The meal was outstanding andThe meal was outstanding and the service matched it. What a really great find!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSo far best in NYI love food and love exploring restaurants wherever I go, next few years I will discover US :)
In Perrilla I loved everything, the way customers are taken care of, the support from the waiters in terms of food & wine selection. Friendliness but no arrogance neither absence (which I have seen so far in different places).
Food excellent! Refined combination of flavours, tastes and colours, beautifully served.
Congratulations to Chef and the Crew members.
Will come back definitely!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingI had the Stuffed Braised Artichoke & Spicy Duck Meatballs as apps and Farro Risotto for dinner and it was all amazing! Can't wait to get back there and experience again. The service here is exceptional for NYC as everyone is friendly and they know their menu well!6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSmall and IntimateThis restaurant was easy to walk past with the current scaffolding blocking their sign. Worth finding though! The food was fantastic - we had broasted artichoke, duck breast, and panna cotta. The panna cotta was spectacular! Wine list was small. The restaurant is tiny, but had a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. We were on time for our reservation and had to wait 10min for our table. Would definitely go again!6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Monday bourbonOutstanding Monday bourbon BBQ menu, but their regular menu looked equally fantastic. I will be back!6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place is tucked in aThis place is tucked in a small corner. They have very few tables, but the food and the service is amazing. Our waitor got me the perfect bottle of wine without me even looking thorough the extensive list. The food is definitely fit for foodies and not for those craving a burger or fries. But everything - including the take five sundae was worth eating twice!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall terrific experience.Overall terrific experience. When bartender heard that it was our anniversary, he comped us on the glasses of champagne that we had ordered prior to dinner. Service and food were outstanding. Spicy duck meatballs had the perfect amount of fire. Branzino and catfish were fresh and flavorful, prepared without a lot of fussiness . "Take 5" sundae was perfect ending.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great birthday mealEvery time I go to perilla, the food is outstanding! This time was no different. I was accompanied by my mother who is not quite the foodie I have become. Scared, she did try everything without fear and absolutely loved it.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food here is outstanding. The food here is outstanding. In particular, the cauliflower agnolotti appetizer was wonderful. The charmoula rubbed branzino had such a different taste - so flavorful. The roasted all natural chicken that I ordered was cooked to perfection. We ordered all of the side dishes- an Indian cheese, a wonderful quinoa salad, an excellent farro risotto and the sauteed bok choy that had a bit of a spicy bite. And who would think you could have an entree of asparagus done in four different ways. My dessert was the "Take Five" sundae. OMG!! A delicious peanut butter ice cream with pretzel bits, dulce de leche, peanut pralines and chocolate fudge. And don't forget to order the "coffee and doughnuts", Don't miss it.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMyumFantastic food, great service. One complaint; reservation options were limited, but restaurant had many open tables. Would not have rescheduled the evening to make an early reservation had we known.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat mealMonk fish and branzino paired with Cos sicialian white wine was superb
Soft shell crab appetizer was a reminder of New Orleans
Great experience5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful!Perilla is a great little restaurant and easily accessible. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. You will not regret your dining experience here! The food is simply delightful, flavorful, balanced and beautiful. Can't wait to go there again!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMseasonal yet classicClassic new-american dishes with french-inspired technique, and just about everything includes some seasonal produce. Yes, this is a very trendy and of the moment restaurant, but that doesn't detract from the excellent execution and well balanced flavor profiles.
The space is a narrow "railroad" style, and while there is a decent gap between tables it can still feel somewhat less than intimate. Service was attentive, although with a restaurant like this I would like a little bit more of a gloss beyond what it printed on the menu.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingWe had a great experience at Perilla. The apps, meatballs and braised artichoke, were delicious. Our entrees, catfish and chicken, were amazing even though it's kind of boring to order chicken. The saag paneer side was tasty. The real stars were the desserts! Service was timely, friendly and attentive without being overbearing.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Experience, again! My second time at Perilla and did not disappoint. The food is excellent coupled by great service and knowledgable servers. One thing I want to call out is that it is a vegetarian friendly restaurant (my wife is vegetarian). Not only is there always a vegetarian entree but it is an entree thats changes seasonally and is creative iin its own right - in this case I enjoyed the tasting of asparagus just a much as the mahi special I ordered. We will definitely be back!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing!!Every plate was cooked to perfection! We had an amazing experience.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Experience, every timeI've now been to Perilla twice in the past two years and both experiences were phenomenal. The staff is accommodating and thoughtful when suggesting their recommendations on menu/beverage choices. The menu selection attracts a variety of taste preferences and the food is always cooked to perfection. I tell everyone I can about Perilla.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent kitchenNew and interesting takes on restaurant faves - like the deep fried spinach with the calamari...5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Find in the VillageYou are a visitor. You are looking for a comfortable and friendly restaurant with amazingly tasty food.
You have come to the right place !5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMorder all coursesthis restaurant has an incredible menu with delicious options in the appetizers, main course and desserts. I highly recommend the calamari salad and the cauliflower apps as well as the donuts for dessert. Enjoy!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMComing to the place to checkComing to the place to check the works of someone who took part at a TV contest/reality show and asuming I was going to like the food, I was setting myself for a disapointment due to my very high expectations. Quite the oposite happened. I loved the food!
I have to add that the prices were actually very good considering the quality of the final product.
Loved the fact that the carte was simple and manageable, I guess that also helps to find consistency in the final product throughout time.
Staff were very considerate when we keep phoning to postpone our reservation for later and later, and were not at all wanting to get over with service even when we arrived just around at kitchen closing time.
Would come back definitely.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food and serviceI would definitely recommend this restaurant. Food has an Asian twist to it and very very tasty!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMTop NYC restaurantWe just finished a 3 week culinary extravaganza in New York which included 5 of the 10 top Zagat-rated restaurants (Per Se, Blue Hill, Modern, Gramacy etc.) and our best meal, without a doubt, was at Perilla. This village gem is outstanding. It isn't as formal or complex as the others but the food is inventive, perfectly prepared and sparkles with freshness. Highly recommended!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a complete pleasurePerilla never disappoints. Our server was so lovely--really, that makes such a difference. I've never had a bad meal at Perilla--in a group of four, no one was anything less than pleased, and our selections varied widely. Love those semi-booth tables. Looking forward to returning.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent foodSecond time round. Food was excellent and no complaints. Balance in flavours/textures were fantastic and portions were perfect.
We were late for our reso - about 25-30mins to be exact - but even with the restuarant half empty at 7pm, apparently they had to give our original table away and had to be re-seated. Curious.
Nevertheless, the food and table service are the highlights.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFriendly, and welcoming whichFriendly, and welcoming which was a wonderful surprise after they required a credit card with reservation. Some of the food was superb and other dishes were good, somewhat salty. Best were the pasta appetizer, the artichoke and the duck meatballs. Also, the asparagus entree was quite delicious. The fish dishes were well-cooked but nothing special. Chocolate souffle was incredibly good - wish it had been larger. All and all, a very enjoyable experience.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPerilla Delicious & DistinctiveFine appetizers such as the spicy duck meatballs (wow!) and the feather-light calamari crispy, wonderful vegetarian entree (asparagus, morels, etc), and a tender chicken in a delightfully complex plating, with great desserts to finish (loved the chocolate soufflé with coffee creme anglaise).5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMBest apps...calamari lightlyBest apps...calamari lightly fried with watercress...best ever! Cauliflower Agnolotti brilliant. Lovely ambiance. Great service. Very interesting delicious food. The spicy margarita was so hot we tried to drink...server noticed our slow moving drinks...offered to replace for another cocktail. We did. Just well cared for.
Definitely will go back. Nice bar too.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is one of the best restaurantThis is one of the best restaurant regarding value for money , excellent food but is hard to keep a conversation. People shouting so loud.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome!!!!The food was outstanding and the service was the same. I had grilled pork belly and my wife had hanger steak. The food was great, the service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was both intimate and vibrant. There were just two of us for dinner but we noticed several large, comfortable booths along the wall that would be nice for larger groups of 4 or 5 people. I loved everything about this restaurant!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was excellent.Everything was excellent. Will definitely have another meal there.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were impeccable. With the three meals including appetizers and desserts, there was not a miss. Our waitress was attentive without interrupting. The decor is understated but elegant. Of note however, the noise level was quiet to moderate when we arrived for our 7PM reservation. By the time we left at 9:30PM it was deafening. We were seated in the bar area however, the back area might be better for a intimate dinner.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFor the special people...Great little restaurant in the west village. Upscale but not old and outdated. Great to take people you want to impress or those who have been to a lot of NYC Spots. Great for a date!
The food was a bit overpriced in my opinion but it was delicious none the less. Save room for dessert!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMPerilla is always wonderful....thisPerilla is always wonderful....this time I tried the calamari which is now a favorite along with the farro risotto and duck meatballs. The duck entree was moist and tasty. Next time the tasting menu! a must try for anyone who appreciate excellent food-keep being great...4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMNice atmosphere in a greatNice atmosphere in a great location. We went on a Sunday and it was rather quiet. Started with the duck meatballs that were delicious. My husband had the steak and I had the fish special, both of which were done very well. I am not sure that we will return (as there are so many other great places to try in the city) but would definitely recommend.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI love Perilla. Always haveI love Perilla. Always have for years. It's always amazing. Service, Food, Drinks, Decor - perfection. Our server let us linger a little longer over brunch. (haven't seen my friend in a year!) But we ordered more drinks, so that we didn't wear out our welcome.
One couple actually left though because of the 2 screaming children next to their table. We heard them too, but just drowned out the sound with more cava.
Chef Howard has a perfect place and it always just gets better each time I dine there.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic meal. The serviceFantastic meal. The service and food were incredible. Definitely fit for foodies, but not overly expensive. Noise level was impressively low given that it was a full house. Highly recommend this spot.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for a date. Service was impecable, and the ambiance very relaxed and West Village like.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSo glad we found this place...Food was excellent! The pork belly was great; as was the dorade and the calamari. My friend had the chocolate soufflé and she said it was divine! I thought the price was reasonable too. All in all, really excellent.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOn vacation in NYC my wifeOn vacation in NYC my wife and I were eager to try Harold Dieterle's Perilla. We had our 6 year old son with us and we all had a great time. I should note that our son does not usually eat off of a kid's menu. He had the roasted chicken, which was excellent and would satisfy both foodies and picky eaters alike. My wife had the duck and loved it and I had the special, which was a pork chop recommended by the waiter. If that is an option then I would strongly recommend it, probably the best pork chop I've ever had.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe chef accommodated my noThe chef accommodated my no dairy in my dish which is always appreciated. The hanger steak was ordered medium and came back very rare. It had to be sent back, and we waited another 8ish minutes.
If the food came more promptly and we didn't have to wait so long, would have definitely given the restaurant all 5 stars.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
