Petits Platsexcellent first time experienceHad the sea food risotto. Simply excellent. One of the best risotto's I have experienced. Everything was cooked perfectly. Good portion. Wife had vegetable lasagna. Caesar salad was excellent. Plenty of garlic and anchovies - wahoo! For desert had crepes with grand marine. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Excellent meal.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExtraordinary Veal Hanger Steak!!I never had a veal hanger steak until this visit to PP! It was extraordinary, served with a special fresh morel mushroom cream sauce. I was so impressed--and my colleague decided to have the same thing--and was speechless.
PP is always a solid place for dinner, made even better by the outstanding service of Jeff and Max.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother excellent experience at PPWhenever we go to Washington DC we catch the opportunity to dine at Petit Plats... And we are NEVER disappointed; Extraordinary food, good wine list, excellent service and relaxing atmosphere.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat French BistroDecided to head out for dinner instead of dining at the Marriott. Great find. As previously stated the Mussels were amazing and some great bread to dip in the sauce. The seafood risotto was fantastic as was the trout. All in all a great place with great wine.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial surpriseFirst impression was average. The staff was excellent and the menu selection had a good variety. Great food, very helpful staff with a flair for French food.
I would recommend this, especially for those staying at the Marriott Wardman. A great escape from hotel food!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPlump mussels and perfect fritesIt was a cool, drizzly Thursday evening and we were reminiscing about mussels enjoyed in Bruges. We entered the door of Petits Plats and what did we see? Big steaming bowls of mussels and golden crisp frites! And they tasted as good as they looked! Heaven. Good wine selections to compliment their menu, as well.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA little bit of FranceThis neighborhood gem in Adams Morgan (close to the zoo) is a little bit of France. It is a bistro style restaurant that serves excellent food in the simple French bistro style. They do have outdoor seating, though we did not do this on either visit. It was a little chilly for our taste. The downstairs is quiet. But the upstairs would be a great place for a large group to have a fun time. The two times we were there, the upstairs was lively. They have a standard menu and daily (maybe weekly) specials. If the seafood combination over mushroom risotto is available--be sure to try it. It was heavenly. We all ordered different things each time and found everything delicious--obviously fresh ingredients prepared to perfection!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of our favorite restaurantsOne of our favorite restaurants in DC. The food is always delicious and of high quality. The servers are very friendly and attentive. We always feel welcomed back as if we are family.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a nice experienceConsistently very good. Had a nice lunch there on a warm Spring day. Several people were sitting outside (small area of tables on Connecticut Ave sidewalk, also a couple outside tables up a level). But we sat inside next to window - nice, airy, and bright. We couldn't have asked for more gracious and knowledgeable service. Great split pea soup and seafood salad - nicely cooked seafood. Friend had huge pile of mussels accompanied by good fries. All very delightful! will definitely continue to return.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Meal!Had a lovely meal here. The place is small and rather cramped, but has a nice atmosphere. For appetizers, we ordered escargot and beet salad. The escargot was great and the beet salad was also good but a bit on the scimpy side (they need to provide more). For entrees, we had the short ribs and the wild rockfish - both were great. The dessert (apple tart) was yummy. Also, we really appreciated the fact that wines by the glass were quite generous. Definitely will return!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were visiting WashingtonWe were visiting Washington DC on a family vacation and stayed across the street at the Marriott Wardman. We really enjoyed a Friday night dinner at Petits Plats - the food was excellent - so was the wine and a very reasonably priced wine list too. The setting is quaint and cozy. We enjoyed it so much we returned on Easter Sunday for our brunch which was incredible. $3 mimosas & the very best Eggs Benedict I've ever had. We will want to return during out next stay at the Wardman.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food here is delicious,The food here is delicious, and the service is attentive. Only downside is that they participate in LivingSocial/Groupon deals, but can't honor the voucher past the expiration date for the paid value (which is supposedly guaranteed) because they don't have the proper scanning equipment. Regardless, I'd go back.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMReliable and EnjoyableBeen to Petits Plats many times over the years. The food and atmosphere are are consistently excellent. The hosts were warm and welcoming as always. In general, the service is also excellent with servers who are professional and also personable. On this occasion, the 2 male servers were rather lackluster - nothing went wrong, but they added nothing to the experience. I'll go back, though. I always enjoy the experience.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMBeef bourguignon melts in mouth!Beef bourguignon melts in your mouth. Every time we go to DC we must have a meal there or even two. Our last visit was on New Year's Eve and we really thought we were in France! The food was perfection the service was too and we enjoyed the homey atmosphere, it felt like we were in our good friends living room. You know it is authentic when everyone around you is speaking French.
