaurant was busy early for Valentines diners. Greeted by very friendly staff, who took our heavy coats for us. Nice ambience. Food was good, service was excellent. The tenderloin and asparagus were perfect, but the lobster a bit overcooked. Looks like they have a good daily Happy Hour, so planning to try that soon."

  • "This restaurant came with mixed reviews, however a co-worker said her aunt enjoyed it so we went for a nice Valentine's Day dinner. Sadly I found the poor reviews to be accurate. My date and I both ordered dirty martinis with olives, it took them 3 trips to get hers right - I gave up after 2. The staff was friendly enough, however although it was not busy it still took quite awhile to get service. The food was a bit sub-par; I had the lobster which came out a bit overcooked and rubbery, and my girlfriend ordered a steak which came out, again, overcooked. The total bill came out to $214 (with tip) but was not worth it. I would usually give a restaurant a second chance but for that kind of money I'm not sure it's worth the risk."

  • "From the time we arrived at 437, the evening was awesome. I noted in the reservation that a booth sit near window was preferred (boyfriend loves booths, me tables) and this is one time that both requests were met. Our hostess sang to us as we proceeded to our table another plus. Waitress and and overall staff very attentive and pleasant. And the meal was excellent and worth the price. We will definitely be back soon. Thanks for making our Valentine's night great!!!!!"

  • "I took a new friend that I've been dating for a little while for Valentines Day. She was surprised and we both were impressed. The server was a big help and the lighting was dimmed with candles everywhere. Only bad thing about it is that we sat next to the window/wall and it seemed to be a draft making it a lot colder than other areas in the building. Valet didnt take long either with bringing back the car."

  • "Our waitress Kim was polite and efficient, 4 stars I would give her 5 if she had told be the crab legs were going to be $80.00 a la carte. I couldn't believe that when Crab legs are currently $19.99 a lb at the grocery, how can they justify charging so much? They weren't even good, fair at best, they were dry a lil fishy tasting and the butter was unsalted. I wish I would have ordered them boiled not broiled. I had a spinach salad, the flavor and freshness was good but the dressing was very oily. I had three grapefruit Martini's and never even caught a buzz. The best thing about the eve. was the dessert, a chocolate soufflé, best I ever had. My salad, crab legs and 3 mediocre cocktails; cost $122.00 plus a 20% tip $147.00 "NOT WORTH IT" :("

  • "My wife and I ate for our first time at Phil Stefani's this last Valentines Day. We selected the restaurant because we wanted to try something new and the reviews we read were mostly very good. We were not disappointed. The service was very good, the menu was good and the food was great. A little pricy but for a special occasion, it was fine."

  • "You know people like their jobs when they break into song for no reason, and that's what happened when we went to Phil Stefani's 437 Rush. Very nice people, crisp, pleasant service, and very very good food. I had the Veal Chop which was cooked perfectly and had a ton of flavor. The Caesar salad comes in a parmesan crusted eatable boat, very good. If you're not sure which side to get, order the creamed spinach. Don't miss the mural behind the bar..."

  • "My friend and I were looking for a European type dining experience after attending the sailboat show. We found it and WOW. From the warm sincere greeting at the door to letting us occupy the table talking well after the bill had been settled it was a great night. The menu is varied with an Italian slant. Everything we ate was carefully prepared and tasted superb."

  • "As always we had an excellent dinner in a great restaurant. The seafood - oysters - were great as was the charcuterie platter. The scallop appetizer was very good as well. Steaks were great as always and your wine selections are good and do not break the bank. We ended with the Stefani Steamer - a great drink after frigid days."

  • "We dined at Phil Stefanis on Saturday night with another couple. We had been staying in the city since Friday enjoying time away from home. Phil Stefanis was a wonderful way to cap off our weekend and time together!! Excellent service , very attentive and helpful. We especially enjoyed the serenade we received from the manager!! Food was excellent, nice atmosphere to sit, relax and enjoy our meal. We look forward to dining there again and would certainly recommend it to others."

  • "My husband and I went to Chicago for a birthday getaway and we choose Phil Stefani's for dinner. We ordered the seafood sampler first and we were blown away, all the selections were amazing and fresh. We both ordered pasta for dinner and we were not impressed with our meals, I think Phil Stefani's is more known for steak and not pasta. We did order the chocolate cake and again blown away. Over all the meal was nice but I wish our main meal was a little tastier."

  • "First the food. Everything was fantastic. Our beef and seafood were well prepared and flavorful. Prices were on the lower end in comparison to other steak restaurants in the city. Another great plus! The service was impeccable. Our first waiter and busboy were very attentive. They catered to our every need. We had so much fun catching up we didn't realize it was closing time. Another waiter decided to join in the fun. That was when the real experience happened. My friend decided to pull one of those "random act of kindness" moves. He gave the waiter a $600 tip and asked to have his picture with the waiter put on the wall so other people can try to top that. All to benefit the wait staff. Our evening truly was, an affair to remember!"
