The staff treated us like VIP patrons and it was our first time. Our party of 4 loved the food, the service & especially our waiter, Sammy. Sammy was attentive, knowledgeable, and very personable. We had boeuf bourguignon (hearty and seasoned perfectly), the scallops (perfectly cooked), steak frites, and filet mignon. Started with house salads, caesar salad and an assorted cheese plate (suggested by Sammy) of St. Andre, chevre, fire toasted french bread slices, shredded prosciutto and a jam. Dessert was profiteroles and a trio of cremes brulees (cappuccino, chocolate and traditional). We were treated to complimentary Grand Marnier with dessert. Two bottles of wine--a suggested Cotes du Rhone-delicious! All this for under $260 for 4!!

Less than half full on a Friday night, we had reservations and were seated quickly. Attentive server, gave us time to read the menu. Classic Bistro menu. I tried the escargot and the trout special, both quite tasty. My companion ordered the pappardelle. The pasta was fine but the crostini was a greasy blob. They gave us one piece of French bread with butter, and then removed the plates.

My dining companiaon and I had eaten at Petit Poulet before and we had always been very satisfied. It served as a good French bistro with all the amenities: great service, French menu staples like Beef Bourguignon, and enjoyable wines. However, when we dined last Friday, we were treated to a different experience. My dining partner has a gluten allergy and so he ordered the salad nicoise. He had ordered the same dish on previous occasions but, instead of the seared, sliced tuna that had accompanied the salad before, he was treated to what looked like chopped tuna fish. He did not feel that it was terribly fresh. He did say that the rest of the salad was very fresh and delicious. I ordered the moules frites. The mussels were large and plump. The wine was excellent and, after ordering a second glass, the waiter even poured a little complimentary extra in my glass. This was indicative of the service throughout, which was friendly and attentive as usual.

My husband and I went to Petit Poulet because it was convenient that evening and what a pleasant surprise. The quality of the food, the bountiful portions are more on the line of French Country style and everything was just wonderful. I had the cornish hens...delicious and my husband had the chicken puff pastry and it melted in your mouth. The crepe suzette was sumptuous . We'll definitely go back and bring friends.

Just behind the Empire State Building, this 2012 French bistro was quiet at an 8 o'clock evening dinner. Staff knowledgeable with the menu and food preparation so ordering was a pleasure. At the table, a filet mignon tartare, a Cornish hen, and apple tart with vanilla bean ice cream were all classic, delicious and artfully presented. Next time would likely order from the compelling 3 or 6 piece self-selected cheese and chaucuterie. Definitely on short-list whenever in the neighborhood and just two blocks from Penn Station.

Made a reservation for 10. They phoned and asked if it was a special occasion. I told them that it was my birthday. When we arrived they had complimentary glasses of bubbly for us to toast. Quite surprising and super cool. The room is on the small side and dimly lit. It made for a cozy atmosphere. The sound level was low so no problem hearing each other. The food was excellent-(but I have to say that the caesar salad was on the bland side). The service was perfect. They paid attention to us all night and were able to serve everyone at the same time. We recommend everything we ordered which was practically the entire menu: charcuterie, rotisserie chicken, escargot, bouillabaisse, scallops... I really couldn't ask for more.

First time at this french cuisine restaurant I noticed walking by the street of the Chelsea borough in New York. I got pretty seduced by the "french bistrot" ambience you can guess from the street and I could actually appreciate both kitchen and ambience. The meal was good and well presented, service kindfull. I recommand this place if you are looking for some good french kitchen in New York.

Some how they forgot about our order when the restaurant was only 4/5ths full. We had been sitting for about 45 minutes before I had to say something. Never got our appetizer and had to rush through our entrees in order to catch an 8pm show. They comped an unwanted dessert for us. I had originally thought that 2 hours was an appropriate time frame to eat and relax, but I was mistaken. Food was good, but good food is only part of running a restaurant.

Friendly staff, but first choice on menu was sold out and second choice, the Cornish hen was too salty. Even the sides (over cooked roasted potatoes and green beans), were unnecessarily salted. The waiter was friendly and dessert sounded too large so the cappuccino was enough. Not one of the stellar New York restaurants.

Went for lunch and enjoyed the space. Nice bistro feel and big open windows to watch the world go by. It was a bit hot to sit outside, but that would be very nice on a nice day. I had the bouillabaisse en croute and she had the fish. Both were very good. I was really craving the pastry and it was very nicely done. I understand this is the latest in a string of places in this location and I hope they succeed. Service was a little disorganized and slightly slow, but not enough to be really irritating. some room for improvement. Food was good but not spectacular. The space is really nicely done. Feel like a sitting room or homey bistro. We'll try it again next time we're in town.

Okay food, not so great service. The day I went to Petit Poulet, I had to wait quite a long to be asked what I wanted, for my first glass of water, the bill, and to process my payment. For the latter, I gave up and went directly to the till.

A little gem in the middle of Manhattan! Delicious food, excellent service, nice portions slightly moderated from French sizes :) yet, maintaining the same subleme taste. Steps away from the Herald Square so instead of setting for "whatever" in this busy shopping district You would be better off selecting this restaurant to just sit down and enjoy your fabulous meal in a quiet atmosphere not to far away from the surrounding that area vibe that is called: Chaos :)

This big-enough-and-not-too-large bistro style hotel lobby restaurant is terrific, and a great find in a nabe without many reasonably priced good places to eat. Something so mundane as rotisserie chicken - a great value there - comes out incredibly juicy and flavorful. Portions are terrific - you'll be taking some home to enjoy the next day. Wait staff is attentive and not annoying, and quite gracious. A find! Tip: Come Tuesday evenings when they have cassoulet on special, a real treat. $20, and again, you'll get two meals out of it.

We ordered the reasonably priced prix fixe lunch. We enjoyed immensely every course! We loved the soup of the day, potato/ leeks and the generous serving of the house salad. For our main course, our efficient and friendly server, Servane, recommended the fish of the day, branzino - and wow, we unanimously agreed that it was the best cooked branzino that we have eaten in restaurants in a long time. The serving was also more generous than what many restaurants offer. We capped our satisfying lunch with the delicious espresso creme brulee served with an imaginatively cut strawberry. I must mention also that server, Javier, quickly granted our request to heat our bread without fussing. This place makes sure customers are happy!

Starting with the good...Rotisserie chicken was good, juicy, and tasty. The BAD - I was the one who ordered the scallops on black linguine in a wine, butter sauce. The scallops were on thick, goopy, creamy sauce with a few strands of soggy pasta in it. I took the scallops off the plate and when I returned the pasta, telling the waiter that the sauce was too thick, the waiter should have asked me if I wanted the pasta in another sauce. He didn't. Woudl I return if I was going back to MSG? Maybe, but I would be ordering the chicken.

My guests were skeptical about a restaurant right off Broadway and Herald Square, but Petit Poulet was a more-than-pleasant surprise. This French bistro is beautifully done, our waiter was attentive and helpful, the food and wine were great. I had the steak fites and my guests had the chicken in puff pastery. We started with escargot -- which is plenty for three people to share. Portions are healthy sized. And the prices are reasonable.
