You have come to the right place !5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMorder all coursesthis restaurant has an incredible menu with delicious options in the appetizers, main course and desserts. I highly recommend the calamari salad and the cauliflower apps as well as the donuts for dessert. Enjoy!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMTop NYC restaurantWe just finished a 3 week culinary extravaganza in New York which included 5 of the 10 top Zagat-rated restaurants (Per Se, Blue Hill, Modern, Gramacy etc.) and our best meal, without a doubt, was at Perilla. This village gem is outstanding. It isn't as formal or complex as the others but the food is inventive, perfectly prepared and sparkles with freshness. Highly recommended!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a complete pleasurePerilla never disappoints. Our server was so lovely--really, that makes such a difference. I've never had a bad meal at Perilla--in a group of four, no one was anything less than pleased, and our selections varied widely. Love those semi-booth tables. Looking forward to returning.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent foodSecond time round. Food was excellent and no complaints. Balance in flavours/textures were fantastic and portions were perfect.
We were late for our reso - about 25-30mins to be exact - but even with the restuarant half empty at 7pm, apparently they had to give our original table away and had to be re-seated. Curious.
Nevertheless, the food and table service are the highlights.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFriendly, and welcoming whichFriendly, and welcoming which was a wonderful surprise after they required a credit card with reservation. Some of the food was superb and other dishes were good, somewhat salty. Best were the pasta appetizer, the artichoke and the duck meatballs. Also, the asparagus entree was quite delicious. The fish dishes were well-cooked but nothing special. Chocolate souffle was incredibly good - wish it had been larger. All and all, a very enjoyable experience.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPerilla Delicious & DistinctiveFine appetizers such as the spicy duck meatballs (wow!) and the feather-light calamari crispy, wonderful vegetarian entree (asparagus, morels, etc), and a tender chicken in a delightfully complex plating, with great desserts to finish (loved the chocolate soufflé with coffee creme anglaise).5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMBest apps...calamari lightlyBest apps...calamari lightly fried with watercress...best ever! Cauliflower Agnolotti brilliant. Lovely ambiance. Great service. Very interesting delicious food. The spicy margarita was so hot we tried to drink...server noticed our slow moving drinks...offered to replace for another cocktail. We did. Just well cared for.
Definitely will go back. Nice bar too.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome!!!!The food was outstanding and the service was the same. I had grilled pork belly and my wife had hanger steak. The food was great, the service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was both intimate and vibrant. There were just two of us for dinner but we noticed several large, comfortable booths along the wall that would be nice for larger groups of 4 or 5 people. I loved everything about this restaurant!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was excellent.Everything was excellent. Will definitely have another meal there.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were impeccable. With the three meals including appetizers and desserts, there was not a miss. Our waitress was attentive without interrupting. The decor is understated but elegant. Of note however, the noise level was quiet to moderate when we arrived for our 7PM reservation. By the time we left at 9:30PM it was deafening. We were seated in the bar area however, the back area might be better for a intimate dinner.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFor the special people...Great little restaurant in the west village. Upscale but not old and outdated. Great to take people you want to impress or those who have been to a lot of NYC Spots. Great for a date!
The food was a bit overpriced in my opinion but it was delicious none the less. Save room for dessert!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMPerilla is always wonderful....thisPerilla is always wonderful....this time I tried the calamari which is now a favorite along with the farro risotto and duck meatballs. The duck entree was moist and tasty. Next time the tasting menu! a must try for anyone who appreciate excellent food-keep being great...4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMNice atmosphere in a greatNice atmosphere in a great location. We went on a Sunday and it was rather quiet. Started with the duck meatballs that were delicious. My husband had the steak and I had the fish special, both of which were done very well. I am not sure that we will return (as there are so many other great places to try in the city) but would definitely recommend.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI love Perilla. Always haveI love Perilla. Always have for years. It's always amazing. Service, Food, Drinks, Decor - perfection. Our server let us linger a little longer over brunch. (haven't seen my friend in a year!) But we ordered more drinks, so that we didn't wear out our welcome.
One couple actually left though because of the 2 screaming children next to their table. We heard them too, but just drowned out the sound with more cava.
Chef Howard has a perfect place and it always just gets better each time I dine there.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic meal. The serviceFantastic meal. The service and food were incredible. Definitely fit for foodies, but not overly expensive. Noise level was impressively low given that it was a full house. Highly recommend this spot.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for a date. It was very difficult picking what we wanted to eat because there were so many great sounding options. Ended up with the hamachi crudo, sea bass special and hangar steak - all excellent. We can't wait to go back!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved everything - especiallyLoved everything - especially the french toast and shrimp & grits.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis our sixth visit to Perilla,This our sixth visit to Perilla, truly one of our favorite restaurants. Although we had to wait 15 minutes for our reservation, the food was again terrific. The himachi and braised artichoke appetizer were extraordinary, as was the pork belly and chicken entre's. Service was impecable, and the ambiance very relaxed and West Village like.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSo glad we found this place...Food was excellent! The pork belly was great; as was the dorade and the calamari. My friend had the chocolate soufflé and she said it was divine! I thought the price was reasonable too. All in all, really excellent.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOn vacation in NYC my wifeOn vacation in NYC my wife and I were eager to try Harold Dieterle's Perilla. We had our 6 year old son with us and we all had a great time. I should note that our son does not usually eat off of a kid's menu. He had the roasted chicken, which was excellent and would satisfy both foodies and picky eaters alike. My wife had the duck and loved it and I had the special, which was a pork chop recommended by the waiter. If that is an option then I would strongly recommend it, probably the best pork chop I've ever had.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe chef accommodated my noThe chef accommodated my no dairy in my dish which is always appreciated. The service was impeccable, very pleasant. The food was very good and creative. We look forward to going back real soon.
.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is my 4th visit to PerillaThis is my 4th visit to Perilla and it's always a great food experience. Everyone I introduce to the restaurant praise the overall expreience.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMChar was great, pork bellyChar was great, pork belly was great, hanger steak was incredible. Not to mention the calamari salad which may be the best thing you will ever eat.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was delicious whenThe food was delicious when it arrived...however it took 45 minutes. The hanger steak was ordered medium and came back very rare. It had to be sent back, and we waited another 8ish minutes.
If the food came more promptly and we didn't have to wait so long, would have definitely given the restaurant all 5 stars.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMEat here, you'll love it.Dropped in for brunch. Shared the calamari and watercress salad, so fresh and light. The spicy duck burger was amazing. My husband's grilled mortadella and fontina sandwich was delicious perfection. Our server was attentive and helpful in an unobtrUsive way, exactly how service should be. I regret not trying Perilla sooner. I find myself reviewing the menu online dreaming of my next meal herer.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing server. The food isAmazing server. The food is good, but somewhat trying too hard. Fewer ingredients per dish would definitely make the food much better.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial Occasion Made More SpecialWe celebrated a significant birthday at the birthday girl's restaurant choice, and we were all very pleased with our first-time dinner experience at Perilla. We shared each others' selections at each course, and with one exception, liked them all. The duck meatballs stand out, and the pork belly and Arctic char were great. Desserts were terrific. One drawback: the scallops ceviche, served in a very tiny portion, could have been more flavorful, and the texture was off. This understated and neighborhood-friendly restaurant is all about the food, and the fine service is also respectful of the meal. All in all, well worth experiencing.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was just delicious. The food was just delicious. Each dish was prepared to perfection. The service was attentive and friendly. The ambiance is great - not too loud or too dark. The location is great as well.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGo.Great restaurant. Great food. Really solid service. We loved the duck breast, duck meatballs, calamari was ok (tasted too much like Chinese good takeout), the chicken, the risotto ... very, very flavorful. Staff could not have been more accommodating. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd eat at the bar at least twice a week. Go.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMJust GreatThe food was a wonderful surprise. We can't wait to return and try other menu offerings.
It was a bit cramped, maybe because of Restaurant Week, and noisy, but it was a great meal. Iliada, the best olive I every tasted.1/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
