I always wanted to go to Petite Maison. This last Saturday I went here during Arizona Restaurant Week. My girlfriend and I chose different menu items from the menu and we liked them both. We also tried the wine pairing and the combination was just delicious. Will come back.

We have know Chef James for many years. We have never had a bad meal, but Chef seems to have brought a new life to his food. We came with our daughter and son-in-law for the restaurant week menu but when we saw the new menu we could not help but go to it. The duck was out of this world and unlikely as it seems 3 of us ordered the burger. once we started eating them we could not stop. Price point vs food quality vs service Petite Maison is in a league of it's own

cheese platter had the tiniest bits of cheese I have ever seen and not a great selection. The "pate" was more like a ham loaf and the five almond and few slices of salami didn't warrant $18. Bread sticks horrible. Poutine was cold. I have lived in Europe and love French cuisine. That wasn't anything near. Waste of money.

Price was reasonable for French-cuisine . $200 for 5 people, with tips, drink, tax everything. No chicken dish, no lamb the signature item for brunch. Extremely limited menu. Gazpacho was no good at all. Service friendly, and nice. Foie Gras was very good, sauce and grilled peach with foie gras was perfect. Sauce with salmon was perfect French toast was good. We will try dinner sometimes but given the experience it will be long time.

Perfectly crunchy fried frog legs - sadly, with zero flavor. Broth for mussels, the same. Bland, bland, bland. Duck was over cooked over chef's recommendation but very tasty nonetheless. The highlight was the lamb neck. Outstanding!! And service was friendly and helpful. Great wine recommendations to pair with overall very nice food. Will try again for sure.

The food and the presentations were fantastic. From the escargot to the lamb chops everything was delicous and presented in an elegant and neat manner. However due to the small size of the restaraunt, we found it to be rather noisy and difficult to communicate. There was plenty outside seating but we were not offered however, I highly wished we would have asked. Other than that the experience was divine.

Food portions where light and overly creative. Service was very attentive but the two of us where the only patrons in the restaurant at the time. Overall, nice but a bit over priced. For two people having a modest meal with water as a beverage shouldn't be fifty dollars a person.

I have been to Petite Maison 4 or 5 times, I think, and I always appreciate that it feels like a real neighborhood restaurant. With so many other restaurant choices in the Scottsdale area, I keep coming here because it doesn't feel pretentious or touristy. The service has the right tone--it's friendly and attentive without being smothering. The food is beautifully presented and well prepared. We had several seafood dishes--mussels, salmon, bouillabaisse--which is a strong suit here. The chocolate souffle came with a big sparkler in it for my Dad's birthday and when they poured the sauce in it, they cut the souffle in a heart shape. Little touches make a big difference, so hats off to them!

Petite Maison is our go to restaurant for both celebrations as well as quiet dinners for two. We had heard that the menu had changed, and not for the better according to the the reviewer. We thought we would give it a try despite the poor reception of the new menu. First off, we were not happy with the escargot. The previous recipe had more buttery, garlicy, goodness, so good we would discreetly mop it up with the bread. The lamb dish was very good, but my husband was disappointed that the flat iron steak no longer came with french fried potatoes. The chocolate/peanut butter souffle was just ok, we much preferred the one on the previous menu. The wait staff was wonderful as always.

We were invited by the Chef to have dinner and watch the fireworks next door. We arrived early and were not only surprised that our seat was inside and not outside, but also at seated at the bar where we remained for over an hour after being told our seat would be ready shortly. We ate our salad at the bar and waited while the staff kept asking if we wanted some more to drink. By the time we got the main course - a hot dog on a bun, the place was nearly vacant. The problem was that all guests apparently were told that they could stay for fireworks even though they arrived as early as 6pm and did not leave. BTW, we went outside to the parking lot to see the fireworks. They lasted less than 10 minutes. The evening was a disappointment.

We chose La Petite Maison for our 25th wedding anniversary; the food was outstanding (everything from Fanny Bay oysters to foie gras), and the happy hour prices for drinks and hors d'oeuvres were particularly reasonable. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and fun while keeping everything running smoothly. The wine list manages to be serious in terms of quality and range, without relying too heavily on common choices. A few Loire Valley light reds wouldn't be amiss, though. The entrées were exceptional in terms of composition and ingredients -- the duck was rosy, the scallops were tender and well-seared. We'll be back.

Service awkward. Saw the bartender and hostess more than the waiter. Sat two feet from bar, waited for every drink reorder, even had to remind waiter what I ordered. It wasn't so busy that it should have been that slow. Food: appetizers, microscopic Foie Gras for $18 on half toasted bread disk, served with kettle corn(?) sweet chewy stick in your teeth. The foie gras itself was delicious but size left me wanting. Soft shell crab was cooked nicely but the accompaniments could have had more flavor. Entrees: scallops, little salty, on polenta, not well seasoned, with peas and corn compote/sauce. Just ok. Lamb cooked nicely, on bed of "grape hash" wife liked it, me again, not memorable. Don't mind spending $200 on dinner, just expect more.

Frantic is how I describe the service. Everyone around us, including our server, the water person, the bar tender/manager(seemed like he was the manager because he continually barked orders to everyone) acted in a hurried, frantic manner. The only ones not in a hurry were us! While we didn't seemed rushed to eat and get out, the overall atmosphere treated us as if we were unhappy, but we weren't. My wife returned a dish because it was over seasoned, and the chef provided her with a complimentary appetizer(duck) that was outstanding. The only negative was our server, who had no personality, and I wished he had told us that the souffle would take 20-25 minutes before we ordered it. Again, the chef came to the rescue by comping a dessert.

There are not many French Restaurants in the Phoenix area. Fortunately, this is the only one you need. It is small and romantic but do not go without a reservation. I suggest the outdoor seating is better than inside; because it is so small, inside is a little tight. Do not miss the Escargots and bone morrow. It is not to be believed; however, it was a hard choice between that and the soft shell crab, since they are not in season for very long. My wife went with the soft shell crab and was not disappointed. For the main course, the lamb tenderloin was outstanding; however, since they serve fresh seasonal ingredients you may have to settle for different dishes. We have been here often and have never been disappointed.

We waited a long time for the server to greet us, and that was only after we flagged him down. (It wasn't very busy, either.) The food and wine pairing was very good. However, at $145 a couple with tax and tip (during Restaurant Week, no less, without special add-ons), I think it is overpriced by about 30%. The outside dining area was beautiful; but we sat inside, which was surprisingly cramped and lacked ambience.
