The Peter Shields Inn & Restaurant features a seasonally driven menu bursting with creativity. A favorite of Cape May locals and visitors alike, PSI offers a la carte dining along with a variety of seasonal tasting menus throughout the year. The magnificent ocean views offer the perfect setting to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy a memorable dining experience in beautiful Cape May. During the summer months outdoor dining is available on the front porch overlooking the ocean, and several fireplaces keep the restaurant feeling cozy throughout the winter. Live piano music can be enjoyed at the restaurant all year long. PSI also specializes in hosting elegant ocean front weddings throughout the year, making this the perfect location for special celebrations. The dress code at PSI is Business Casual. PSI is no longer a BYOB as of 1/1/25, we offer a full spirits, wine and beer list. There is a $40 corkage fee for guests that would like to bring in a personal bottle.

Honest review here. Years, I mean years ago we went to Peter Shields and it was a time when it just was not good. You keep these things in your head and perhaps you shouldn't. At least in this case for sure. We went to our very first Restaurant Week and Peter Shields was it. As there were so many people taking advantage of it, we had to sit in the downstairs lounge which had several folks there. Everyone chatted it up with us and it was fun. The fellow who served our drinks could have had more personality but that's no reflection on Peter Shields. Once we sat it was very surprising how so many people were there, friendly, and it was not loud. Terrific! My husband went off the Restaurant Week menu and had Oysters and Escargot and the Salmon from the special menu. He raved about all of it. My meal was just as terrific from the special menu. Our wait staff, all of them, were terrific. The piano player should have received $ from anyone as he was terrific. When I got home I pinged my friend and told her we had to go out as couples and we plan another visit soon. Thank you for the wonderful evening!

We enjoyed the restaurant week menu selections very much. Loved the crab & corn chowder. Friendly service and not rushed. Lovely ambiance and quiet enough to hold a conversation easily.

We had waited 4 years to try Peter Shields. It blew us away! The quiet ambiance and live piano music (who took requests) was phenomenal! We enjoyed dinner with friends to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday. Easily in our top 3 dinner experiences, and we’ve travelled across the country with the Coast Guard! The waiter knew the menu and gave excellent recommendations as well!

My wife and I shared a 20oz Kansas City steak that was perfect! The salads were also great, as was the dessert. Our waiter Dylan was very attentive and knowledgeable.

Crabcake app was very good. Wife ordered chicken, it was very dry, sauce was too spicy. I had the seabass, it was unremarkable at best. Underseasoned and bland. Leeks added nothing. Place was not the same. We've dined there a dozen times, this was not up to par. Not being BYO is a big minus. I had vodka on the rocks and was charged 2 dollars for ROCKS! no filet mignon, no scallops, no shrimp on the menu and no piano player. Just not the same place we used to love
