Our server Darren was attentive and helpful and made the evening one to remember. It happens to be our wedding anniversary when when we are visiting the clinic so we choose Pescara to celebrate this special day and it never disappoints us! We will have fond memories of our special dinner until we return next time to create new ones!!"

  • "The lunch special menu is excellent and an unbelievable deal at $10! We have eaten there several times while in Rochester for Mayo ppointments. It is an upscale restaurant with excellent service and sophisticated decor. The crab cake/bisque lunch is top notch. Not a large portion/ but just right for midday. The sweet potato fries are the best anywhere. Construction outside the building makes me it a litle hard to find and blocks the windows, but you can also enter from the skyway."

  • "The atmosphere at this restaurant is pleasant...once you get past the construction. Signage for the temporary entrance is terrible. Drinks were served nicely, but the wine is extremely overpriced. Salad was good and French bread was fine, but only French bread is pretty unimaginative for a classy restaurant. My entre was just bad...very overcooked halibut. It was DRY. Unbelievable for a seafood place. My husband's lobster was ok, but not the special meal he had expected. We won't return."

  • "This is a seafood restaurant, yet their $35 halibut was so dry it was inedible. Thus, only a "fair" rating on food quality -- we expect much more for a restaurant billing itself as seafood. The chef was nice enough to create a vegetarian pasta, extra spicy, for us, which was outstanding. The hash browns and bread pudding were amazing, and the black bean soup was very good. The restaurant is inside the Doubletree Hotel, and would be fine except for the construction right outside the large windows. Server appeared to be a college student, so giving him a break on some minor waiter issues."

  • "Short version: Excellent local restaurant. Probably the best in town. Longer version: Four of us came in from out of town for a wedding and Pescara was recommended from the locals in the wedding party. Excellent - a nice pleasant surprise. Three of us had the fresh seafood, one a steak, and all were thumbs up. Nothing left on the plates and we are all not big people. The combo appetizer was very tasty. For you bread pudding lovers - leave room, it was one of the better ones we had for dessert. We travel extensively and Pescara would easily be 4.5 stars in any major city. Service from our waitress was outstanding. Yes we would go back, a nice local gem. On weekends you will need reservations."

  • "The restaurant scene has blown up in Rochester in the 16 years since I moved to the Twin Cities, and Pescara definitely stands out among all of the new restaurants! This was my second visit is a short time, and it is going to be hard to go anywhere else in Rochester. Both times, I had the lobster bisque, which I rarely order at restaurants because I make an awesome bisque at home. I am always disappointed with restaurant bisque, but Pescara's bisque did not disappoint and I would order it again. The salads are creative and well composed, as are the other appetizers I tasted. But above all, the fish! The fish could not have been cooked more perfectly, and the sauce choices are fabulous. I don't think you can have a bad meal here."

  • "My husband and I went to Pescara based on the outstanding reviews and wanting fresh fish for a very special celebration! We started with fresh oysters which were on the smaller side, but very tasty. The entrees were even better than we imagined. Walleye was spectacular, and I had the Linguine with shrimp, mussels, white fish in a delicate wine sauce. Fantastic service, ambience, and especially the service! Our waitress only had a few tables and she took extra care to make sure that we were well taken care of. Next time we are in Rochester, Pescara is a must on the list!"

  • "Coming to Rochester is made all the better by eating at this resturant. The seafood has always been fresh. The wait staff is knowledgeable and ready with personal recommendations (I like to ask them at any resturant as is gives me a clue if they are eating at the est they work for). On this visit I ordered an Ahi Tuna dish cooked med-rare. It was the thickest tuna steak I have ever had. At least an 1 inch thick. I look forward to my next visit to try something new. "

  • "We were so grateful, and impressed to have such a high level restaurant while in Rochester, Minnesota for nearly a week; and I think we ate here almost every night! Fish is the specialty and priced to reflect the quality of what the chef has sent in; so many ways it can be prepared for you! Sides are equally impressive! One night a special side was morels, small beets and ramps! It was delicious!!( I had as a side to the lovely scallops); wild rice risotto and asparagus another night; YUM, what a beautiful surprise!"

  • "I had an aveage meal at Pescara. After reading rave revies on Trip Advisor, my expectations were high. Although the service and ambience of the restaurant far exceed anything I have come to expect from restaurants in chain hotels, the food did not come through. I had the scallops, which my server told me had won the best seafood dish in Rochester for a number of years. That may be so, but my scallops were not particulalrly fresh, having a faint amonia smell to them, and they were over cooked. I had to be in La Crosse, WI the next night and had perfectly cooked, incredibly fresh scallops at Waterfront restaurant for a fraction of what Pescara charges. And Waterfront's service and ambince were even better."

  • "Visited Pescara again for another of many meals we've had there in the past. As always, Pescara's food is universally excellent. Service was as always uniformly slow (perhaps because it is so busy). This was the first time our group was seated on time for reservations, even on a busy Saturday night, which was a pleasant surprise. A bit expensive for Rochester and menu isn't necessarily "innovative" or "cutting edge" (nor does it change a lot) but the food is always excellent. Vibe is always buzzing even on weeknights- makes you think you are in Minneapolis. Rochester needs more restaurants like this! "

  • "This is one of my favorite restaurants! The food is always top notch and the best meals I have ever eaten! The bartender was very helpful in choosing my wine and pairing with my meal. I recommend the tuna tartar, wild mushroom risotto, risotto di mare, or a white fish (I chose Halibut) with the lemon burre blanc. This is the greatest restaurant in Rochester."

  • "We went to dinner here two nights during the past week. The restaurant deserves its reputation. The food from fish to steaks to appetizers to oysters was excellent. The wine list is limited and there really are no cheap bottles -- my only complaint. But I and my guests were delighted. The setting is very attractive, even in a Double-tree Hotel; the place was packed each night we were there."

  • "Pescara's reputation for fresh fish is well deserved, but the number of different combinations to prepare the same fish affords numerous variations for the same fish. The pan seared scallops with sweet chili sauce is just one variation of scallops I've enjoyed and I have yet to have the same dish twice. The halibut ceviche is to die for if you happen to be there when they have it as a special. During the same visit, we had a dessert special of croissant bread pudding which was rich, but light in texture. The wait staff is also very well versed in all of the dishes and they haven't been wrong yet in any recommendations they've given to us. Dinners can be expensive, but well worth it for food this good."

  • "It was our time at Pescara and it was sublimely wonderful. Our threesome order the scallops, grilled salmon and the halibut, all were superbly prepared and presented. It was nice to dine at a place where the kitchen knows what they sre doing. The service was attentive without being obtrusive. Our server was knowledgeable and informative. We didn't have room to try the desserts, just another reason return. The only question we had after dining was, why we hadn't tried Pescara before. "

So accommodating and so delicious. Chock full of meaty crab, scallop, lobster and shrimp. Easily my favorite restaurant in Rochester. I try to go there whenever I visit."

  • "the waiter sold me on the fresh Alaskan halibut, flown in daily. it was indeed a delicious piece of fish, but $35 was a bit much. we probably won't come back for dinner. the brunch is quite good too and more reasonable. we had the mussels appetizers both times, and it was delicious. it wouldn't be a good place for kids, even well-behaved ones."
