I have been to Petterino's many times. The dinner menu is excellent and we all enjoyed selections from the Prix Fixe menu that includes more than the food a restaurant wants to get rid of. I ordered the horseradish whitefish that was flavorful and not overwhelming. The othes in my party also ate every bite of their Chicken Schnitzel and salmon. The tiramisu needed more coffee and was slightly bland. We had to ask the waiter for bread which is a big faux pas for me, so the gratuity was only 15%.

Petterino's is our go-to choice for pre-theatre dinner. Tonight our server was prompt, personable and treated us as valued guests. I feel very welcome by the staff. I love the pre-theatre 3 course dinner option and the short and intimidating wine list which has several outstanding values.

Petterino's was an excellent choice for celebrating a special occasion. We reserved a table well in advance and were seated within 5 minutes of arrival. All of the good was very good. Our daughter decided to attend college in Chicago, so whenever we are in town from Pittsburgh, we make sure we eat dinner at Petterino's. The food is always top notch and the restaurant, with walls covered with caricatures of famous people, is a fun place to eat. Service is really good, too, with many friendly people constantly rotating through to bring your food, top off you water glass and clear away dishes. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

A pre-Theater Saturday lunch disclosed that Petterino's is resting on its laurels and relying on its great Theater District location rather than constantly updating its menu. Question: if Petterinoi's were located in Lakeview would it keep pushing out off the same menu year-after-year or would it be challenged to renew itself from time-to-time? This doesn't mean that the food is not good, or the service ok, but that things have gotten...well, old.

Petterinos not only has a great food and service but it is a Chicago staple. From the pictures on the wall to its location it makes you feel "at home Chicago". Food is wonderful and the menu has much to choose from. Great when you are going to the theatre because of location and parking.

Petterino's is a perfect place to go to before or after Goodman Theater. Usually, it is a very pleasant experience but the last two times, with the same waiter, the service was bad. Because we are two women who like to share a meal he paid very little attention to our needs. We waited almost 10 minutes for him to take our payment and when I called him over asking him to please take it I need to catch a train he said "Have a nice train ride" and took his time with the slips to sign. This treatment is very unlike the staandards of Lettuce Entertain You. Please pass the on to restaurant.

I go to Petterino's every time I have an event in the Loop, especially theatre. They are truly a restaurant for theatre patrons, with pre-theatre prix-fixe, theatre listings and start times in the menu, and quick but never rushed service to get you out the door in time for curtain. You need reservations! Note that on Thur-Sat you should book a few weeks ahead of time, as many theatre patrons feel the same way I do! Prices are reasonable, food is good. Also, they are a Lettuce restaurant, so you can rack up frequent diner points and use certificates there.

Our food was very tasty and they split the plate with no problem at all. We had the Chicken Schnitzel- it was very tender and moist with a beautiful presentation! The wait staff seemed a bit frantic and dismissive of the clientele, probably due to the diners who were attending the play next door within the next 30 minutes. We would definitely come back, but perhaps at a different time! The caricatures on the wall created an ambiance similar to Sardi's in New York.

I think this restaurant has let their evening menu get unimaginative and not very broad, since it often is fully booked being right next to the Goodman. The brunch they offer is much more sprightly. The food quality is very satisfactory, and the service is quite good. However, the dinner offerings from sides to entrees and salads seem either very basic or not unexpected. This was disappointing considering their attractive brunches.

I've been here many times and never had a bad experience until this past Saturday. We were seated immediately behind the host; however our server did not show up until about 25 minutes later to take our beverage order … seems he has his Saturday "regular" tables that he attends to and everyone else is just there … food was excellent (as always) … highly recommend the gnocchi. I'll definitely come back but if they put me with the same server, I'm moving!

This was probably the worst meal I've had in a long time. I ordered a steak but forgot to ask about the sauce (my fault). When I took it off the steak was still not good. The waiter knew I did not eat any of it and did not ask if I wanted something else. That was surprising for a high end restaurant that I've been frequenting for a long time. I asked to take the food home for my dog.The waiter was well aware that the whole meal was left and said he'd tell the manager who never came to the table. He offered me a dessert but not the chocolate ice cream. That was saved for a different dessert. I think I was more surprised at the service than the food.I guess because of the proximity to the Goodman theater they don't have to please the customer.

Menu needs some revitalization. Have been here three times in past two years and will give it a rest for awhile. Had the shrimp diablo this time and sauce tasted like tomato paste with tabasco in it. Husbands entree Whitefish and coleslaw period - lacked presentation. Appetizer of grilled calamari had way too much giardinara on it, masking the flavor of the calamari. Place feels tired. If it didnt have the theaters not sure it would be busy.
