We have eaten here before and not been disappointed but this last experience was very, very disappointing. The sole is fantastic which my husband had but shame on the chef for serving a thin, a little over 1/4 inch, grisly and impossible to chew New York steak

Conveniently located close to Central Park, this gem of a restaurant is a must visit if you are in the mood for caviar. The staff was extremely attentive and helpful in our selection of the briny treat. The full caviar service was excellent, made even better by the ice-chilled Russian vodka recommended by our server. Our diver scallops were enhanced by the addition of flavorful morel mushrooms, a wild treat I haven't enjoyed since my Midwestern childhood. The bartender, noticing our admiration of the decor, was proud to share the history of the stunning Erte mirrors backing the well-stocked bar. Be prepared to pay for the treat, but it is worth every penny!

I returned here after my first visit 25 years ago with the fond impression it made on me then. Though the opulence may have dimmed a bit, I enjoyed this visit as much as the last. Excellent service on the finest china, silver, and crystal complemented the delicious delicacies Petrossian is famous for. Imported Caviars and smoked fishes all washed down with icy cold Russian vodka added to the overall experience. The three course Prix Fixe brunch was far above the usual Sunday fare, plentiful and well priced at $38 per person, with caviar added at a reasonable upcharge. Overall, it was well worth the money and the old and young among us enjoyed it equally. Be careful though, fueled by many vodka shots for themselves and other tables plus numerous tins of the finest caviars and slabs of the best smoked salmon and blinis, the party of three next to us ran up a bill in excess of $3000! Nice to be around the beautiful people.

Went for caviar and foie gras expected a little more of a vibrant atmosphere on a Saturday night. Service was a little stuffy and not friendly at all. Very old-school and not in a good way. Next time I'll look for my caviar and foie gras somewhere else

The restaurant is dated and in desperate need of an upgrade. The food was okay but the service was terrible. Bread was forgotten and glasses remained unfilled. We told the manager who was present but clearly was not providing oversight to the staff.

we have been to this restaurant many times and its always very good, at least 4 star food.. Friday we went again and ordered Dover Sole with Cavier, smoked salmon seared Fois Gras, and Steak Tartare. The restaurant is known for its delicacies These four dishes were each the best rendition of these my wife and I have ever had

Stunning to see the grade pending sign on the door, and we all wondered why? The lobster roll for lunch with asparagus soup was pleasant but missing lobster, only a few pieces with a lot of filler for $24. The salmon sampler was not generous, a few pieces with a lump of red caviar, but friends said it was tasty. The service was surprisingly poor with so few diners in the restaurant. No one ever came to refill our water glasses. Prices are high considering portion size and service. The place feels dated and touristy.

The food at Petrossian was mediocre, not what I expected, such as the caviar being served with so called toast points that would have been better suited for a club sandwich but not to be served with caviar. The dover sole was also not very good. Very disappointing. Never again.

I have been a fan of Petrossian over many years. It was disappointing to find the staff now is much less polished, tho still attentive and friendly, and the entire restaurant empty when we arrived. It was a little awkward, and the poor choice of pop tunes playing loudly was completely incongruent. I regret to say that was probably my last visit.

The Brunch at Petrossian is great value for money! A three course gourmet meal at $38 is hard to find. Food was excellent, creative and tasty. Place it self is a bit cold, not too many customers. Perhaps an August Sunday was the wrong time. Regardless, do your self a favor and try it!

There is an almost courtly feel to the service and ambiance at Petrossian -- sort of from another era, and most welcome. The servers are quiet, professional, and efficient (none of the "Hi, my name is Scott and I'll be your server tonight!" stuff). The food is wonderful, and while Petrossian's menu is a bit old-fashioned, it can't be beat for smoked fish and caviar. The Lalique glass and beautiful granite, not to mention the diagonal bar, all contribute to a great dining experience.

We found them to be very inflexible for a high end restaurant. They refused requests for minor changes to menu items. When told my wife did not like her dinner, they were indifferent. Our friend was allergic to nuts. It was a garnish and retrospectively it appeared nuts were added just prior to serving. Consequently she settled for the ice cream. Restaurant week or not, we will not be going back.

I always wanted to go to the restaurant in this NYC landmark. From the outside it looks like a real classy restaurant but the food and service significantly underdelivers. The preparation lags inspiration and the flavors are very poorly matched. The mackerel was over slated and the fishy taste was overbearing. Overall a big disappointment and especially in NYC don’t waste your time and money there since there is an abundance of excellent restaurant.

I had lunch here during restaurant week. To begin with, the hostess was busy chatting with two other guests who were leaving and did not even acknowledge me. Another lady walked in and the hostess was about to see to her when the lady kindly pointed out that I had been waiting there first so I was finally seen to and shown to my table. (Perhaps as I'm Asian, she did not think it worth her while to attend to me.) My husband and I both had the smoked salmon as a starter, I had the duck for my main and my husband had the steak. The smoked salmon was ordinary, the duck was dry and the steak so so. For dessert, I had the carrot cheesecake which was the only good dish. Waiting staff were very brusque and not courteous. Conclusion: Avoid
