A word from Perry St
Join us for NYC Restaurant Week 2014 starting July 21st through August 16th. We will be offering a $25 three-course lunch and $38 three-course dinner on Monday through Friday and on Sunday evenings during this period.

Chef Jean-Georges brings relaxed elegance to the West Village with Perry St, which opened in 2005 and has been awarded three stars by the New York Times.
Jean-Georges’ son, Cedric Vongerichten, helms the kitchen, creating dishes that reflect his own keen instinct for balancing flavor and texture with an exquisite blend of French, American, and Asian influences and ingredients. The menu is inspired by the season, centering on the local market at Union Square.
Diner Reviews
  • "Managed to get a prime time reservation. Service and food were impeccable. Presentations were creative and the food had perfect balance of flavors. I will go back for sure. Just the room itself was a class act."

  • "Dear Richard: Have you ever heard of a product called 'accoustical ceiling'? It comes in many different forms and types, some of them can be used in a seamless installation. If you like haute cuisine with an edgy touch - and don't mind to shout to have a conversation with someone sitting across from you - this is the right place to go. Oh, and a state-of-the-art mechanical room in the basement might not be a good idea for any building along the Hudson River. Sandbags everywhere a year after Sandy? Com'on, Richard.....!"

  • "We're big Jean Georges people and we constantly go to all of his restaurants. We decided to move from ABC Kitchen to Perry Street for a weekend brunch, and we were sorely disappointed. The ambience is dated, and the place just looks very old and tired. On top of that, for weekend brunch, there were literally two tables in the entire restaurant, and they still felt the need to sit us a table that was so small we could barely move. Once we got past that, we ordered a pastry basket that came out with pastries that literally tasted as though they were a week old. The smoked salmon I ordered was completely dry, and it was evident that it wasn't fresh at all. My girlfriends eggs came out looking like gelatin. Not real eggs. Horrific experience."

  • "Ambiance was warm but not overly friendly. That is, you weren't interrupted unnecessarily. My friend was 30 minutes late and I chose not to have a drink while waiting and didn't feel the least bit judged. I had the pea soup which was presented nicely and didn't skimp on the cream - yum! And then my friend and I both had the lobster which was just perfect. I hesitate to try having lobster anywhere for near certain knowledge that it won't measure up! I hope to go back for another special occasion."

  • "Service was really quite bad and the tables near the bar made it impossible to have a conversation with four people at a square table"

  • "This is the second time I have been surprised by the fact that although they produce wonderful food in the kitchen, they never quite seem to get their acts together with the service. 3 examples. 1. As we sat down the bread plate had a not small item caked on it from the dishwasher. 2. Several times our wine glasses sat empty as I looked for someone to bring us the rest of the bottle. 3. At the end of the entree, the wait staff crumples up the paper place mats right at the table we while we are chatting. None of this is that bad, but it seems out of sync with the quality of the food which is very good."

  • "The decor feels a little like a hotel lobby but the food and service are phenomenal."

  • "I took 2 friends to Perry Street for lunch. The food was perfection, the staff was friendly...outstanding service. An oasis of culinary pleasure!"

  • "I can't say enough about Perry Street. The food was delicious and inventive. The service was impeccable. Best calamari app I've had. The black sea bass was perfecly cooked and accompanied by a hen of the wood mushroom that brought out even more flavor from the bass. I recommend the ginger margarita with a spice salted rim. Wow!"

  • "We tried Perry St. for the first time and were absolutely blown away by the food - one of the best meals we have had living in Manhattan for years. The fried calamari was especially memorable, but everything was delicious. Service was amazing as well. Strongly recommend for date night. Be aware that it is pricey, but worth it!"

  • "Caught an early dinner over the holiday weekend and overall a very enjoyable meal. Tuna Sashimi appetizer was amazing. Everything else was innovative, delicious and fresh. Will definitely return."

  • "Jean-Georges does it again!! Stylish, comfortable restaurant with delicious, perfectly prepared comfort food that is not inexpensive but worth every penny. Other than a delay in getting our waiter's attention at the start of the meal, the evening was just right."

  • "Perry Street is a beautiful restaurant with delicious food. Beware - VERY spicy - and not so noted or advised. I like spicy, but it permeated every dish, which I thought a bit odd. We all loved the food, but those with mild food preferences will be quite surprised....."

  • "Had a family Sunday brunch there. We all ordered the 3-course set menu. I ordered the calamari fritti for appetizer. The batter was fluffy and crispy. The airy & foamy dipping sauce was such a delight. It had a hint of mint and lime, creamy but very light. I would rate it the best sauce for calamari fritti! The steak tartare ordered by other members of the party was seasoned to almost perfection. Slow-cooked Scottish salmon was well cooked to medium as ordered. The sauce was light and balanced with multi-dimensional flavors and a spicy chilli kick. The finishing desert was the delicious classic Chocolate Fondant cake with vanilla ice cream."

  • "We loved our meal at Perry Street in the glow of the late afternoon sun. From the burrata to the calamari to the butter poached lobster every morsel was deliciously drenched in layers of flavors. Our servers were friendly and attentive while providing helpful descriptions of many of the offerings. This is one of our family favorites for special occasions. Followed up with a walk along the High Line to digest...a perfect evening."

  • "A really delicious menu. The crusted tuna is outstanding. The egg & caviar dish is a bit too bland. It is definitely overpriced so I wouldn't eat there regularly. It is sadly REALLY empty for brunch, lunch and early dinner. It was fun & packed on a Friday evening though."

  • "From the setting, decor, service and menu, Perry St. always delivers. Best of all, they have a no attitude, friendly and accommodating staff. One of our top choices for any occasion or just a nice dinner together during the week."

  • "Tuna crust, snapper sashimi, lobster with lemongrass. Sounds Asian? It is western with touches of Asian cooking and perfumes. Good wine selection."

  • "i found the food at this restaurant to be better than Jean Georges and Nougatine. Please be advised the restaurant is under construction! So you are looking out into a construction zone. It's very pretty inside the restaurant though. The service was very good. The food was fresh and well prepared."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "Still some construction going on all around outside due to Hurricane Sandy (a year later). Not easy to spot as it is in a more residential area and blends in with the condo building. Anyway, the fried chicken was indeed the best! We would go back."

  • "Modern, sleek, innovative menu. Great presentation and great tasting food. My husband loves the chicken with scotch bonnet sauce - and he is quite picky. Fantastic rice cracker crusted tuna appetizer. And great chocolate pudding with the candied violets."

  • "the room is gorgeous w/generously spaced tables so we aren't on top of each other. had a reservation for party of 8 & told them when we arrived we would be only 7 & they fumbled resetting table appropriately. overly long pauses between being seated, placing drink orders, drink orders arriving, placing dinner order, dinner arriving, clearing table, taking dessert orders, dessert arriving, getting check, paying check. at these prices one doesn't expect 2 have 2 look for waiter. appetizer of day "champagne mango salad" was spectacular. softshelledcrab was crisp but coating washeavy. salmon entrée was delicious & perfect. we liked the fried chicken. strawberry shortcake dessert was terrific as were profiteroles & all others were ordinary"

  • "The staff was extremely nice and the food was amazing. We went anticipating get the tasting menu, but changed our minds and ordered off the menu. We started with an amazing (hot) pea soup that was garden fresh, with a contrasting foam, and perfect (tiny) crunchy sourdough croutons. We also ordered a rice cracker tuna appetizer that was just wonderful (a little upscale sushi). My daughter had the Perry Street fried chicken that was a bit spicy, but wonderful and moist, and I tried the butter poached lobster which I had heard about, but had never tried. However, the amazing ending was the simple, but wonderful chocolate pudding with candied violets. The staff was warm, friendly, present, but unobtrusive and very accommodating!"

  • "Went here once before about a year ago and loved it. But both my wife and I remember the food being better than it was this go-around. Not sure why, just was better last time. Might still go again, as the prices are reasonable for the level of dining experience."

  • "Evidently still suffering from the external damage by Sandy, but the interior is well designed, the service was very attentive and the food was fantastic. I had the pea soup, the fried chicken and the chocolate cake - for lunch that's $28 which is an absolute steal. Mix with the lunch wine choice ($20 Rioja Blanc) and you have a superb and filling lunch. 5*"

  • "went with a bunch of friends for taste of spring, well worth it. will be interested to try their a la carte next time. - Quail egg croquette on steak tartar was a genius touch. - a refined version of Fried chicken was interesting and delicious. Flavor got less complex and boring after a few bits, could have some sort of sweet puree or element in there to compliment the fried/crisp nature of this dish. - Chocolate molten cake didn't disappoint Good overall."

  • "The experience started out really well. Delicious mango salad. Homemade burrata that had excellent flavor but could have been creamier. The fried chicken I had could have been shoe leather...it felt that tough in my mouth. My husband's seafood looked and tasted very good though. Not a place that would draw me back. "

  • "Perry St exceeded my expectations. The cheese ball amuse bouche melted in the mouth. Rice cracker crusted tuna was a nice riff on sushi. The asparagus salad was fresh, and light. Black sea bass cooked perfectly with delicious crust and went well with Maitake mushroom. The grilled lamb was delicious, served with a spicy pea puree. The chocolate pudding wasn't too sweet, though I didn't need the candied violets. They have an good, curated wine list: the Dierberg chardonnay was a great by-the-glass choice, and there were reasonable Sancerres and Graves options, a handful of New World and a range of Bordeaux choices. Great service, nice decor, and every dish hit the spot - couldn't ask for more. I'll be back."

The wait staff and hostesses couldn't have been more accommodating. The Perry Street staff made a special night even more memorable. By the way, he food was superb!"

  • "We ordered the the $28 spring lunch with 3 courses. The entree and dessert were quite skimpy, more like a restaurant week menu, which also consists of 3 courses. The trendier the restaurant the smaller the portions are for the restaurant week lunches. Was disappointed with the salmon dish as it was not cooked through. A small piece was left and they took it back to kitchen and cooked it more. There was so little left, it really did not pay to return it. Also, very hot and spicy, for some reason, and salmon is usually bland. The hostess said she is giving us a quiet table, but it was the last table on the floor and there was a constant stream of customers using the rest rooms that were very near our table. It was not in good taste. "
