Much to our chagrin, it has been taken off the menu. Luckily, stellar service and delicious food, kept us happy! I had the crab cakes and whipped bacon mashed potatoes with corn which was really delicious! No filler on the crab cake, and a little bland but very good. My husband had tilapia and he loved it! Ice tea was really tasty! We were so happy to have this experience because last time here, the waiter misplaced our credit card for about 20 minutes and was less than apologetic! It was an instant hit with her. She loves bouillabaise and believed one could not find one in the area that compares with those in her favorite Paris restaurants. She now has. She was also impressed with the wine selection and the cappucccino. I had the tuna tartare salad and thought that it was excellent. My colleague had the clam chowder (which I also tasted and thought it was excellent) along with a salad which she enjoyed. I think they remodeled just to generate more noise. We went there when they remodeled to lessen the noise. The noise was so bad we wouldn't consider going with friends as we couldn't make conversation with each other. As a confessed foodie, I hold restaurants to high standards and am not generous with "rave reviews." We took my mother here for a Mother's Day dinner and I was beyond pleased and impressed. From the wine list to the quality of the entrees I could not have been more pleased. My only minor complaint is that the tables are rather close together, but I can't blame them for trying to accommodate the demand they must encounter. You get superb food for the price you pay and the experience seemed very personable and individualized. I cannot wait to return. Everyone loved their meal and likely would have licked their plates if it were socially acceptable. Although the row of tables leading to the rear has been replaced by booths and a bar (and possibly redesigned kitchen), I don't really see why the new decor took so long. The ambiance seems the same, still slightly noisier than I like - but then we go to Persimmon mainly for the food. The chairs and especially the booths could use some cushions. The place seems more spacious, with a lovely relaxed ambience, inventive food, and reasonable prices. As an appetizer, the portobello and bleu cheese ravioli were... interesting: not a combo I'd considered before (nor am likely to consider again), but definitely different. I ordered the special, fresh-caught rockfish atop a veggie melange with bits of shrimp in a saffron sauce, and was more than pleasantly surprised -- better to say pleasurably amazed! My sister raved over the arugula salad with roasted cherry tomatoes, artichokes, shaved ricotta and shrimp; they were happy to grill the shrimp at her request. The person I went with ordered the branzino fish special and it looked absolutely AMAZING. I ordered the wasabi-crusted oyster and a Caesar salad. The oysters were delish, but were sitting in a soy saucy liquid that just didn't seem to go with a crispy oyster crust. The Caesar salad was not good, I must admit. The dressing was too heavy and there was just too much of it. I would give 5 stars for my friend's meal, plus our shared profiteroles. I would give a 3 1/2-4 stars for the oysters in a soupy relish and a 1 star for my Caesar salad.

The mussels would have been excellent had there been a little more garlic in the sauce. Nevertheless, we miss the tuna entree that was available before the restaurant underwent renovations. The wine list is short, but well chosen and reasonably priced.
