  • "Pescatore's is a friendly, warm, celiac-friendly fine dining experience. I had Atlantic lobster which was cooked perfectly and cut so I could easily get the meat. Our waiter was friendly, informative, attentive but not too much. My mum had the seafood salad, which was perfect (and she is picky). They have a good variety of meal to satisfy every appetite, and their carrot beet cake was exceptionally delicious. Can't wait to return!"

  • "The restaurant has a really pleasant atmosphere. It was both quiet and talkative and has beautiful fish tanks. I was too engrossed in the good food to pay much attention to the other diners but i did notice a broad mix in attire, ranging from shorts and a T-shirt to formal with a tie. I had the wild salmon with a rice risotto and my guest had the halibut. Both were delicious. The wild salmon risotto was so good I've been telling my friends to try it. We paired this with a white wine, Gewurztraminer, which added a pleasant sweetness to the dishes. The service was perfect. The waitress introduced herself quickly and politely and seemed to show up at right moment never leaving us wanting or waiting. We're going back to Pescatores."

  • "Was in Victoria British Columbia and tried this place. The seafood was outstanding. The fish is limited to what is local and freshly caught. No farm raised salmon here. It's pricey but so is everything in Canada. Get a reservation because it was very busy! That said the service was great, the waitress understood without asking that my father and I were hungry and not cocktailing so things moved quickly but not rushed."

The house-smoked salmon salad and the seafood salad were especially good. We all enjoyed our meal and our delightful server, who was personable and attentive. We were given a wonderful table and presented with some complimentary bubbly just after we sat down. Our server was superb--very knowledgeable and attentive. Food was delicious. We had an absolutely wonderful dinner and couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. Kudos to Pescatores for helping make our evening truly special."

  • "We had the green salad with pickled vegetables - one of the best I've ever had, and if ordering full not half portions, is enough for two to split. I had the lobster and crab cannelloni - very good. My dining partner had smoked salmon linguini - we both had half portions and it was enough. Lemon grass Brule. The service was great and the ambiance lovely. We liked it so much we came back for lunch two days later! Lunch time is less crowded."

  • "We had a wonderful evening, but this wasn't it. Considering the positive reviews I read about this restaurant prior to making my reservation, it was especially disappointing to find that the crab dinner we ordered was not very good. The crab itself was presented well, but the meat of the body of the crab was mushy and flavourless, as if it had been previously frozen then thawed. The leg and claw meat was a little better, but still substandard. To add insult to injury, the crab itself was priced higher than others we have enjoyed in the past at other restaurants. "

  • "Shared the seafood platter which is $95 for 2 last time I had the platter it cost $75 and included lobster (guess this means I am getting old). The platter was good - I would not describe it as being excellent - amount of food was good just nothing about the platter stood out for me. We wanted lobster but they had none on Friday night at 6:30 pm. The accompanying vegetables were very good. Bread was suppose to be fresh but tasted and felt stale ( they need to get te bread recipe from paglacci's). The dessert fondu was excellent - excellent quantity of fruit and lovely dipping chocolate. Service was excellent and very attentive. "

  • "This used to be a great restaurant. I've been coming to pescatores for years and they had some items that were staples on the menu like the blacken halibut with Alaskan King crab on top or the crab stuffed spoke trout - but the new head chef removed these items and replaced them with less or items that are no where close to as good."

  • "Prices are at a five star restaurant level, but this restaurant is far from being one. Ambience is poor, with a very noisy kitchen, that you hear all over the restaurant. For $26, my Sooke trout was minimal and with very little veggies. My wife's entree had 3 shrimps am done scallop. Dessert was good but overpriced for a very thin slice of cake. This restaurant is overrated and won't go back."

  • "We went on mothers day and remembered from a previous meal what we liked. Ordering the seafood salad was a definite for us, as was the carbonara. We found they had changed the salad from a decent portion to a tiny little plate. We also ordered a halibut dish, another small portion and plain. We didn't enjoy it. The carbonara was a good as we remembered it, however we were sure we ordered a half order last time we had gone, and it was larger than our full order this time. We left disappointed, overcharged for what we got, and hungry."

The decor extremely outdated. I would NOT recommend this restaurant especially since there are so many other restaurants within walking distance. "

  • "Our reservation was for 7:45, booked for 3. We were seated at 8:30 and told that our reservation had been made for 2 guests. Not so...and I had the confirmation to prove it. Our wait was enhanced by numerous updates... first it was five minutes, then ten, the people who were at our table were given their cheque, then they were about to receive their cheque, then the table was being prepared, then the table was only for 2 so then another table being prepared. The reception area was chaotic. Once seated, our waitress took our order immediately. The starters arrived quickly. The main courses took another hour. While the food was excellent, it did not compensate for the restaurant's utter lack of professionalism."

It reminded me of a Seinfeld episode, they know how to take a reservation, but they don't know how to hold a reservation, and that's the most important part of the reservation, the holding......"

  • "Food was excellent, but the service was poor. Got to Pescatores early to have a drink before our friends showed up. Hostess said our table was ready so we didn't need to have the drink at the bar. Never got that drink because the server didn't even acknowledge us until bringing water 15 minutes later. We waited for absolutely everything, one of our drinks came with a huge black hair in it, my main course was missing the vegetables, we were never quality checked although all her other tables around us were all quality checked, cutlery was taken but not replaced after the appys until we asked. Again, the food was excellent, but I don't know if I would go back just based on how poor the service was."

  • "We went here for my boyfriends birthday, neither of us had been before and we were both looking forward to it as we both love seafood. The service was very slow. We waited at least 10 - 15 minutes before our waitress came by to take our drink order. Once our food finally arrived, it was good, however the portions were very small, especially considering the price and this was for the full order, I'm glad we didn't get the half! And again we had to track down our waitress to get another drink, and have our plates cleared from the table, even though there seemed to be plenty of staff walking by our table all night, getting somene to stop at our seemed next to impossible. Overall, food is decent, but not worth the price, disappointing"

  • "I selected Pescatore's out of ALL the restaurants in Victoria when visitors from Vancouver indicated they enjoyed seafood. Having the check list of all the FRESH items makes a difference. Service by Kelly was perfect, she was there when we needed her (refilling water, etc.) and when understanding that we were not in a hurry gave us the leisurely meal with friends that we wanted. thanks"

  • "I have lived in Victoria for almost 20 years and wanted to give Pescatores a try. It's one of the few restaurants in town that have been here this long. The whole experience was way below expectations. First off, the music was not appropriate for the ambiance - playing energetic electronic music, come on! Low-volume classical should be more appropriate. Ordered the calamari and Manhattan clam chowder to start with. The calamari was deep fried and not pan fried as per menu. Also, had to send the chowder back as it had no clams in it! The server said they would make a new one - seemed like they scraped the bottom of the pan. Took 30 min to get a new one. Halibut and chips was delicious. Crab and lobster mushroom ravioli was dry and tasteless."

  • "Everything about the restaurant was fine. Service was polite but indifferent. Server didn't come around at all to see how things were going. Food was ok but very bland, not worth the high prices. We went during Dine Around and even then, not worth the ptice. and it took an hour for our main courses to come after our starters were cleared away. Atmosphere was nice but for just "OK", we'll go elsewhere next time."

  • "We were very excited to try Pescatores for the first time. The atmosphere was great, and we went in with the expectation that it would be very busy as it is currently Dine Around. However, we waited for an hour and a half for our mains. We also waited for 45+ mins for drinks and by the time we ordered dessert, almost all of the desserts were sold out. Our waitress was friendly and apologized for the delay (another server had taken the main that was to be mine and they had to re-make our mains). If a restaurant chooses to participate in Dine Around, the expectation should be that they're ready for the increased volume. Unfortunately, and we feel Pescatores wasn't, although the mgr did discount our bill which we greatly appreciated."

  • "Have dined many times in the past at Pescatores and been very pleased with the food, however our lunch was a disaster. The soup was good but cold. My friend's fish cakes were cold. Several of us ordered Caesar salad and the lettuce they used, I would have discarded if it were in my home. When I mentioned it to our waiter he said "I noticed when I was bringing it out to you it wasn't very good." I think that was why he failed to ever come and ask if everything was okay. He did remove the salads from our bill. There were only 4 tables occupied while we were there for lunch and it was a Friday. Maybe the kitchen staff were having a bad day???"

The first time (Saturday night) there was a large group and their conversation level and loud outbursts made conversation at our table very difficult. This last time (also Saturday night) it was better, but still seemed louder than most restaurants of similar capacity. Given the wonderful food and decor, a more subdued atmosphere would elevate this restaurant to the top in Victoria. This minor factor won't stop be going back though - it's worth it! I may try to go on another day of the week. The Boston clam chowder, scallops & scampi and chocolate fondue are tops!"

  • "My wife and I went to Pescatores the day after Valentine's Day to avoid the crush. Pescatores was very busy. We had a reservation through Open Table and they sat us about 5 to 10 minutes after our reservation time. We didn't mind. The appetizers were excellent, as well as the main courses (New York steak and lobster for me and beef tenderloin and Dungeness crab for my wife). We had a half-litre of the Oyster Bay Shiraz, NZ. It was average. Our server was most attentive. It did take about 45 minutes from the time we sat down until the first appetizers came. After that, the food staging was perfect and we enjoyed our meal very much. This is definitely a "special occasion" place. The bill with tip came to $187.00."
