Petite JacquelineGreat Brunch! We were one of the first tables but the waiter was super helpful with explanations and recommendations - really felt well taken care of!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA Gem of a local French BistroPetite Jacqueline transports you to a neighborhood bistro in Paris or a lovely French village. The food is superb. Do try the Chicken.... yes, we know - who orders chicken in a restaurant??? well, do try it here - it is most, full of flavour, melts in your mouth.... The prok chop is wonderful, and the fish.... ahhhh... last night we had local red fish, perfectly prepared....
We make a trip all the way from Portsmouth NH to eat here about once a month....5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceMy wife and I were trying to decide where to go to dinner when we stumbled upon Petite Jacqueline; We had heard about the James Beard award nomination and decided to book a table to see for ourselves what the buzz was about. We were warmly greeted upon entering by Michael and were quickly seated. The menu, wine list, and cocktails were all very well put together and showed depth. We had a bottle of the Chanteleuserie Cab Franc and Ashley had the olives into the Red Snapper special and I had the Moelle into the Pork Chop. I have to say that we were both truly floored by how well the food was prepared - perfectly cooked, seasoned, and absolutely delicious. Outstanding Food & Service Thank You for a memorable meal and we will see you soon.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA Gem!I invited friends for lunch at Petit Jacqueline and they were very impressed. Every aspect of the experience was great. Lovely place with friendly staff and interesting menu. My husband and I go there frequently for dinner and always have been very pleased. Highly recommend!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMDog Friendly if you eat outsideWe love the food and the ability to have a nice lunch outside with our dog Tess. Homemade pea soup was great as well as the array of cheeses. Also staff was knowledgeable about gluten allergies and made my wife feel comfortable that they were making sure she had a gluten free meal.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulThe food is terrific for real country French cuisine. Everything was perfectly cooked and the service was terrific. No long waits for any course. The only problem is that tables are stacked on top of one another so conversations can be heard and that is a little uncomfortable.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA little souvenir of ParisThis was our second visit. Both times we had dinner, and each experience was outstanding in every way. The bouef bourguignon alone is worth the hour & 1/2 drive each way for us. After our first visit, we recommended PJ to friends who spend weeks in France every year. They were very pleasantly surprised with their lunch and said the would like to go back again for dinner.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMCharming French Bistro!Took a chance and booked this last minute through Open Table as I had read some good reviews on Petite Jacqueline before. We were not disappointed. Our server, Chloe, was the perfect waitress! She asked up front if we had symphony tickets (which we did), she was helpful with recommendations that were spot on, the food was delicious. She was attentive and genuinely caring. I would go back and request her for a server any day! Our only disappointment was that we didn't have enough time before the symphony to try their desserts but we will be back!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good restaurant, foodVery good restaurant, food was excellent, service was excellent. Definitely will recommend to others.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMCorner of Congress & St. GermainOne of my absolute favorite spots in Portland. Great bistro atmosphere and faithful French cuisine. Oysters, salads, steak-frites and risotto were amazing. Highly recommended for a snappy casual romantic evening.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMNothing Petite here, a real gem!Fabulous spot in Portland's Art District. Excellent preparation! Thoroughly enjoyed my culinary experience. Seating is a bit illogical - a bit awkward at times, I felt like I was sitting with the couple next to us, but the food and attentive service make up for this minor imperfection.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA Sunny Monday dinnerWe really enjoyed the "French Bistro" food and atmosphere at Petite Jacqueline. We had difficulty choosing our dinner items as so much on the menu sounded interesting. Prix Fixe was superb as was the fish of the day!!! We chose well but there would have been other things we'd have enjoyed as well. Great little spot. We'd go back!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best in Portland...fineThe best in Portland...fine balance of everything just right!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAn outstanding dining experienceMy party of 4 had an outstanding meal here. Foie Gras, cheese plate, terrine, pork chop, you name it. All outstanding.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were visiting from outWe were visiting from out of town, and Petite Jacqueline was recommended by a local Portland friend. It was excellent - great food starting with the fresh warm baguette, a nice wine list, and a warm lively ambiance. We'll definitely be going again when we're in Portland next.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat eveningVery enjoyable evening at Petite Jacqueline during a recent weekend trip to Portland. My duck served with lentils and greens was delicious. My husband had the onion soup and Boeuf Bourguignon which he enjoyed very much. I began with the Monet's Muse cocktail which was light and refreshing. We also had the house red wine which was good value. The service was attentive and the waiter pleasant and cheerful. The noise level was fine- maybe Maine diners have less loud voices than other American diners we have experienced. We will return here next time we are in Portland.
My only slight quibble was that the waiter didn't pronounce the French names of the dishes quite correctly but that is very minor and easily sorted.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely wonderful mealAbsolutely wonderful meal - felt just like being back in Paris!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time atThis was our first time at Petite Jacqueline, but it won't be our last. From the time we were welcomed by our lovely hostess, Sara, to our attentive server, Rebecca, our dining experience was outstanding. We started with the cheese fondue appetizer, which was delicious. The salads we had prior to our entrees were also quite excellent. For entrees, we enjoyed the steak frites, pork chops, and fish. All were prepared perfectly. Plan to save room for dessert. We had the creme brulee and chocolate pear. Scrumptious!
If you're looking for a special place to dine in Portland with outstanding food and service, head straight to Petite Jacqueline.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLove love love! We were thereLove love love! We were there for my wife's birthday. Matt, our server, was amazing. I could not have asked for a better evening out.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappointsThis was our third time here and as always, the food was excellent! The service was also very nice and friendly. Great drinks, great food. The place is a bit noisy, but that's really my only complaint. Highly recommend it for lunch or for dinner.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMmay not be located on themay not be located on the west bank of the Seine or in the old city in Quebec, but as good a french cafe vibe as you are likely to find in a city where French is not the native language. How many restaurants have a roasted bone marrow on the list of appetizers?3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent mealWe had a great meal at Petite Jacqueline. Everything we ate was delicious. Service was friendly, but a bit informal. Our only complaint was that the chairs are bit uncomfortable, and should be upgraded. But we'll definitely be back!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMTaking a bite of my gnocchi,Taking a bite of my gnocchi, I was immediately impressed as well. Never before, (including when I was abroad in Italy) have I ever seen gnocchi that was so large! Size, in this case, didn't matter, since each piece ended up being more flavorful than the last. Nothing overpowering, just simple food and large! Size, in this case, didn't matter, since each piece ended up being more flavorful than the last. Nothing overpowering, just simple food and large taste. A perfect entree for the evening.
The cremé de la cremé of the evening, ironically, was the Chocolate Pot de Cremé, a perfect blend of rich and creamy, with a touch of sweet and salty from the small pinch of sea salt. It was, in a word, lovely.3/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA definite go toWe were booked at another restaurant that had us waiting an hour and a half and would have been cramped elbow with other people.
We went to Petite Jacquline we got seated right away in the most wonderful bright and pleasant atmosphere. And the food was fabulous! This will be our pick for the future.1/6/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly recommend Petite JacquelineThis was our 2nd time at Petite Jacqueline and was once again a wonderful experience. Service is amoungst the best (and most fun) in the city and the food (escargot, charcuterie plate, deviled eggs, foie gras, filet of sole, etc.) was fantastic. And it truly feels like you are truly transported to Paris for your meal. I highly recommend coming here.1/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
