Petrossian - New Yorka culinary institutionDelicious caviar, blinis, a vodka menu...and great value on pre-fixe!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGracious Dining in the Big AppleThis is a wonderful restaurant closely located near Carnegie Hall, and a short distance from Broadway. We took advantage of the prix fixe dinner which at $42 was a steal. We were celebrating a friend's birthday so we did inbibe of champagne and caviar which added to the bill, but was totally worthwhile. The staff were most attentive. The food was great - we had steak, smoked salmon, fish etc. The portions were generous. The restaurant was very attractive and welcoming. This is a great place.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMClass actI love this restaurant. The food is excellent with ample choices. The service is top notch. The atmosphere is a blast from the classy past. Food (I had scalloops) was xceptional4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA Special Find! This is the second time we have dined here. Both times were before a concert at Carnegie Hall and of course, this restaurant is only a block away so there is no rush to complete a meal. We especially like the prix fixe option which is a bargain in my mind. You can't beat $42 for a three course meal especially in NYC! We both ordered the sea bass which was cooked medium so it was perfect and not dry and overdone. The peach tart which of course is from their bakery was buttery and flaky with a delcious filling. The bakery merits a visit. After dining we stopped in and purchased several shortbread cookies to be enjoyed later!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSome review was not favorSome review was not favor for Petrossian, but we found again this restaurant is excellent3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch was delicious, especiallyLunch was delicious, especially the smoked salmon tasting plate. Will return often.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMPre-theater dinner outstandingPre-theater dinner outstanding (sturgeon superb). Excellent wine list. Fast service got us to Carnegie Hall in advance of 7:30 curtain.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWatch the champagne overpouring!Ambience and food were very good. The $42 3 course prixe fixe good all night menu with a few supplemental cost additions for caviar inclusion makes the restaurant more reasonable for those without limitless cash means. The intl champagne list is a little pricey. The only downside to the evening was the waiter constantly trying to empty the bottle and pour the champagne to the top of the glasses every few minutes. The overpouring service a little crude as well as not doing justice to the champagne by keeping it nice and chilled in the ice bucket. Since it was a special occasion we had one of the least costly intl champagnes for $115.00 Next time we will have a domestic bottle priced $60 to $70.00 ranges. We will definitely return!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMIt is worth the money. ItIt is worth the money. It is the best meal I have ever had. It is an unique chance to sample foods might one not otherwise--especially if you are into delicacies like pate and caviar. It is definitely old world Eastern European. If you like martinis, have one with dinner. What I like is that they featured a special tea and gin martini--I am not into vodka--and it is difficult to find a drink made with gin from the beginning--without having to ask to substitute the vodka for gin.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMy 2nd time there and planMy 2nd time there and plan to come back. A classic gem!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent - As Always!Great small restaurant. Always quiet, so you can actually have a pleasant conversation during your meal. Of course, the caviar is the standout (the sampler of 3 types works well to share at the table). The wine was excellent and the entrees perfect. Waiters are attentive, but not overbearing. A great restaurant ---- always try to get there when I am in NYC.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for lunch - it was aWent for lunch - it was a wonderful experience - food, service and ambiance were superb!
