A word from Perch Pub
Perch Pub offers patrons a perfect spot to kick back and 'roost', in comfort, above Broad and Locust Streets with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Philadelphia's Avenue of the Arts. With a menu of delicious American-inspired comfort food, Perch is a relaxed, unpretentious pub. The interior has a timeless feel, with rich mahogany finishes and exposed brick and metal beams. In addition to boasting one of the best birds-eye views in the city for people watching, the pub offers separate areas for a pool table and dart board and features additional amenities including a juke box, HDTV's and a large drop-down projection screen in the main dining room for watching major sports events. The Perch has a broad selection of fourteen craft beers on tap, an extensive bottle and can list (104 entries and growing), as well as full bar featuring a prominent selection of bourbons, whiskeys, and Scotches (including house-infusions). Diner Reviews
  • "This is a great place for lunch, but I'd bet the evenings here are spectacular!"

  • "My wife and I stopped in to have dinner before Phantom of the Opera across the street. Location is great because you can just skip across the street to your show! The view is cool. You're on the second floor and overlooking the street. Great people watching while you eat if you get a window seat. The reason I gave it moderate for noise, is that the tables are fairly close, and due to the arrangement, you can hear all surrounding conversations. Not a bad thing at all! But not really good if a romantic night out or first date is the object of the evening. The food was amazing. If you like burgers, get the Wake and Bacon (see what they did there?). It was AWESOME. So are the deviled eggs! haha. Highly recommend!!!"

  • "If the owners took just one table out, there MIGHT be room for the waitstaff to move between the tables to serve the food. We could NOT push our chairs in any further - literally - and were being bumped by waitstaff and other patrons throughout our visit. Food was good and location was great."

  • "Our first time at Perch Pub, but definitely won't be our last. Really liked the draft beer menu and how it grouped the beers by type - lots easier to find what you want to try. Also an extensive bottled beer menu. We had the Mediterranean Melt and Scotch Filet sandwiches, which were large and delicious. Perfect. Each came with a very generous side salad of spring greens, also delicious. There wasn't anything about this place to criticize. Loved the view out of Avenue of the Arts."

  • "Great food and location for events near by. They were great about asking if we were attending an event and kept us on schedule. Food was all great and an enjoyable evening. Will return."

  • "This place never lets me down. When I need a friendly face and great food with some great beer, it never fails to meet my expectations."

  • "This upstairs pub overlooks The Avenue of the Arts and provides a bird's eye view of street life below. Food is good and reasonably priced. The menu is varied, and always offers vegetarian options. A great place to meet a friend, or grab a bite before or after a show."

  • "I went here before a show at the Academy. It was great. It was packed! Service was good and the food was too. Need to expand the drink menu a bit, but no real complaints."

  • "Daily soup and main specials, great beers, gorgeous upstairs view of the Avenue of the Arts. Friendly servers. Perfect location for marrying up with friends. Downstairs is a more upscale restaurant that's also consistently good and caters to the theater and concert crowds."

  • "Perch Pub offers a very relaxed experience. Typically we have drinks, appetizers and the grilled Caesar salad with chicken. It is a place we frequent often so we have had many items on the menu which are all terrific but the chicken Caesar with grilled Romaine is our favorite. The beer menu is excellent and the salad is prepared to perfection. There is lots of hustle bustle which only enhances the experience. This is a place you have to try."

  • "This place is so convenient for pre or post theater dining! Extensive craft beer list with many seasonals on draft as well as a creative cocktail menu featuring drinks named after 1980's movie villains. Great simple comfort food menu with nightly specials. Had a fig and pistachio bread pudding for dessert last visit that was just delicious. Nice view of Broad St, and an even nicer view when you open the check folder and find a smaller number than what is typical in Center City."

  • "We went to the Perch Pub after a matinee at the Academy of Music. Staff was very friendly, and helpful with our questions. We especially enjoyed the Philly Spring Rolls. Extensive on tap beer list."

  • "We had a great pre theater meal at Perches Pub. The service was very efficient and the food really good. Only real drawback was all of the steps going up to the dining room - no elevator. Just an issue for those who may not be able to do steps well. Otherwise a great convenient place to watch the world go by."

  • "How did we never notice this upstairs hidden treasure before? Just across the street from the Academy of Music, a block from the Wilma...so we can park for shows and easily walk to dinner and back to the show. The atmosphere is fun, the service is great and the food is wonderful. Prices moderate and they make sure you're out in time for your show! We've been here 8 times in the year since we discovered it...alone, with friends and with our 5 yr old granddaughter after The Nutcracker last December. Always comfortable, always good. 'Nuff said."

  • "We were looking for a nice restaurant on short notice before a concert at the Kimmel Center. The food was good and the server asked us if we were going to the Kimmel Center that night just to make sure that we were finished with our meal in plenty of time to walk over."

  • "best location and value for pre-theater on Broad St."

  • "great find! Good service, delicious food. Best burger I've ever had. Onions rings were too greasy, but a keeper for sure on our Center City list!!"

  • "We had brunch here and all 4 of us loved the food! The breakfast pizza and apple salad were amazing! We had requested a table by the window with a view of Broad St on our Open Table reservation. When we checked in at the hostess desk she took us to a table by the window and told us "here is your table with a view as you requested!". I loved that! I've been here before for dinner and they never disappoint!"

  • "We bought tickets for a show at Merriam theater and needed a nice place for dinner prior to the show. Found that Perch pub was located directly from the theater and had good reviews. Booked reservations the day of our show and was able to pick a great seating time. We live about an hour from Philly and we were able to find parking right next to the pub which was great for a Saturday night. The pub is located upstairs and they seated us right by the window which had a great view of Broad street. We ordered a crab cake sandwich, burger and the Philly spring rolls. Good food at a great price. Was a great find for a night out."

  • "If you are going to the Academy for a show you can stop for good food and nice, prompt service so you can get to the show on time."

  • "My friends and I dine here monthly before each season-ticket show at the Academy of Music. The location is perfect and there is such a vast selection for all to choose from, from breakfast to brunch to lunch options. So glad we found the Perch Pub!"

  • "I love Perch Pub. I have been many times before. It is close to the arts on Broad St. They will get you in and out in time for your show. If you like beers there are a million to choose from. But I like the food best. The Fish and Chips are the best I have had oustide of Merry olde England. The Philly steak spring roll appetized are tops to. The salads and dressings are interesting not just lettuce. If you are interested in a game the TVs are on so you can check that out. There is a pool table in the back room too. Give it a try, the pricing is reasonable for Avenue of the Arts. PS if you want a finer dining experience go downstairs to Sotto Varalli. Two restaurants on site."

  • "We had a good time overall. The salmon meal was great! Location was diagonal from the Merriam Theatre... very nice and convenient as we were going to see a play. The food arrived at the table quickly. The only downfall was that they ran out of wings... wings... who runs out of wings for the weekend. Overall nice place."

  • "Picked for its walking distance to Kimmel and varied menu, we enjoyed everything we ordered on the menu and did not ruin the bank. This is more expensive than in the suburbs, but less than the Hyatt restaurants. Very different atmosphere than the old top of the Varalli. Great view of the street and Kimmel."

  • "I had a great time there. It was very romantic for my girlfriend and I. She had the best V DAY ever. We fell in love Friday. We danced until it was time to leave."

  • "The food is decent, and sometimes more than that. The beer selection is great. The views of Broad Street are great. One little warning: the hummus appetizer is meant to be shared."

  • "Perch Pub is across the street from the Academy of Music and a block away from the Kimmel. After seeing the Philly Pops it was a perfect spot for dinner as it was a short walk. The room was beautiful in a rustic way and was all windows over looking the Academy and Broad Street. The food was lite bits and sandwiches which were very good. The only problem would be the spiral staircase going up. Not sure if they had an elevator. I would definitely go back."

  • "Went for an early dinner on a Sunday with our two children. We loved the apps and the sandwiches. The service was great. They also had fresh beer on tap. We ordered mostly the sandwiches and starters. Everything was hot and good."

  • "Great selection of beers and ales with very good pub food at reasonable prices. Winning combination. Then, of course, if you get the right table, there's the great view of the Academy of Music. Perfect for a casual get together"

  • "Make a reservation for a table on the corner overlooking Broad Street and watch the world go by. Was there for their brunch menu before a concert.. Lively. Good food (from a brunch menu - not a brunch buffet. Fun - and very reasonably priced - brunch cocktails. (Good Bloody Mary, Pear Bellini and Mimosa). I suspect it's a hoppin' bar in the evening."
    Dined on 2/8/2014
  • "We were nearly an hour late for our reservation because of a fender-bender. They called; held our table, and fed us very quickly, which allowed us to make a concert with full bellies. Pub atmosphere. Very good quality pub food. Good beer menu. Restaurant is on 2nd floor with floor to ceiling windows overlooking Broad and Locust. Great spot to watch the world go by. Also, very convenient location for performance venues in the neighborhood."

  • "My daughter and I have eaten here several times prior to attending the ballet. Very close to the theaters, etc. The menu has a lot to choose from and the service is good! Nice bar selection, too. Second floor restaurant so the view overlooking the arts district is great. Try to get a table by a window. Vibrant atmosphere! Would definitely return!"

  • "Our server was attentive. My friend and I each had the salmon. I know; it's a pub, but that's what we ordered. It was very good. When we asked for rolls, our server said that they had sliced bread; she could bring that. We declined. We ordered the mission fig bread pudding for dessert and were told it was sold out. This is at 6:30 PM. Seemed unusual to be out of a dessert that early. We would go back."
