Percy Street BarbecueGreat DiningFirst visit to Persy St. Won't be the last. Excellent food, recommendations and staff. Your loss if you don't try this gem.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome barbeque, great beerAwesome barbeque, great beer selection for the grown ups, excellent environment for the kids. We will be back soon!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMTasty! We ordered family style and were presented with platters of ribs, chicken and brisket, along with every side dish on their menu. The German potato salad was excellent. The chicken was perfectly cooked and very moist. The dry-rub brisket was a little dry but the BBQ sauces they bring to the table did the trick there. I would definitely go there again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Down-home BBQWith four of us dining, we were able to try a lot of different options. The cole slaw was great - not too much mayo, and the apple was a great addition. Brisket was served either "lean or moist", and we had a combination. Pulled pork was meaty and lean, and with the sauce, was quite moist. BBQ sauces come in regular, hot and sweet.
Our waiter was cordial, checked back with our table appropriately, and assisted us in getting the check quickly (we were leaving for the airport.)
A great place for casual dining, even with the energetic noise level.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat real BBQWhile the ambiance may not be as upscale as some of the typical Philly restaurants, Percy St definitely nails it with the food. This is good straight up BBQ. Perfectly seasoned and cooked meat and none of it is slathered in BBQ sauce. So even if you don't like BBQ sauce you can still have a great meal here. I went with a group of 6 and everyone found something they enjoyed. My only critique is that I really wish they had a more standard drink menu. Their beers are all over the place but you'll find it hard to get a standard domestic beer. Otherwise this was an excellent dining experience. Make sure you make reservations because you may get turned away without them. This is destined to be a great Philly staple.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSo GoodGreat experience. Fantastic food and fantastic beer selection. Everyone was very hospitable.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFun placeFood was great, nice mix of menu items. Will definitely return!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBrisket was absolutely right,Brisket was absolutely right, by Texas standards. That says a lot. Loved the grits with fried oysters, too.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMI love this place! The BBQI love this place! The BBQ is awesome, especially the sliced brisket sandwich with fried green tomatoes. For all you beer snobs, like myself, they have quite the list but it is all cans. I'm a fan but I'm sure there are those who prefer tap or bottles. This was the first time I sat at a table and it was fine but the bar is where it's at. The staff is super friendly and laid back. There was a group of ten or so there with large tables still up for grabs. Definitely give this place a try. Just don't wear white.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious BBQ on South Street !I was at Percy Street BBQ last week (4-18-13) with 3 other friends and we're already talking about going back. The food was delicious, the waitsatff very attentive and the dining room was a very nice place to hang for a while. We'll be back soon for sure!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting twist on traditionalInteresting twist on traditional BBQ items. My group had a blast trying the different items... and especially, the Hillbilly Gatorade!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI've eaten here a couple ofI've eaten here a couple of times now and love the food SO MUCH. Staff is all super friendly, too.
My only complaint is that some of the cocktails were kind of pricey.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMTook my son and his girlfriendTook my son and his girlfriend out to dinner as an escape from College life. The place was charming and service was outstanding. The food was excellant and the dessert of both the pecan pie and key lime pie were fabulous. I am awaiting a chance to return.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely food, amazing appetizers,Lovely food, amazing appetizers, excelente Service. I would definitely recommend.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLarge portion sizes. The moistLarge portion sizes. The moist brisket was very tasty and the macaroni and cheese was a highlight. Also, a wonderful beer selection. I will definitely come back.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe new menu format is a littleThe new menu format is a little disappointing but the BBQ and sides are great, dare I say, better than fette sau. Only wish you could still order meats a la carte but otherwise no complaints.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have loved this place fromWe have loved this place from the begining, good value and great food, nice friendly staff.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMaybe 3.5. Mac and cheeseMaybe 3.5.
Mac and cheese was delicious! love sharp cheddar.
Lamb ribs appetizer was literally fall right off the bone. It was awesome! but very fatty.
Brisket was very fatty and a bit dry.
Spare ribs were sort of dry and salty.
Bean sides were good, but pretty typical.
German potato salad was very good.
I like their spicy BBQ sauce and house sauce.
Overall, the food was decent. Service was good. The waiter immediately gave us his favorite dishes and recommendations which I like. Service was attentive and friendly. Had a reservation and was seated in 10 minutes which is good. The atmosphere is chill and trendy.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the first time IThis was the first time I have been to Percy Street since they have changed their menu. Overall, I like the changes. The biggest improvement in my eyes is that they slowed down the meal. Before, you would order your food and get it within a matter of minutes, making the meal more of a rushed enterprise than a dining event. The slowed-down service made eating there more of an enjoyable experience. The only thing I miss from the old menu is the Red Velvet cake...that was delicious. TIP: For anyone who has been dying to try the lamb at Zahav, but doesn't want to spend the money, try the lamb rib appetizer. The flavors are similar. While the sauces are different, it is clear that they have been smoked with the same flavors.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was wondeful!TheEverything was wondeful! The Beef Brisket was espcially good and the Pecan Pie was the best ever! The list of Beers and Drinks is second to none. I will be back.
Patrick3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Philly QTried Percy Street for the first time and really enjoyed it. Hard to find good BBQ in the Northeast, but they do a very good job here: Brisket was moist and flavorful and the sauces were unique and tasty. Nice touch on the "six-pack" where you buy 5 beers and get the 6th one free! Just the right atmosphere for the fare also, will definitely be going back!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe menu has lots of interesting,The menu has lots of interesting, delicious food.
