Diner Reviews
  • "6 of us went for a Saturday dinner, 4:30pm, so it was early. We had good service since we were the first table in the restaurant. The waiter was a little hoe-hum, but the food was great. All 6 of us got a steak and they were delicious. However, for the price, I feel like you should get a vegetable and a potato, not just a potato. Just personal opinion though. All in all, I'd go again for a special occasion and recommend it to others that are celebrating something. "

  • "Filet mignon perfectly prepared; great service; house-made desserts (and current promo: no corkage fee). We look forward to our next dinner there."

  • "Service was the best part of the evening, Corey (I hope I got his name right, was helping out from the Evanston location) was fantastic. Quick, knowledgable, funny without being in the way...really wonderful. The steaks were good and enjoyed by those that ordered. The Juicy Lucy was not great, the idea with that is that when you bite into it the cheese oozes out, the cheese was solid in the burger. I do wish I'd ordered a steak. The outside area wasn't open but looks really nice, the bartenders were great. I'd go to eat outside or at the bar if we go again but there are so many other places to try in the area."

  • "I didn't want to down grade the restaurant as I know they have served us better but I did need to send my entree back as the special short ribs were way too fatty to eat and the portion, described as 12 oz with bone was approx. 1/2 bone and disappointing, esp given the price. Also, the short ribs came with pototoes and as do not eat carbs I asked if I could substitute a vegetable and the server indicated, yes which in my mind implies that I could substitute a vegetable. The bill reflected a full charge, $8.00 for the spinach rather than an up charge for a vegetable. Not a good decision by the restaurant, esp. when the server said yes, to my question. I didn't argue, but wasn't happy. It may be a while before I return."

  • "I love the vibrant atmosphere and live music. It's a great place for a special occasion and for a group if friends out for the night. The food is consistently good. I especially loved the filet trio. Well worth making the trip from the city. It's also not full of a lot of screaming children. A plus for those of us who are recent empty nesters."

  • "This used to be my favorite restaurant to bring a my theater group to before we went to the Marriott for a play. The Twilight menu was fabulous and everyone was very happy with it. Now it is gone and I'm afraid my Marriott group won't be eating here pre-play any longer."

  • "Food is definitely not worth the price. Main server was obnoxious. The server that was training was very good. Other servers standing around chatting. There are a lot of other places in the area to spend that kind of money. I expected a better experience. When leaving the restaurant the hostess at the door did not even look up to thank us for coming. There was no one else around at the time. Overall - Very disappointed."

  • "Good ambience, not so crowded (Monday), good live music ... something like a "light jazz" with a piano accompaniment (without any other instruments). Food is not bad, but the waiters was concentrated on "their own problems". And, of course, that is not the cheapest place to go (about 2 times more expensive than any other place with the same food, but without the live music)."

  • "We had an awful experience. At 7pm on a Saturday night they were out of sauvignon blanc. They were also out of grouper! That is, until they pulled some from the big party in the restaurant. The waiter took forever to take our order. It also took a very long time to get our food; maybe they were preoccupied with the party meals. The manager only said he was sorry. That hardly was sufficient for the lack of service. It also was not smooth getting the bill. When we spoke to the manager again he offered a voucher for a future meal which was useless since we told him we wouldn't come back. It took another very long time for him to agree to us using the voucher for this meal. When we left the restaurant he totally ignored us."

  • "I hate to write a critical review, as I really like this local restaurant but our recent experience was not what we generally expect. We had a server in training for this dinner and he needed a bit more supervision. My husband and I each ordered dinner salads for our meal, seemed easy. My husband asked to have the onions and cheese on the side however the salad came with the ingredients mixed in. I asked for chicken on my salad but it came without the protein. Also, we waited a lot longer than it generally takes to have the kitchen prepare this meal. The 'main server" apologized for the lack of chicken, a "meager" portion was provided and yes, they took it off the bill which was nice. So, at the end of the day, we will go back."

  • "In the neighborhood and always thought of as a place to hang for singles. Sunday night dinner was wonderful for us to celebrate and have a great meal. It was supurb. Ribs were excellent, the Dover was excellent, dessert was amazing...chocolate cake! Service was perfect. Piano background and very easy to chat. Very comfortable and clean."

  • "It was my husband's birthday (the actual day), so I mentioned that in the reservation, as well as when we entered the restaurant. The server was wonderful, efficient, fun and accommodating. Warm bread welcomed us. YUM. We split a small salad to begin our meal. My husband had a steak which he enjoyed. I had salmon prepared exactly as I had requested. Our drinks were promptly refilled and refreshed. We selected a dessert which came with a candle and our celebration was almost over. Lovely meal. My only disappointment was I thought perhaps because it was his birthday, we might have gotten a half price dessert or something. We did spend a few bucks on dinner, afterall."

  • "Pete Miller's used to be on par with Wildfire in terms of service, food, and ambiance. Not sure what's happened in the last 5 years, but I won't be returning. Dirty tablecloth, dirty water glass, dirty cocktail glass. Bacon wrapped scallop appetizer was plated carelessly and taste wasn't impressive. Tuna and filet trio were good...but for the price, you can enjoy all aspects of a dining experience at Wildfire (where I've never had a disappointment of amy sort). Not worth the money, in my opinion. The whole experience reminded me of dining in an airport hotel restaurant. Sad."

  • "The food and ambience were great. We had a couple issues with our server, one being he forgot one of our side items so it came out after we reminded him a good deal into our main course. He apologized and we understand human error. All was forgiven, however, after spending $170 dollars for our night, we purposely saved some leftovers for us to feast on the next day. You know how you look forward to having leftovers after a fancy and expensive night out. Not planning anything else for dinner, since there was plenty, you can imagine the disappointment when we opened the boxes and found half our leftovers missing. Part of our 22 oz bone in rib eye ( a $ 45 dollar steak), had been thrown away and not sent home with us). Quite disappointed."

  • "Dinning was a great experience, atmosphere was good lighting was fine. The Front entrance was to dark this should be corrected. There was a hiccup with our order it was corrected quickly. The aroma from the Coffee station entice us to have coffee. The live music is a plus."

  • "Excellent food and service, enjoyed looking at the old pictures on the walls. We will definitely return."

  • "Overall, the restaurant is pretty worn, and in serious need of redecorating. The service was good. The food was fair-moderate. The bar scene was the best part of the place. There was live entertainment that was very good. Overall, an OK place for dinner with a pretty steep price tag."

  • "Pete Millers has become a real neighborhood favorite for us. The food and service are always reliably good and having enjoyable entertainment is such a nice addition. Definitely a spot we will continue to visit."

  • "We were a bit disappointed in the overall food experience. Great menu choices, but the food itself was nothing special from appetizers to dessert; very ordinary for the high price. The service was wonderful and our server was very helpful and attentive."

  • "I used to love Pete Miller's, but the food just fell flat. My chopped salad was nothing great, flavorless, and the homemade dressing blah. My filet was decent, but under seasoned, baked potatoe overdone to the point of a mashed & the veggies watery. Also, the table bread had good texture, but no flavor. Everything was just blah. I ordered a side of scallops that, again, we're flavorless & a bit underdone. Not my first choice to go back to in the suburbs."

  • "One of the few Chicagoland restaurants to offer a Mardi Gras menu. They had a reasonable selection of New Orleans food. And it is always a good dinner."

  • "Food was excellent. We had the Calamari and Scallops for appetizers (two appetizers) the scallops were huge and succulent and wonderful. Wrapped in bacon and with a sweet whiskey sauce (yum). I had the Lobster Mac & Cheese for my main dish. I suggest everybody try it. Four cheeses a lobster tail on top & chunks mixed in, this dish is decedent and delicious. Also a very generous portion. My husband had the Sea Bass (wonderful). I love the atmosphere of this place. But the service was lacking. Our server was polite but seemed uncomfortable even shy about interaction."

  • "My husband & I were there for our anniversary. We have had prior great times there. I was not happy with my entree choice of the Crab Legs. They were not very well cracked. I do not enjoy working that hard to enjoy my meal."

  • "I really enjoyed the restaurant. I signed up to join the rewards program. I'm planning on attending their easter brunch. The only complaint I have is upon arrival my table was given away because we were late do to inclement weather. We waited maybe 10 minutes for another table. Once we were seated everything went well. The service and food was great. Lisa Picardi"

  • "Pete Miller's was very good if you stayed with the regular menu. Salmon and steak was excellent. Salad and vegetable delicious. Marti Gras menu did not messure up. Beignets did not taste like beignets; more like churros and the jambalaya was too watery. Service was good and friendly. Like the dining room in the colder months, but prefer the outdoor patio in the summer. Love the varied menu; I can get a full dinner or a burger or salad if not that hungry. Enjoy the music in the bar area very much."

  • "The food was fabulous! The waiter who served us was friendly, attentive and very professional. The drinks we had were good. The one complaint I had was the service in the bar, while we waited for our table, the bartenders completely ignored us. We arrived about 20 minutes early, so we could go to the bar and have a drink before dinner. We finally got our drinks just as we were called to be seated for dinner. Unacceptable!!"

  • "We were pleasantly greeted and shown our table. My brother in law was here from Japan and loves Jazz. We had a great band playing with a beautiful female vocalist. Our kids even enjoyed the place (4 & 7) and the Yelp data was wrong the restaurant is kid friendly. The only problem was an obnoxious bartender who made it difficult to hear and enjoy the music"

  • "The night we went they had a table in back that was a empty room. It looked like they just set this up and the area up front was much nicer. Service was a bit slow during dinner when they could find us but they sat us down at the time of our reservation. It was a busy night and we made last minute plans. Food was ok. We had fish and both were good but not exceptional. We would try again . The out door area for summer looks very nice."

  • "Pete Miller's has always been one of our favorite places for dinner & we weren't disappointed on Tuesday. Our server, DeJesus, was on top of things, and the food was outstanding. (Get the chopped salad!) My only complaint was as we entered & were leaving...an older gentleman greeted us less than enthusiastically as we entered the restaurant. And, he never looked up from the desk as we were leaving, either - despite the fact I made a genuine effort to comment on how wonderful our server was. All I got in response was a grunt. Restaurants should know how important it is to acknowledge customers - whether they are entering our leaving their restaurant. Thank goodness, this is not the normal Pete Miller's response!"
