Petit Robert BistroReliable Place for Great FoodThis is one of our favorite places to go for a celebration, in this case Father's Day. The food is always just great. The special, "Bouche a la Reine," was outstanding. We were very pleased with everything!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst dateThe ambience of petit was excellent! The Resturant was an awesome find. The food, wait staff, and atmosphere was what I expected for a nice night out with a beautiful woman. A bit $$ but highly recommended...6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMc'est magnifiqueIt was my daughter's 25th birthday. The Escargot was perfection and my husband says you have ruined him for mussels anywhere else. The attention given us, and the special birthday dessert prepared just for her, guarantees our return. Thank you.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOn par with South EndPetit Robert in the South End is one of my favorite restaurants. I'm glad to finally have made it to the Kenmore Square location. Food, setting, service here were great. It's almost a toss-up as to which I like better.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousHad a great graduation dinner here for 8 people. They kept the wine flowing flowing and the food come. Everything we ordered was divine. I especially liked the salmon over risotto I ordered. The prb cake is not great, so perhaps avoid that. But everything else was wonderful. Coq au vin was incredible too.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love this place for itsWe love this place for its authentic French bistro feel and well-executed traditional favorites. Steak frites is a favorite and it's the place to get a great plate of liver and onions. We always feel well-taken care of.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBest French Restaurant in BostonThis is the best (affordable) French restaurant in Boston. My wife and I come here every time we visit Boston, and the food and service is always fantastic!!5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Kenmore square placeI'd choose Petit Robert anytime for a QUIET and well-served dinner in Kenmore square (the other restaurants are loud). The food is very French: erring on the high butter-fat, even in the broth in which the (enormous!) mussels were steamed. Meats (I had the rabbit) were excellent); wine-list of course is terrific and especially rich for by-the-glass; mousse wasn't so inspired, but there is are extensive dessert options. We had no problem getting a good table on a Sunday evening.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great dinnerPetit Robert has consistently good food and good service. It was absolutely packed with recent graduates, but the waitstaff seemed to be keeping up well.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice dining experience!Very nice dining experience! Went for lunch one day and dinner another. Food selection was fun and interesting. The service was outstanding. Really enjoyed a casual elegance feeling in the dining area. Food quality was very good and well prepared. Would definitely return.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Business Dinner LocationFood is great; prices are reasonable and it is quiet. My manager loves it for his business dinners because it is quiet and prices are modest.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food!We returned (again) to this wonderful branch of Petit Robert conveniently located in Needham. Despite it being a busy mother's day evening the food was cooked perfectly and was delicious as always. We'll be back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the food - loved theLoved the food - loved the restaurant. The service was very pleasant, friendly, and accommodating, which is always a plus. Will be back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food as alwaysHave been enjoying this little gem in kenmore square for quite some time - they do not compromise on qualty and taste - great place for a nice meal5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot for lunchMy date and I met for lunch. This was my first time at Petit Robert. We ate from the brunch menu. The eggs benedict were delightful. Service was friendly and efficient without being intrusive. We sat by the window and enjoyed the street scene outside. I look forward to dining there again.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMI love Petit Robert - justI love Petit Robert - just a simple place, warm decor, authentic familial French food and reasonable prices. Always a good choice.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful birthday dinner! When our birthday girl requested dinner at Petit Robert Bistro, we were more than happy to oblige! We'd been once before for lunch (during Restaurant Week), and the food was phenomenal. Dinner this time did not disappoint. We had a wide range of dishes (from several apps, to chalkboard specials, to various items of the new spring menu) and everything was terrific. The boeuf bourguignon was hands down the favorite dish (it was attacked by three different diners). Desserts were glorious (don’t miss the chocolate cake with the Eiffel tower!). Wine recommendations were spot-on. C’est magnifique!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA cozy, lovely spot with aA cozy, lovely spot with a nice French menu. Had a wonderful date, great delicious food, warm attentive friendly service.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMPetit Robert at Kenmore isPetit Robert at Kenmore is lovely and unpretentious little bistro with good French food and friendly/efficient service. A great place for a small celebration. The dishes are tasty traditional French country and the chocolate souffle is worth the preparation time. (Other deserts have been mediocre.)4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific. Best in the neighborhood.Terrific. Best in the neighborhood. Great creative kitchen.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent. HoweverFood was excellent. However the waiter was extremely pushy, and did not give us sufficient time to review the menu (we asked for a few minutes, he was back in less than one expecting us to be ready). The restaurant was less than half full, no idea why he felt the need to make us order so quickly. Will probably return.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSolid FrenchFrench cuisine has been associated with tiny portions of odd foods. Not here. This is solid, country style cooking. All the familiar staples can be found, and they are prepared solidly. With butter. If you are looking for culinary extravagance go somewhere else. If you want French food that tastes like you're in France, go here. Boef Bourguignon, Pâté, Coq au vin, onion soup, Coquilles St. Jacques, they all can be found here, and many more.
There are two rooms, the lower without windows. Tables are fairly close together. Most of the staff appear to be French, which adds to the feeling of eating out in France. Try it. You may find yourself wanting to come back.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorite placesOne of my favorite places to go. Never been disappointed.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPetit Robert is consistentlyPetit Robert is consistently wonderful! The food/menu is outstanding, ambiance very pleasant, and service staff extremely attentive without being obtrusive. This is one of the best French restaurants and continues the tradition of Maitre Jacques 45 years ago!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is consistently goodThe food is consistently good here and the service is terrific .....4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe short ribs bourguignonThe short ribs bourguignon had exceptional flavor, and the dish was served at the perfect temperature on a busy Saturday night. Our waiter and the maitre d' spoke french and provided excellent service. Space is a bit tight on a busy night, but that is part of the charm. Highly recommended.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe dining experience wasThe dining experience was wonderful! The atmosphere is charming and the food...oh, the food. The food is utterly divine! This is my very favorite spot for romantic special occasions, but the prices make it possible to eat there a lot more often!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA longtime favorite for thisA longtime favorite for this former resident of France. Jacky Robert is a warm, welcoming host. The food is delicious, the menu varied, the prices reasonable. Only the noise level is a bit difficult for me--one has to talk "under" it to have a conversation with one's dinner companion.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFriday Night FavoriteThis remains one of our favorite places in Boston. The service is attentive, and the atmosphere is cozy and charming. The menu includes wonderfully "un-PC" French favorites like calf liver and venison. The bread is fresh and hot and crusty. The pate's are delicious. The fresh vegetables served with the entrees are perfectly done and artistically presented -- arranged around a dollop of exquisite mashed potatoes. The desserts always look tempting, but I rarely have enough room. Too bad.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMVery pleasant evening. FroieVery pleasant evening. Froie gras to die for. How can something so good be so bad for you.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love to come here wheneverWe love to come here whenever we feel we deserve a treat. We brought a guest from Manhattan on Sunday and she liked it very much.
While the atmosphere is elegant, the service is friendly and polite. It's a perfect combination.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful EasterWe had a wonderful Easter dinner. The selections were great (with some special selections for Easter but the regular menu also available.) The food was delicious, the prices are reasonable and the ambiance is always welcoming, friendly and warm. The wait staff are attentive and accommodating.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food at this Petit RobertThe food at this Petit Robert Bistro is superb. The service was very good, if a bit slow at the end of the meal. The waiter was helpful and informative. The surroundings are pleasant and inducive to guests enjoying a fine meal. Most of the persons in tables near us were speaking Russian and Portuegese, leading us to think this restaurant must be very popular with visitors to Boston. For the excellence of the food, the prices are appropriate.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, nice ambiance,Great food, nice ambiance, a taste of France in Kenmore Square.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesomeLoved the place Nestor was wonderful and so helpful
This may become a favorite3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall very good. ServiceOverall very good. Service was excellent and food very good. I would go back and recommend it.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLe Vrai FrançaisAuthentic French menu, and well-prepared. Fine service, with a French accent to boot.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMNice, romantic date ideaI took my girlfriend here for our one-year anniversary and it didn't disappoint. It's everything you'd expect from a little French bistro - the quaint atmosphere, tasty traditional French food, and even a friendly waitstaff. The prices are actually pretty reasonable for the quality. I had the boeuf bourguignon and my girlfriend got the steak frites, both of which were tasty. We also got mussels, which were very delicious for a light appetizer.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMLittle gem on Kenmore SquareI needed to find a nice restaurant close to my son's apartment on Beacon Street so I found Petit Robert on a map search of area restaurants. Based on the website, it seemed like just the place. The food was absolutely superb. There were interesting and innovative cocktails. The service was attentive but not overbearing, and they kindly glossed over our breaking a salt shaker after sitting down! Despite being relatively small, its tables were placed at a comfortable distance from each other so we were able to have a pleasant conversation without feeling like we were sitting directly next to other diners. The restaurant would appeal to first daters, retirees, families, and groups of friends.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food. Gives everythingGood food. Gives everything requested a quick response. Quality ecperience.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
