  • "We love this place. Second time there. Great food. Parking is quite an issue. We had to pay $20 for a spot :("

  • "I've been to Perla's twice and it gets better and better. The waitstaff is very knowledgeable about everything on the menu, listen to whatever they tell you to order! The atmosphere is hip and vibrant, but still high class and romantic. The outdoor dining is one of a kind, where people watching becomes an art. The food is fresh and filling, and those hushpuppies are amazing! Parking can be found in a garage behind the restaurant, bring your ticket in to have it validated. Make a reservation, eat here ASAP!"

  • "my wife and I had a very nice evening. On a busy Friday night service was prompt, and not rushed. The quality of the drinks and food was very high. A very good place for fish. I was surprised they had Clams at their raw bar. Two suggestions regarding customer service - do not overfill the water glasses - it is not necessary to keep topping off the water glass when it is 1 inch down. Secondly the waiter kept moving the silverware to the "correct" location on the table ( I move the silverware to the left side out of my way ). When a couple are having a conversation do not stick your arm across their face. On a positive note - when I politely told the busboy not to fill my glass anymore he stopped without comment."

  • "Superb food as well as service. Portions were on the small side but extremely well executed. Fried oysters were large and plump. Escolar was excellent but very small serving."

  • "We always enjoy Perla's, and this time was no exception. My wife had the Wreckfish and our guest and I had the Escolar. Three for dinner, $160 + tip. Portions seemed small, nothing extra on the plate except for "herb salad", which seemed to be some greens spread over the entree. It was good, but it'll probably be a while before we return."

  • "Whenever we have house guests visiting us in Austin, Perla's is our dining choice. After a tour of the Capital building, Sixth Street and the University of Texas, we always spend our evening at Perla's. We have never been disappointed. The food, the service and the ambience are just fantastic. Perla's is an ideal choice to demonstrate to our guests the very special "flavor" of Austin."

  • "I would recommend the wood grilled oysters. They are the 2nd best oysters I've had (1st being in New Orleans). Very nice smoky flavor with a little spice. I also enjoyed my French toast. Unfortately my husband did not like his meal the steak ranchero. It was horribly over cooked and chewy. He informed the waiter which didn't resolve the issue. Also slow to refill drinks.. Not sure that we will go back."

  • "Unfortunately this is one of the only places in Austin to have good seafood. My husband enjoyed his meal. Mine was ok, but certainly not great for the price. The place is very loud and the table arrangement makes it hard to hear your partner. The drink menu is very strange and the few drinks we tried were not good."

  • "My family and I had been looking forward to dining at Perla's for some time. It had pretty good handicap access. We're really big oyster fans and asked the waitress for details, she was pretty clueless, not able to recommend. Regardless, our oysters were delicious and fresh, but quite pricey averaging $20 per 1/2 dozen. For dinner, we asked for help with gluten free options and received the same clueless answers. Playing it safe, we ordered fresh fish simply grilled and received plates complete with breaded tomatoes. Not so gluten free. All fish dishes were fairly mediocre in preparation. We decided we could see coming back to sit on the patio, sip a glass of wine, and enjoy magic hour, but would give it a pass when it came to dinner."

  • "The quality of the seafood was beyond reproach. Really fresh. We had a variety of items and everything was delicious. The service was outstanding. Really knowledgeable staff/waiter. On the 'down side' I felt like our dinner was rushed and we were seated in a booth next to the kitchen with the restaurant was half full (we had reservations). I would prefer to sit on the deck next... better atmosphere."

  • "Simply put - our favorite seafood spot. Oysters are ridiculously fresh. Dishes are fantastic. Service is just right. Go once and you'll be hooked."

  • "My husband and I were visiting Austin, TX and had the opportunity to dine at Perla's. Weather was ideal for the outdoor patio at front of restaurant but reservations only valid for inside (and wait was an hour plus for outside) so we dined in. Table location not the greatest but there was space between the tables (something you NEVER see in Manhattan) and the service was very attentive. That being said, it was the food that made this restaurant one that I would revisit if ever in south Austin again. It was simply the freshest, most delicious seafood we have had in a great while and we are seafood eaters! Worth trying!"

  • "We had a good time. My foodie parents came in from Houston to celebrate my birthday and they loved the food. My aunt and uncle were there, as well, and ate every bite on their plate. So, we had a good time. The service was good and the amibience was lively."

  • "zomg, the food was amazing! All the guests were complimenting on my good find for a great seafood spot. I had heard about Perla's for ahwile, just hadn't made it down yet. It lived up to the hype. Great food! I had the Lobster bucatini (paste like dish) that had all the deliciousness of lobster, with a spicy kick to it from the chili flakes. The only small negative was the lobster pasta i had came with the lobster in pieces, but still mostly in the shell. It was a dirty job getting the lobster out of the shells, taking me 3-5 minutes before I could start eating. Had to answer for a shell cracker and hand towels to wipe my hands; that come with it standard... or just have the dish without the shells. All in all, great food!"

  • "Everything was perfect for our birthday evening out except for the bus boys. While our server stuck around and answers our numerous questions without seeming at all annoyed and was able to accommodate all of our requests, our dinner was frequently interrupted by the bus boys hovering over our table. We started joking that they must be on commission with how many dirty dishes they could pick up because they would just stand at our table scanning all of the dishes to see if any were empty. This happened all night long. It wasn't just a short glance as they walked by; they stood, stared, and hovered - even interrupting conversations to ask multiple times if we were finished. Even when we had forks in our mouths!"

  • "My wife has had Perla on her mind for some time and the occasion of her birthday seemed to be a great fit. We had reservations, arrived early, and asked to seated outdoors which turned out to be available. Our waitperson, Austin, was excellent and provided outstanding service throughout the meal. We shared a half dozen oysters and we both had fish entrees. In a word...outstanding! My halibut and her sea bass were exceptional but the highlight of the meal was the wood-fired asparagus...incredible! A bottle of the least expensive Rioja on the extensive wine list along with a Lagunitas IPA and a glass of champagne more than satisfied our liquid desires. Finally, a delicious, complimentary dessert topped off a memorable evening. Go for it!"

  • "Our dinner was delicious, timely served in a very pleasant atmosphere. It was a treat to find Halibut on the menu and mussels from Prince Edward Island. We'll make it a point to return and enjoy some of the other fine offerings at Perla's."

  • "Dined this weekend, as we were visiting from out of town. Great lunch menu, lots of choice. Server was exceptional and knowledgeable. Two fish orders came out very over done, there was no issue replacing them and server followed excellent steps of service to turn experience around. Desserts to die for. I'd focus on consistency from the kitchen and this will be a knock out."

  • "This was my 2nd visit to the restaurant. The entrées were a little disappointing. The oysters were outstanding as our appetizer. My wife rated her steak as good. My friends' wife rated her tuna as fine. The other man and myself had the grouper which good, not great. My first visit to the restaurant I recall the food being excellent. Disappointing given the cost. I will say that our waiter was outstanding and very knowledgeable."

  • "Food at Perla's is always great!! The grilled octopus is amazing and always order the mac n cheese. Oysters are always fresh and our scallop entree could not be any better. Overall this has always been a great place to have some good food and their outdoor patio is one of the best in town. Will be coming back for sure!"

  • "Perla's looked and sounded like a great Saturday evening dining spot....but the experience was just "ok." Menu selection wasn't great and it was expensive for the neighborhood. Seafood was fresh and tasty. Wait staff was pleasant. Our waiter forgot to bring my wine, so he gave it to me complimentary. That was very nice. The restaurant was not very busy, and they seated us in the back by the kitchen and bussing station. That was annoying. I asked if we could move to a different table and they sat us in a dark corner. I didn't want to complain again, but It was very dark and difficult to even read the menu. When we left, the restaurant was still half empty. Might try it again during the warmer months."

  • "went with friends to celebrate a special birthday, the atmosphere was comfortable and inviting. The food was outstanding and so was the service. We started with the grilled Octopus and Crab Louie salad and went on to Crispy Gulf Snapper, Lobster Pasta and the Rib Eye. We all absolutely loved our meals and the hushpuppies are to die for! We will definately come back."

  • "I have been many times and the food and service never disappoint. The noise level on any night is distracting at best and counterproductive to conversation. The wine list a treat and affordable but the beer choices are abysmal. No 512!"

  • "The weather in Austin on Saturday was just lovely to be outside, walking around SoCo. My BFF and I had dinner reservations at 5:30pm, but were hungry and didn't feel like waiting to eat, so we arrived early. Although dinner wasn't yet being served, we enjoyed some fantastic appetizers from the bar menu, had a few signature cocktails and sat outside under the huge oak trees. Very, very enjoyable. We will be back!"

  • "We had reservations for 5:30 on a Wednesday. In January Austin is a little slower. Happy hour goes from 3:30-6 pm. Drink specials and oysters at $.50 off each. I noticed that the oyster pricing went from $3.00 to $3.25 each. Previously, they had options from at $3 and $3.50. We got the Tatamagouche from Nova Scotia and the Hollywood from Maryland. They went quickly. We order the snapper plate and redfish on the half shell. Not much talking or leftovers. A great experience."

  • "Enjoyed fresh oysters on the half shell, a crab cake and very spicy Manhattan clam chowder prior to lobster buccatini and Costa Rican mahi mahi. Very nicely prepared and presented. Perfect quantities and the quality, freshness of the food, as well as the service was supurb. Great ambiance, friendly staff and an overall perfect evening!"
