Diner Reviews
  • "Very few good wines; none typically reserved for restaurants. Food was average."

  • "Oddly, my favorite seafood place in the Twin Cities is 90 miles away. I love this place. 4 visits, no clunkers. Intriguing specials, knowledgable wait staff. Beet salad to die for, with Chèvre Croquettes which could stand on their own as an appetizer ("Goat Balls?"). Seafood is king here but plenty to satisfy the land-lubber. Seafood is always perfectly prepared with your choice of many nice sauces, and the wait staff knows well how to match the fish and the adornment. These folks are a part of the family which includes my local favorite in Eden Prairie (Minneapolis): Tavern 4&5 and also Chester's in Rochester. Not a cheap date, but value-appropriate. "

  • "Great food, great drinks, excellent service. We usually treat our family to special birthday dining, the flavor of the food surpassed expectations! The only thing that will keep us from coming back more often is the price."

  • "Everything is good except the amount of food, it is hard to feel full if without the free bread..."

  • "Not only was the standard menu laced with creativity, they had quite a few specials which sounded very good as well. And, this was a Thursday night! We loved the Bang Bang Calamari. Their salad special was a wedge with an interesting dijon dressing. We both enjoyed our entrees: mussels rosotto and the halibut special. Bartender needed directions on how to make a Manhattan, but he got it by the time we ordered the 2nd one. We would definitely go back."

  • "My wife and I go there every time we are in Rochester. Great food, great service. Make a reservation!"

  • "My wife, daughter, and I enjoyed another fabulous meal. The tuna tartare appetizer is a must and my wife would add that so too is the red beet salad. Although not thought of as a kid's place, our 10 year old daughter said that the chicken linguini with the alfredo sauce was one of the best kid's menu items she has ever had, next closest is the Zoe's Cheeseburger from their sibling restaurant Chester's. I was so excited to see the Halibut back in season and on the menu. Again, sure enjoyment with that entree."

  • "Hearing great things about Pescara, I was excited to try it on Saturday. Unfortunately, the restaurant felt very disorganized. We arrived early for our 1.30 reservation and had to wait; there was no host at the host stand during the 10 minutes we waited. It was almost comedy of errors. We were given bread without any bread plates. I had to ask for sweetener 3 times before we received it. My soup and my father's were mixed up with our sandwiches. The noise was loud due to a very fussy baby and children. It was not a relaxing or pleasant lunch. We usually go to Michael's but we wanted to try something different and we all love seafood. The food was fine, which was a blessing but I don't think I'd bother to go back again."

  • "Excellent food with superb service makes this a wonderful dining experience! Priced by the plate with fabulous fresh fish choices that are not inexpensive but are worthy of the investment!"

  • "Ok, first time my wife and I came to Mayo Clinic in November 2013 we treated ourselves to Pescara. Reservations for 7, table not ready. Xavi, general manager apologized,..gave us a glass of wine and chatted us up. Nice move. Half hour wait to be seated. We needed to return to Mayo. ugh. Pescara treat? Same thing happened, only this time worse. Reservations did not help again; table not ready. Seated finally at 7:40 pm. Xavi not there. Hostess said something to GM on duty. He did not even bother to come over to apologize...nothing. Greed vs. good service? Food was good, but not worth the increase in my blood pressure and negative feelings. Bad for my health...which is unfortunately why I am here. Recommend? Yes, but more accurate-"maybe"."

  • "Scallops lived up to the hype. Green bean salad was creative, but a meager portion. This might have been the most knowledgeable waitress we've ever had anywhere."

  • "We have dined at Pescara about 6 times now and each time the cuisine was superior. They have very fine sauces that go with their entrees. Some of our favorites include the tuna dinner and the ciopati along with the creme brulee' dessert. The staff is professional."

  • "Very, very good food, but at a premium price! We were seated right on time to our reservations (3 in our party) and our waiter was very attentive and prompt."

  • "Pescara is where we go to celebrate, have a memorable dining experience, enjoy great seafood, treat each other. It is top shelf top to bottom, we have had such great times there on special events and hope to continue so for a very long time. it is so nice to have such a great quality restaurant in Rochester Minnesota."

  • "I have nothing but accolades for this seafood restaurant. Several different ways to prepare seafood and several different toppings and glazes complemented our dining experience. Calamari as an appetizer was terrific as was my swordfish. My husband's ahi tuna was superb! And we loved the roasted Brussels sprouts with pancetta. Great dining spot!"

  • "Food and service were wonderful. We were seated at a table along the long bench area. Too close to other diners."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed the evening & our dinner. It is clearly one of the best restaurants in Rochester Minnesota & we were pleased that a friend recommended it to us. The service is exemplary and the wild rice and brussels sprouts were among the best I have ever enjoyed. The wall eye and the bread pudding are over-the-top. The manager went out of his way to chat with us and he is an excellent ambassador not only for the restaurant but for the Doubletree Hotel. If you are in Rochester for a few days it is a must. Their sister restaurant Chester's is both more casual and Less expensive. Their food that is excellent as well. It is located in the university shops and accessible via the underground walkways that cover much of downtown Rochester."

  • "Everything was outstanding except waiting for our reserved table as other non reserved parties of our same size were seated before us. That was more than irritating."

  • "We had a wonderful dining experience at Pescara. My wife had the clam disn made up of finely chopped seasoned shellfish was different and excellent. I had tuna tartare which was delicious. We then shared a great beet salad with warn fried goat cheese. My wife had a small filet that was perfect and I had the greek style whole bronzini that I would have trouble bypassing the next time at Pescara. We shared the flourless chocolate dessert. Service was spot on."

  • "We've eaten at Pescara often since they've opened in Rochester. We've never been disappointed in the food. They know how to prepare seafood. The Fish selection changes daily depending on what is fresh and available. The salads are superb as well. The waitstaff is usually outstanding. Saturday evening, however, our waiter was jst good. We had to ask for silverware, ask twice for a lemon, One in our party wasn't served for over 5 minutes after the other 3, our chk was tkn before we'd finished dessert and we hadn't even put our cr cd down. Pescara serves fabulous seafood. Wish they served a good American or Canadian lobster but; all is still good @ Pescara! Oh! If you have room try THE best bread pudding. Otherwise, get it to go 4 l8r ;-d"

  • "We enjoyed a wonderful meal prepared by the culinary team of Chef Tony. Our server Kampheak made great suggestions including Rochester's Best Dish 'Insignia' scallops. We may have over indulged a bit by having great West coast oysters, moving on tothe signa turescallops then to salads laden with rich Amablue cheese. However, we did only partake in one bread pudding after our steak and perfectly seared salmon. All in all, this place is a must dine for foodies."

  • "Pescara has very good food, the best steak I have had in town. Seafood is also very good and fresh. The wild Mushroom Risotto is outstanding, you must try it. Very good selection of wine and service is very good."

  • "Always the freshest and best fish in Rochester - maybe in Minnesota!"
    Dined on 2/11/2014
  • "We enjoyed our food from Pescara very much, and for Rochester, it was outstanding. However, it took an unreasonably long time for it to appear, and our server was MIA for most of that time. The server was a little delayed coming out to us, then I asked for a taste of one of their wines, and it was probably 15 minutes before I grabbed the server to say I would like a glass. Then it was maybe another 10 minutes before it was brought out to me (by someone else). The server was pleasant, but the majority of the time she spent with us was when she turned over the bill. Perhaps they were short-staffed."

  • "We chose the restaurant because of the closeness to our hotel. It was a great choice. The food was excellent, the wine list was an interesting blend, the service was friendly and professional. I would recommend the restaurant to anyone. The bananas and ice cream is a great desert, try it."

  • "No disappointments here! The fresh/raw oysters were very, very good. Who knew that was even possible in Minnesota, let alone the dead of winter. The Chilean Sea Bass I ordered was prepared to perfection. Wait staff is well trained, and attentive. Anxious to go back. Will definitely return to Pescara whenever in/near Rochester. This place is a gem!"

  • "Outstanding fish. I had the Bronzini and my wife had the SeaBass. Never a disappointing meal here. This is the best food Rochester has to offer."

  • "This restaurant has incredible food -- a great chef who's consistently good -- but the service is inconsistent. We were treated great a couple of times and terribly the next few times. They treat you especially well when they know you're spending $ (and we did!) but other times they couldn't care less -- no appreciation for return visitors. Hostesses are especially mediocre and doing guests a favor. Last visit we saw an older couple with a walker taken to the most difficult table to access when there were other, better tables available. The managers and two owners should should pay more attention if they want any return business."

  • "And special it was! Our compliments to the chef.....delicious way to serve this fish. The wild rice was excellent, and living in North Carolina, we do not get this good Minnesota dish. Lovely setting, good beverages, excellent service. We will be back, if possible. Thank you."

  • "This is my 3rd visit to Pescara. Some may say a little pricey but you get what you pay for and in Pescara's case it is true. Unique dishes, Gorgonzola home fries, the scallops, the fish, we didn't eat meat...everything was excellent!"
