  • "Saturday Night and friends were in town. As usual PRC was my go to downtown place. Food is always excellent simple fare. Service is always just right. Everyone was happy and that is key.."

  • "We went here for an admin lunch with 4 people. Food options were good--the Croque Monsieur was delicious with two types of cheese. We also tried the Eiffel Tower dessert that was more like tiramisu. A pretty nice lunch, but definitely a little bit more on the energetic side of noise, so it was hard to have a group chat. Presentation was awesome--the Eiffel Tower was amazingly prepared and presented beautifully. This place has the edge when it comes to cheese variety and definitely delivers if you want a French Bistro flavor at lunch. You can even order brunch items on a regular day if you want."

  • "The atmosphere is beautiful, the food is fantastic and the GM Ricardo Sato is a super star! He's always very professional and personable."

  • "The location, look, atmosphere, staff were all great - but the menu was very French and thus limited. I took a potential client there for a business lunch - it was our fist meeting. We were both scratching our heads over what to order. I settled for a Ruben (great) and he settled for a 1/2 lb burger - the only 2 sandwiches within reasonable menu expectations. Impress a girl, super-fancy Execs maybe - but there are better classic/standard lunch places for a business lunch."

  • "food was not very good and service was just OK. Our waiter was aware we were going to the theater and took our order promptly but we had to flag him down to get coffee. We skipped dessert as we were concerned he wouldn't return in time for us to make curtain call. Too many good places to put up with this service and marginal food."

  • "Petit Robert provides a fair choice for a business lunch in the downtown crossing area. The service is decent, the space is generally quiet and provides a good environment for conversations, and the food is pretty good and fairly priced."

  • "Nice, satisfying brasserie-style menu, reasonable wine list, and a great room overlooking Downtown Crossing. Super-friendly staff and impeccable service (thanks, Yarick). Try the Porc Paillard and the Pistachio-crusted Salmon."

  • "Went for my b day. The food was fantastic, i had the duck and my boyfriend had the short rib. We shared the chartruterie app and that was great as well. Service was a little stuffy but attentive. Over all great dinner. I will go back when i have $140 to drop on dinner."

  • "We were a group of 5 going to the Ballet during the week and were served promptly and pleasantly! Server was attuned to the needs of a group of picky women! Food was good, presented well. Nice touch with the celery root puree! A little too salty for several of our tastes. French press coffee was a treat! Pricing was excellent! Will go back again!"

  • "Tried this place for a business lunch. The room is warm and friendly, and the service attentive. The noise level is a bit loud and the music is also. The food was very good, I had the bisque and the "Croque Monsieur" which was not really made correctly as it is supposed to have béchamel sauce on it. It was still good, but really just a very good grilled cheese. Would go back again without hesitation. One of the better choices in downtown."

  • "Really had high hopes for this restaurant. Convenient for pre-ballet dinner at Opera House - walking distance from Layfayette garage. Very nice service. Food was average at best. My Boeuf Bourguignon was very salty and surprisingly tough. Pinot Gris by the glass was lovely. They have a children's menu which is convenient, but my daughter's chicken fingers were dry, surprising. I am wondering if they use heat lamps which would explain the dryness? Child's chocolate mousse tasted a bit like pudding, but did have real whipped cream. Ambivalent about this place, enjoyed the service & ambiance, may return simply for convenience prior to ballet - but order something different."

  • "My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed a delicious dinner at Petit Robert! it was his birthday and the service was outstanding! We were given a lovely window table - service extremely pleasant and professional. To our surprise, we were treated to a glass of champagne and a yummy plate of macaroons - in honor of his birthday! Many thanks!"

  • "We like to go here before we go to ballet at the opera house. The food is very good, and the service outstanding. The view is also nice because it is one story up from the street, and manages to seem like it is in a park when it is actually on summer street. The bar also looks nice, but i have not tried it yet."

  • "I really want to like Petit Robert, but at every one of its incarnations, the service is terrible. This waiter had no sense of timing at our table, was brusque, and rushed us out the door even though the restaurant had plenty of open tables."

  • "I enjoyed the visit. I ordered an appetizer but it should have been for two, I still ate it all and that meant I couldn't finish my main course. My wife's fish course was not overly pleasing, but I don't think it was bad, just not something she liked. Overall I would go back and make better choices."

  • "The restaurant was nice, spacious, modern, clean. The ambience and lighting was nice for a date. The staff was friendly, polite, and attentive. It isn't easy to find escargot but they had it on the appetizer menu. The entrees were good."

  • "I always loved to eat lunch at the old Dakota restaurant. Petiti Robert Central was delightful. My friend had mussels and I enjoyed the omlette, not overdone! It is a great place to duck into for lunch in downtown Boston. I will be back soon."

  • "For Hors D'oeuvres if you love mussels I highly recommend the Pernod Mussels. It was delicious with roasted fennel. The Tuna Tartar was also wonderful and beautifully presented. The Coquelle St. Jacques, scallops in a gruyere sauce was very good, but remember French food is very rich and this dish is definitely French. The service was great, the wine list extensive. The atmosphere is upscale but prices are not over the top. We really enjoyed this place and would definitely go again."

  • "Went for Valentine's Day with a group of girlfriends, with high hopes that Petite Robert would deliver an easy, fun and enjoyable evening. At every turn, the service just seemed off. It was busy, but not packed, and after waiting a while to even put drink orders in, it was close to 30 minutes before our first "cheers" occurred. The main courses arrived while appetizers were still on the table-timing totally off! Braised short ribs were SALTY, scallops were buried under cheese. And at the end of our meal, when roses were being handed out to all the tables as they left (nice touch in theory), the waiter brought 1 rose to ours..."sorry, they only allotted 1 rose per table." So of the 6 of us, 1 of us got a rose. So silly!"

  • "The decor brought romantic and rustic together! All service staff was friendly and attentive. The wine selection was indeed fabulous. We started off with the mussels that was prepared in an excellent tomato broth with sausage and potatoes. The lemon sole and lobster mac and cheese were seasoned just right and to top things off, we had this amazing orange zest crepe that was exceptional! On this Valentine's, I was treated like a queen. Our waiter even gave me a long stem red rose! This was a great hidden gem!"

  • "My s.o. and I went to Petit Robert Central for a semi-casual but romantic Valentine's Day dinner. We opted for the 3-course prix-fixe menu of the night and we were blown away at the decadence of the meal. Everything was very rich and flavorful, and expertly portioned. There was also just the right amount of exotic french food mixed in with more approachable options; a perfect intro to french dining, at a price that didn't break the bank. The service was just okay, a little bit limited - perhaps because of the busy night - but our waitress was very helpful and cheery when she was at our table. The table was very nice as well; the bar area seemed a bit loud, but we were sat in a back dining area right next to a window."

  • "One on my favorite restaurants in Boston. The food is out of this world, and I love the French bistro feel. I have never had a bad experience here. One note: If you sit by the windows, you might need a sweater. It gets a little chilly."

  • "took a little too long to have server come to us. There were about 5 wait staff standing around sections that had no people. They need an operations person that can help them figure out how to not have people standing around while customers wait for the few that are busy."

  • "This was our first time here. We were looking for something close to theaters. Very nice space, on second floor overlooking Summer Street. Nice bistro fare. Steak frites were generous portions, done as requested, nice Roquefort butter on top, fries good and crunchy, extraneous sauce on the side. Service was friendly and efficient, with lots of helping hands. Charcuterie was delish: 3 different pates, one thin slice of jambon, fig jam, and pickled cauliflower, but no other cured meats or sausages. Sorbets (3) were generous and yummy (lemon, cassis, peach). Would definitely go back and would recommend to friends. Note that there is no connection to the old Maison Robert except that the owner had worked there."

  • "We arrived 1/2 hour early for our reservations and decided to sit at he bar for a drink before dinner; which did not appear to be that busy. We waited at least 10 -12 minutes before the bartender even acknowledged us as he appeared to be mixing drinks for the parties of a presidential election. He finally came over and gave us drink menus, though I knew what I wanted, my wife wanted a wine list - this took another 5 minutes. We finally left the bar to be seated. Fortunately the rest of the evening was fabulous. Stuffed clams app. was wonderful, wife had the flatbread which was fabulous. Skirt steak with fries entree was excellent, wife had the sole which was mediocre. Waiter and drinks were delightful, price was reasonable - will be back."

  • "We chose this restaurant because we were going to the theatre. We had never been there before. When we arrived, we were taken to a small table for 2 at the back of the restaurant, next to the door into the kitchen. The restaurant is very large and there were only about 6 tables that were occupied. We asked to be moved and they brought us into the main dining room and gave us another small table next to a pillar. There were other couples being seated at larger tables. We were very disappointed and actually called another restaurant but they were full. So, we decided we had to stay. The food was actually good but the evening for was an overall disappointment. We will not be returning."

  • "Had a great time - food was great, staff allowed us to have a leisurely dinner Not overly friendly but not needed either - would definitely recommend especially before a show at the opera house - off the beaten path but a quick walk to the show"

  • "We had a reservation and we were seated pretty quickly. The bread was hot and the menu is a little lacking. The main entrees came to us quickly perfect for this situation. Food was great and the service was great. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves food especially French food."
