A word from Petty Cash Taqueria
Walter Manzke's Petty Cash is a semi-authentic taqueria with myriad talent drawn from East LA, Baja and beyond. Petty Cash's menu features re-conceptualized street food classics driven by the best local, seasonal ingredients, rooted in multi-generational tradition and technique.

Featuring urban elements such as hand-painted murals by local street artist RETNA, a back room with shuffleboard, and picnic style tables and bench seating which lend to a relaxed and playful communal dining experience. The street art meets street food vibe channels the spirit of Tijuana circa 1986 meets 2013. The equally spirited cocktail program by Executive Beverage Director Julian Cox features unique craft cocktails on draft, eclectic Mexican spirits and a beer cellar.

Such a great vibe and one of the best, freshest Mexican restaurants I've been to. New favorite restaurant in LA! Small plates, but very affordable and satisfying... not your typical disappointment by small plate places. This place is awesome!

Overall I'd say its ok. The food is average nothing special. I do appreciate the versitality on the menu. Crickets in your taco? Urchant in your ceviche? Kale and cauliflower nachos? Came with a group of 4 and for $97 we each for 2 tacos, a beer or house margarita, and shared nachos. There's was a great energy in the air. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Our server ( Julie, if I remember correctly) was friendly and attentice. However Im not sure if I'd return here...

This is by far one of the very best Taqueria's around, any area… well worth the drive from our home that is in Century City area.. Food is to "die for "… everything on the menu is yummy and nice presentation… bar, makes a good drink, as well.. They truly honor your reservation and our table for 8 was waiting for us… so refreshing … This was our second trip to Petty Cash and definitely not our last…: ) Nice manager , so welcoming and nice server as well… they make you feel so welcomed and will do everything to make you happy..

The food is very good. The tacos are a little small for the price, but other dishes can make up for it and will really fill you up. I recommend getting a quesadilla along with an order of the potato tacos. Drinks are also very good.

I've been to this spot twice in the last few weeks. Both times the food, service, atmosphere and general impressions have all been really positive. The management is so kind and attentive, the service at the bar is lovely and the food is SO SO good. Their fish taco is worth the drive from the west side. The guac and the Brixton are enough to keep me coming back. Love this place.

The place is really good and a fun atmosphere. The bathroom is only one stall so the line for the women's can get very long. The drinks are very good and there is a large selection the food is hit or miss some items were very good some items were just average. But the price for the portion and how good it is doesn't work.

First time visit, didn't know what to expect. At first thought it was going to be too loud but sitting at one of the high tops it worked out O.K. The food was very interesting, lots of smaller dishes, not typical Mexican which for the most part turned out to be very good. Good tequila and beer selection.

Not a bad spot at all. Some of the food was incredibly tasty and there was really nothing that was bad in the slightest. The drinks are overpriced and nothing special though. The wrong place to go on a date though. Way too loud and just the wrong vibe. I would definitely be open to going back with some friends though.

This is the second time visiting here and probably the last. Through the tacos - carne asada and al pastor - were very good, the salad and the Brussels sprouts were not great at all. It is extremely loud in the restaurant. Don't go with a group because you'll never hear what anyone is saying.

I wouldn't say that this is the BEST, most authentic taco in LA, nor would I say it is the CHEAPEST taco in LA... however, it is a good "happy medium" if you want really delicious food without having to eat from a paper plate while sitting on the curb. The restaurant is very nice inside and is very active. They have a full bar with specialty cocktails and a long list of beers. Price-wise, you'll spend about $4 per taco --- the potato tacos are delicious and the best deal going (3 for $3.50, I believe) and a steak quesadilla will set you back about $9. We had multiple drinks, tacos, a quesadilla, and two desserts and spent less than $100 (incl. tip). Very happy with the dining experience.

Restaurant has a nice open feel, vibrant and busy. It was well-attended on a Tues. night. Staff was helpful. Bar serves fun drinks but compared to cocktails available nearby they are $2-$4 more than average. Tacos range from 4.50-6.50 a piece. Al Carbon was excellent, the cochinita pibil was oddly sedate, the fish was excellently cooked but needed some stronger flavors. Tacos come a la carte - no sides. Lots of ceviche, and fun chocolate crickets. You can have the same meal, but without the "scene", at nearby Tinga for about $15.00 less per person, and at the end of the day, unless you're going for the scene, it makes Petty Cash priced too high. It's trying to be a middle-ground restaurant, but the portion/price ratio is not right yet.

The cocktail list is as unique as the menu. If you are into craft cocktails, the Brixton is for you. It's Gin, poblano sorbet, habanero, fresh lime, flaming green Chartreuse...its strong and spicy and flaming...what more could one ask for?! From brussel sprouts to ceviche, this place has everything a foodie wants. The atmosphere is energetic and the staff is knowledgeable and attentive, which are both hard to find in LA, especially a hot spot like this one. It's great for large groups as they have some large tables.
