The food was wonderful! We truly enjoyed our meals. We were seated right on time, but the service left a lot to be desired, which surprised us. We had to search out a waiter after 15 mins of no acknowledgement we were there. Half the party recieved the wrong drink order, and when the waiter tried to replace it the hostess 1st brought it to the wrong table, then spilled them on the floor, we never did have drinks. We had to send someone from the table to find the wine we ordered so we could enjoy it with our meals. The white peach souffle was fabulous and the waiter did say he had the kitchen get it right out to make up for the earlier debacle. He also provided us with a plate of cookies, yummy. Not here agin, but Kenmore yes!

A friend and I dined there on a Friday night. we had reservations at 6:30 PM and were greeted nicely and promptly seated. The tables are close together, so there's not a lot of privacy but there's plenty of conviviality. People were having fun and the waitstaff were handling the cramped space well. The noise level is moderate to loud. It would really help if they could reduce this. Food (bluefish, followed by blueberry tart) was delicious. I'd come back in a heartbeat.

I have always been a fan of Petit Robert, though I had never to been to the Columbus Ave. location. I took my mother here for lunch when she was in town for a visit. The meal was superb, with the exception of my usual favorite, the veggie pate. I think the quality on this may have slipped a bit. However, everything else was yummy, including the cocktails. It was a beautiful day, so they had the windows/doors open. Everything just seemed very quiet and relaxed. That was until a dump truck pulled up blaring some 80's rock. But everyone just laughed at how our peace had been interupted, waitstaff included. The service was wonderful, and it has a wonderfully intimate and European feel to it. Highly recommended.

New waiter needed more experience, but did get good support from other staff. Tables were very close together, reducing the otherwise decent Ambiance. The food was definitely the high point of the experience, reminding me of some excellent meals in Paris and Rennes. The deserts were fantastic, particularly the tarte tartin.

The food here is always high quality. We had dinner a little late and the place was still hopping when we got there - one might say it was a little too loud. Our server must have worked a double that day as he forgot a few of our requests - either that or he was traumatized when the table near us asked if he was Jewish, then asked if he was gay. Overall a great place - one to return to often. PS - Bring the movie posters back to the bathroom - it had so much more character that way!

Our meal at Petit Robert Bistro was outstanding. My only complaint is that it was so good I ate way too much. Wonderful French bistro food and at such a surprisingly wonderful price! And the service was fantastic to top it off. We will definately be returning and not just for special occasions.

The food was great- prices great as well. The service was fair. We stood for at least 5 minutes waiting for someone to check our reservation and seat us. We waited for about 20 minutes from when we were seated for our cocktails. Once we ordered the service seemed better- though we noticed that the people next to us, sat about 20 minutes after us and were served dessert and finished their meal before us. All is all we really liked the food and hope the service gets a bit better which would make it an even better experience.

We really enjoyed this restaurant. It is small but intimate and the fact that all the wait staff speak French is very charming and makes one feel as if you've traveled to Paris or Montreal. Food was excellent for the price and there was a good selection of items and some things that you don't see all the time. I would recommend it and would go back myself. Merveilleux!

It seems that regulars in this bistro are given preferential treatment. Although we had an appointment and were the the first in queue. Our window table was given to someone else who is a regular. We then were kept waiting for 25 minutes before someone took our order. The food is great, but the service could be a lot better.

Lovely restaurant, but the brunch food is consistently just o.k., regrettably. (This is based on several visits.) The French toast is blah; the poached eggs in frisee salad not so tasty; the omelettes fine but not much better than that -- all-in-all the food is not on par with the lovely atmosphere, attitude and service of the staff, all of which are wonderful. I don't write this to deter visitors, since I would like the restaurant to flourish and succeed -- but I hope the management will critically re-evaluate the brunch cooking and recipes, which don't compare to neighborhood alternatives such as Aquitaine or Union where the brunch food is consistently terrific.

This restaurant has a fatal flaw that they really should fix - to get from the front bar room to the dining room, you have to walk through a busy serving area by the kitchen, bumping into staff, avoiding the coat hooks menacing placed at eye level-ugh. I was disappointed that even though we made a special request to be seated at a quieter table, they seated us right under the speakers delivering loud, canned French music (!?@!) While our waiter seemed distracted and slow, other staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was good solid bistro fare. By chance (only) we noticed a couple of souffles being delivered to an adjacent table, which we immediately ordered - (no help from the waiter) they made the meal!

Bartender had a bad attitude and was not helpful. Side dishes were cold. Coffee contained a mouthful of grinds. Service slow and not responsive even though it was not that crowded towards end of evening. The bartender was a jerk with a french accent. Hostess informed me his farther had recently died and although this was not an excuse he was probably in a poor mood because of this. Bad experience. Suggest :DNV (Do Not Visit. When I told the waiter that the restaurant was a bit rough around the edges his response was " aren't all restaurants". No. Staff seemed immature.

I think the prices are excellent for the great quality of the food. It just seemed cramped and the waitstaff seemed harried. An overall frentic type of atmosphere. I would go back next time to the other location. Actually, my duck confit was excellent; my boyfriend's beef bouignone was good. Our service was friendly, but a little disjointed; different people were waiting on us. I had to remind them to charge me for the bottle of wine and they were apologizing...what for? I perhaps should have not said anything! I asked for more coffee, but didn't get it in the end. Then we were waiting & waiting for our last bill. It was a Saturday night, though. It would have been nicer if the atmosphere was just a bit more relaxed.

Although I had heard amazing reviews from their other location, the Columbus Avenue did not entirely meet my expectations. The service was good, although our waitress was new and was not trained well enough to explain the menu and specific dishes. The wine list was excellent and the food overall was good but some items could have been better. We had to ask for the bread which should have been a given.

Dinner was good but not great. I had very standard steak frite which was very tough, but tasty nonetheless. They were busy and service was slow but very friendly--really nice folks work there. We had to ask for menus after 10 minutes. One complaint is the noise level. We're tired of loud restaurants where you have to scream to have a decent conversation which is why we don't go to Gaslight anymore and sadly Petite Robert in the South End is no exception. If memory serves me right the Kenmore location was quieter when we were there last. Would I eat here again? Yes.

We've been regulars at Petit Robert (originally in Kenmore, now at the South End location) for a couple of years. Sadly Petit Robert seems to be a victim of their own success. Service is less personal, the restaurant is almost always full (and too loud), unavailable menu items (even early in the evening) and on this visit, a disagreeable waiter. He went so far to argue with us that the the pinot grigio that we ordered was the same as the pinot gris he tried to serve us. And I'm curious why there seems to be so much staff turnover - used to be a pretty consistent team of servers, now there are new faces (and no familiar faces except the owners and Sophie) every time we visit.

The cooking could have been better executed with some dishes far better than others. The pate was delicious, deserts were fine (though too sweet for our tastes) however the entrees in some cases were overcooked but others were delicious. Overall, the food is fine however improvements could be made in terms of consistency. The worse part of the experience was our server. Our server was inattentive, unprofessional and generally seemed disinterested. We had to continually wait for and flag our server throughout the course of our meal. However, the server bringing our food was very attentive to detail and any of our other needs.
