A word from Persepolis
Persepolis Is a Persian/ Mediterranean restaurant with a dynamic atmosphere and 20 years of experience! The restaurant is famous for verity of kebabs and refreshing salads and gently spiced grilled meats. The yogurt and cucumber blended with a little mint is made exceedingly well and is an ideal
cool compliment to Persepolis’ rounds of Pita & Barbari bread. Our kebabs which include moist and delicious salmon or saffron chicken are served without heavy sauces. Instead they are served with a choice of four rices including an intriguing blend of Basmati rice and marinated sour cherries. Our personalized wine list truly compliments our cuisine. We also offer a full classic bar.
We look forward to seeing you!

Just great tasting food. Would
highly recommend the cherry rice, that's enough to bring someone there alone."

Love the food. Cherry rice is the
best!! Close to our children so love going. Haven't had a bad meal here. Will be back"

Delicious, well prepared
appetizers. We enjoyed two different styles of chicken that were outstanding and the rice accompaniment was divine. Good cocktails and wine choices, really good coffee and desserts. We dined early and there were only a few other tables occupied, service was excellent. We will certainly return."

Had a very tasty lunch here. It
was quiet and we were seated right at the front of the restaurant. Had a trio of fresh salads to start, then the Taj Kabob combination - juicy chicken and lamb, which came with a wonderful citrus and almond rice. Looking forward to eating here again. It was solidly good, classic Persian food."

Nice atmosphere, fast and friendly
service, and the food was excellent. Would gladly go back!"

Took my wife here for Valentine's
Day, experience was great. We shared the eggplant trio as an appetizer and the wait staff was great about refilling our bread. The baby lamb barg was delicious, meat was excellently cooked and juicy, got it with the polo baghali. My wife had the khoresht gaimeh badamjan with polo shirin. Both tasted great, and we got to hold on to the eggplant appetizer (since we didn't finish it before our entrees came out, only because it's a large portion for two people), went great with our rice. Timing of appetizer and entrees was great, delicious food."

The food is consistently good and
the people who work at Persepolis are affable and courteous. I will definitely go there again and would recommend Persepolis to friends and family."
Dined on 2/4/2014
The food was plentiful. The wait
staff quite pleased to explalin to you what the several dishes were, as well as make recommendations to those who weren't sure what they wanted."
Dined on 1/28/2014
...and the service is
good/pleasant, but I will keep going back for the saffron chicken."
Dined on 1/26/2014
Very energetic atmosphere and very
popular local restaurant. As we are staying in the city with a sick relative, we have gone to many local restaurants. We went back here two nights in a row to enjoy the Cornish hens kabobs. Make a reservation and don't try to have to much conversation. Good service."

My husband and I dined at
Persepolis this past week and it was a very nice experience. The service was excellent and the food delicious with generous portions. This is a delightful restaurant though I would hesitate to bring young children here. The only suggestion I would make is to play soft music. There was none and the background noise, although not too loud, was simply diners conversations. In a less than full restaurant, the lack of background music is noticeable. We hope to return someday and enjoy another wonderful meal."

Very impressed. Delicious home
made fare. Extermely generous portions and service. Thank you. We will be back."
Dined on 1/25/2014
Food is absolutely delicious and
authentic. The spices/flavor are wonderful! The staff is welcoming and friendly. Great value too."
Dined on 1/17/2014
Good. Lamb chops. The shared app.
for three was too much food, which was meant for three, not four."
Dined on 1/18/2014
Everything I ate here was
meticulously prepared; every single element of the dishes was thoughtful and well-executed. Almost everything was delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful, if a little distracted and overwhelmed. The clientele of Iranians attests to the authenticity of this place."
Dined on 1/18/2014
We were 4 , arrived 15 mins early
and was seated right away.. The service was slow, but rushed..this is not a lingering place.. The food was good and different for us.. We had the waiter suggest what to order and it was good.. They need to slow it down, while everything was good it just.seemed the waiters were so hurried...and forgetful.. Had to ask several times for bread, water, knives,, etc.. There was no specific waiter for our table other than the one who took our order and disappeared ... Just several bus boys passing and rushing by.. Could have been really good if not for that..!"
Dined on 1/18/2014
This restaurant is not bad, but
dinner here will excite you neither with the food nor the decor. If you live nearby, it is a reasonable choice for a weekday meal out."
Dined on 1/17/2014
We were headed to see the show
"Iran Modern" at the Asia Society when I got the idea to dine at Persepolis. It was great! The food was wonderful, and the prices were excellent. We will go back again!"
Dined on 1/5/2014
One of the best Persian
restaurants in NYC. Fresh and well prepared food in lovely setting with attentive service."
Dined on 12/31/2013
Persian food is delicious, and
Persepolis is a fantastic spot to enjoy every bite. The trio of eggplant dips as an appetizer is to die for, all the kebabs are top quality, the lamb chops and stews (koresh) are top notch. Also try the "torchi" (vinegar pickled vegetables), they are a great accompaniment to, well, everything. I love this place! Plus there is always enough for doggy bags and this food is just as tasty warmed up. *swoon*"
Dined on 11/20/2013
Everything else was fine except
was rushed through the meal. Was eating the app when they brought out the food! Had to leave the app half way!"
Dined on 12/13/2013
Stopped in for a quick lunch
before visiting the Frick. They offer a select menu with tantalizing options and attentive service. All the dishes were flavorful and satisfying. With the high ceilings and open space, our conversation remained private. The gracious service rounded out the meal."
Dined on 11/15/2013
This was our first experience at
Persepolis and we were very pleased with the excellent service and wonderful food. The humus, however was just ok but the grape leaves were fabulous. Our entrees were excelllent as were the desserts. We throughly enjoyed the Rose Ice Cream. We will certainly make a return visit. and bring our friends."

Great food. I come here about
twice a year and the food has always been phenomenal. The sour cherry rice is amazing and Ialways get it. But this review us about the service. I took a date here and we were having a great time, dinner took us almost 5 hours! We were talking and laughing the entire time! (we obviously hit it off!). They kept refilling our waters and left us alone, giving us our privacy. Didn't even give me the bill untill I asked for it. This was on a busy weekend night, too. I'm sure they could easily have asked us to leave and figuring how long we were there, i wouldn't have blamed them. But they didn't, and I'm very thankful for it. I did leave a nice tip."
Dined on 11/24/2013
Hummas, Beet Salad with feta
cheese were yummy! Sirloin/eggplant stew was tasty, but short on the sirloin, as was steak entree. Baklava was the BEST we ever had! Would definately return to sample other appealing entrees for which they probably excel..........like lamb, fish or chicken"
Dined on 11/23/2013
Food was less than inspiring, just
ok. It was a nice change of pace, but don't expect too much from this restaurant."
Dined on 11/16/2013
The food was really good, I had
the stew with walnuts and pomegranate with basmati rice and favs beans and I could have licked the bowl clean. Service was a little too attentive, as soon as I took a drink of water they were there to fill my glass. This seemed like I was being monitored. I don't want my glass to be empty but refilling after every sip is a little too much care. Highly recommend."

Went to Persepolis with 4
colleagues. Asked for a round table so we could talk - & that's just what we got! We started with appetizer & salad tasting - 4 appetizers, 4 salads - and also ordered the beet salad with yogurt. Moved on to the Khoresht Fesenjan, the Khoresht Badamjan and the Grilled Jumbo Shrimp with 3 different rice dishes. Everything was very good, service was friendly and efficient but not rushed, and restaurant was quiet that night so our group had a very nice visit. I will definitely be back for more."

We have been there before and it
is always a treat to return. We were a group of seven and we were seated in the back and were tended after at all times. Food was excellent. Most of us had one of their lamb dishes and they were cooked to perfection. Appetizers were plentiful and very good to share with each other. Restaurant is recommended for dinner"
Dined on 11/8/2013
The food from appetizers through
dessert was excellent and the service was outstanding. Our waitress was very conscientious, seemed like a family run place. They seemed to really want you to enjoy your dining experience. Tasting appetizers were generous as well as the entrees. Delicious sour cherry rice!"

Persepolis provides an unrivaled
dining experience! My friends were running late, coming from outside NYC. The hotess checked up on me a few times and was pleasant, not at all annoyed. I ordered a cocktail while waiting and got tipsy since my stomach was empty. I mentioned that to the hostess as I declined a refill and she was kind enough to bring me a whole tray of bread. Once my friends arrived and we all ordered, our food came promptly and everything was well-flavored and delectable. The meat was also so tender that one of my friends described it as melting like butter in your mouth. Despite the late arrival of my party, we were not rushed out the door; we had a terrific meal - a truly unrivaled dining experience!"

I meant to reserve at a different
restaurant, but chose this one by accident. It was a lucky mistake. The food was fresh and delicious. It is a great neighborhood place but also worth a trip. The servers a little forgetful, but overall fine."

Great atmosphere, food and
service. Wait staff was awesome."

A warm welcome from the attentive
head-waiter and his team made our small group feel instantly at home in this small and charming restaurant. What to choose? Entrees range from the more traditional kebab-style dinners, chicken, or fish, to more unusual fare such as the shredded chicken stew with walnuts and pomegranate, accompanied by rice with sour cherries or rice with dill and fava beans...hmmm. The waiter was helpful in suggesting suitable pairings and quickly affirmed that we could happily share the 3-eggplant appetizer. A light red wine from Anjou proved just the thing to set off the flavors of the food. The bill was reasonable and the whole experience so pleasant that we're already planning a return visit."

Everything we had was delicious. I
ordered the Caspian, mistakenly thinking it was saffron chicken and chicken kubideh (ground chicken kabob). When my plate arrived with saffron chicken and ground sirloin kebab I asked the waiter what I had received. After he explained what I had ordered, I proceeded to eat my meal, and was taken by surprise when a complimentary ground chicken kabob arrived at the table. Although the saffron chicken was on the dry side, both kebabs were delicious, tender, and tasty, as was my husband's eggplant/bean stew. We were full, and took home leftovers, but were curious about dessert and ordered baklava and grilled pineapple w/rose ice cream. The baklava was an ample portion, served warm, and melted in our mouths."

My wife and i love this place.
It''s always our 1st stop every time we get to NYC. It's second to my mom's persian cooking and that's a huge compliment coming from someone who is a professional culinarian. My favorite is the Gourmet Sabzi with the Sour Cherry Rice & their tomato and cucumber salad. The prices are great to for the quality of dishes that you receive. My wife and I look forward to our next visit."

neighborhood restaurant. We have been dining and lunching at Persepolis for more than 15 years and we are always struck by its consistent quality, value, and friendly professionalism of its staff. We love its egg plant starters and especially its delicious and special stews matched with the different types of rice dishes. As Baklava connoisseurs we think that Persepolis' Baklava is one of the very best in NYC."

Humus, babaganoush ME dishes on
another level--Persian. All delicious. Three rice choices. Grilled dishes are served with rice and grilled tomatoes, Stews are delicious. Rose flavored ice cream. Divine baklava. Wonderful ambiance and service. The Ash at sister restaurant, Shalezeh is wonderful and I'm sure it's also wonderful at Persepolis. Delighted to find Alpha Omega wine, too. Loved our dinner (second time there). Will go back again and again."

The most wonderful food.
Absolutely delicious and excellent value!"

This is the best Persian
restaurant in NYC. Kababs, appetizers, and desserts are very delicious, and very persian style! The stews can be better. I tried all Persian restaurants in NYC, and find Persepolis as the best one. I tried this restaurant several times. This time, we were a group of colleagues. The owner is very generous. The waiter brought a collection of appetizers and some desserts on the house! I really appreciated it."
