This is my 4th visit to this fine establishment of one of the best chefs in the Midwest if not the country. Steve Comes from England, yet brings middle eastern flair to his exquisite dishes. His side dishes of potato croquettes covered in pecan, and mushrooms in a sauce that made me moan in sheer delight. The deserts are to die for, The Queens favorite, the symphony, and a chocolate lovers dream ,are amongst my favorites. This lovely restaurant is nestled in the fine town of Galena, IL. Dinner here is worth a 3 hour trip from Chicago. Get late reservations, and you may be lucky enough to chat with the man himself after all the cooking is done. He is a very sweet and down to earth man. Hurry though, he is retiring in 2 years.

The food was outstanding. Our server was very attentive without being obtrusive. Veal broth soup with herb crepe and asiago was very good. Would have given 5 stars for service except for the last five minutes as we were finishing our coffee and desert and a second server who had not been at our table arrived and asked us to leave the restaurant because another group needed our table. Not indicative af a full 5 star establishment.

When we go to Galena we make a point to eat at Perry Street. My only issue...the owner/chef will be retiring in the next couple of years and I will have to find a new favorite place. If you are in Galena and do not avail yourself of the opportunity to eat here...it's your fault.

What an adorable restaurant which all in all is slightly larger than my kitchen and dinette area at home, including the dining area and bar. Obviously I recommend reservations considering this is the number one restaurant currently on trip advisor and has about 10 tables all together. The specials were unique and delicious and the desserts were all homemade. We tried the creme brulee and a dark chocolate/whipped something that was especially good. I am a bit of a foodie, at least I want a place with something other than fried chicken and a sirloin steak and this place fit the bill over and beyond. It is on the pricier side but worth what we paid.

My husband and I were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. The general manager at the place where we were staying recommended Perry Street to be the best place in town to eat and celebrate our special day. She was right! We have nothing but praise for Perry Street. The food was perfect as was the ambiance, and our darling waitress, Heather! We received complimentary glasses of port to help us celebrate. We would most definitely recommend Perry Street to our friends and will most certainly be back. Thanks to the wonderful staff at Perry Street - each and every one of them!

I asked my husband what was his favorite part of our trip to Galena and he answered, "dinner at Perry Street." A small restaurant with interesting medieval décor, the food here was outstanding. Do not miss the St. Lucia special! It was a unique blend of sweet and spicy without too much heat. The pecan-crusted potato croquettes could be a meal by themselves. The small chocolate cup desert was delicious and decadent...yet just the right size. Wait staff was friendly and down to earth, they genuinely wanted us to enjoy our dining experience. Chef even came out for a chat after dinner. We found the entire experience friendly, charming, and delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant.

This was our 8th trip to Perry Street Brasserie and it is still our favorite restaurant. The menu varies with multiple items from seafood, steaks, chops, duck, etc. Side dishes are as great as the entrees. We love the Pecan Encrusted Garlic Potato Croquettes. These "potato balls" are amazing enough on their own, but the wonderful sauce they bask in is quite tasty itself. My meal was Kobe beef steak (which was butterflied beautifully into two pieces) and a large piece of andouille sausage. It included side veggies and wild rice, but of course I ordered a side of the "potato balls". Everyone in our 6 person group was beyond satisfied with all of their meals and we still ate all 6 desserts as well. Gluttonous? Sure, but completely worth it!

The menu wasn't extravagant, but the choices were difficult as everything sounded amazing. We each got a great glass of wine, and shared an appetizer of smoked salmon and smoked trout. The serving of trout was amazing, but a little lacking in quantity. I ordered the veal, and my wife ordered the duck breast. Both meals were wonderful. The owner then came and was talking to us about how he had gotten all of his beautiful brass pieces that he has, and told us about the one that was directly above my head. He was very personable and friendly. He went over the desserts, and were able to choose one. The only complaint was the couple a few tables away, who brought their rowdy 3 year old daughter to their anniversary dinner.

Went there on our anniversary. It was the middle of the week, so it was not crowded. Service was good. The menu was impressive and the food outstanding. Since it was slow, the chef/owner came out and chatted with us. Told us some great stories. Recommended the dessert special which was fantastic. I'd certainly go back if I had a chance.

We were visiting from out of town, and Perry Street Brasserie is awesome. From the oysters to the soup to the entrees to the dessert (the chocolate cup is to die for), our meal was outstanding. I had the duckling breast and lamb kebab in a tropical fruit chutney; it was sublime. I've never tasted duck that was this good. The other member of the party had the special, which was lobster, shrimp, and scallops St. Lucia, which was in a white wine, curry, coconut milk, and mango chutney sauce. This was also fantasitc. Our server, I believe her name is Heather, had a wonderful personality and her great service truly enhanced our experience. We met the owner/chef and I have to say he is a culinary artist. We will definitely return!

When my wife and I go to what we are told is a gourmet restaurant we have certain expectations. Price is not an issue if the quality and presentation of the food is pleasing. Perry Street was less than our expectations. We found a wonderful bottle of wine.... and 5 minutes later were informed that the restaurant was out of that. Didn't the waiter already know that? My wife's French onion soup was watery and the cheese - which did not appear to be gruyere - was sticky and clumpy. My main course was overcooked. We passed on dessert as we had no confidence. The meal would have been great for Applebees..... but that is not what we expected.

The sous chef was called in to cook on Friday night as the chef was unable to work. The sous chef did a fine job with my St Lucia special (scallop, shrimp and lobster served in a yellow curry broth). My husband enjoyed his kobe steak with foie gras and duck sausage. We started with the appetizer sampler and ended with the carrot cake dessert. Everything was very good except dessert. The cake had more spice than I would expect in a carry cake, and the frosting was more of a buttercream than cream cheese, which I would have preferred. The cocktails were creative and the wine list was diverse. Overall, a solid choice for dinner.

While judging this quaint little restaurant as I walked in, I didn't realize the exquisite dining experience that was to come. I selected this place based on OpenTable reviews and I am so happy I went. It is easily the best restaurant for foodies in Galena. Loved every part of my meal, including a fantastic dessert. This place reminds me of some of the small flavorful restaurants off Venice Beach in CA. I will always make reservations for Perry Street Brasserie when I am in Galena.

Fantastic service! All servers were friendly, well informed about the menu, attentive but not intrusive. Food what very good - what I'd expect at $30+ entrees. Wine service needs improvement. I would expect glasses of at least Riedel restaurant grade and what I got was Libby style glassware. Wine filled to the rim on white flutes and over halfway on red wines. No possibility to swirl! Time to upgrade!

Did not care for the breaded salmon, never had salmon that was breaded before. Did not choose another dish because many were served in a sauce on top of rice, etc. My husband and I both like items separate with no sauce. Caesar salad was limp. Ambiance was nice and staff was very friendly, but I personally did not care for menu options and service was a bit slow.

Our latest dining experience was wonderful. The restaurant is charming, the service professional and friendly. Chef Steve is always putting a new twist on the preparation of staples like filets of beef, pork chops, tuna and vegetarian dishes. Wednesday night the special was Cobia from the Gulf. My husband and I thought we were in Florida not the Midwest. Desserts are fantastic and there is something for chocolate lovers or those who want just something sweet to end the experience. The Creme Brûlée will make you want to return to Galena as soon as possible! This restaurant is a "must go to" for those who love to dine.
