Diner Reviews
  • "While you go to Perch for the view, it is obvious that the owners knew better than to rely on looks alone to pay the bills. The service is literally comparable to places that are much more expensive, the food is modern yet comforting, and drinks are taken quite seriously. There are also plenty of wines available and with a wide price range. The new manager Nick stopped by our table and rather than "glad-hand" us so we'd feel special, he was cheerful, genuine, and glowingly proud of his Perch. I've been several times and will continue to show off this little place in the sky to my friends and house guests."

  • "The view is amazing!! So, it's a must see but the food is Delish!!!! So, it's a must go!! The salmon and scallop dishes were so yummy!! My favorite is the mushroom risotto!!! Every bite of the meal was absolutely yummy!! The drinks are really strong :) It's crowded so reservations recommended and they offer valet parking. Ask for patio seating and the roof top bar is a plus for before or after dinner! Loved it!"

  • "Best view of the city. Gives a whole new perspective to downtown LA! Food is all excellent. Service is very friendly and accommodating, which makes up for a fairly long wait time to be seated sometimes. But that's just because the place is definitely a hotspot! Grab a drink on the roof top while you wait. So worth it."

  • "Did not take special mention of my parents 30th anniversary, even though it was noted in the reservation and confirmed upon arrival.. No complimentary dessert or even a candle in the desert we ordered. Disappointing for such a significant occasion."

  • "We read on the website to dress dressy/casual which we did. Not all the guests did and it was disappointing. My husband and I are in our 50's and at the outside bar before dinner we sat by a group of younger people and their language was awful. I was offended that they were not considerate of other guests. We moved seats. For such a classy place that was pretty disappointing. :-(. Service and food was great!"

  • "We went here for our 5 year anniversary thinking it would be romantic. It was far from it. We sat at a table for 2, 1foot away from 2 other tables for 2. I could have grabbed food off their plate we were so close. Could not have a conversation in private without other people hearing. Cool place just not for a romantic diner."

  • "Such a beautiful restaurant. It was so romantic, and perfect for date night. Absolutely loved the rooftop, that we got to check out as we were waiting to be seated. The bacon mac n' cheese was AMAZING. Absolutely recommend this place!"

  • "Love this spot!! Great for dining, drinks meeting friends old and new! Fun for drinks dinner or a romantic evening. The view is spectacular and the staff thoughtful and ready to add to your experience."

  • "A vibrant, very happening city scene -- a breath of fresh air (literally!) compared to most "nice" restaurants. Loved the very personal, attentive service. Loved the people-watching (20- and 30-somethings dressed to the nines, tattoos seemingly a requirement for waitresses, etc.). LOVED the views of the city and sky. The food was very nice, though clearly much of the price was paying for the ambience. Other reviewers have said it was very noisy, but we thought it was just lively (we were outside, and maybe inside is different. I definitely recommend outside, for the breeze and views!). On complaint: the cheapest wine was $32, and prices went up fast from there, so we just paid the $20 corkage. Wish we could afford to taste their wine."

  • "This is the second time I have eaten at the Perch and I was not dissapointed. The food as well as the service was what you would expect from a fine dinning experience."

  • "I really enjoyed my Perch LA experience just recently. The only thing that was a shock was the portion of the delicious braised short ribs dish (Boeuf Bordelaise) & the miniature glass martini's.... in correlation to the prices."

  • "We got there late for our reservation but the hostesses were very accommodating. Our server, Peter, was exceptional! He was very attentive from the moment we sat at our table. The band made the ambience feel warm & cozy amidst the windy night. The only downside was being charged $28 for cake corkage, which was probably the same price as my actual birthday cake (boo!). All in all, it was an amazing dining experience. Thanks to the people who went above and beyond to leave a lasting impression on our dining experience. 😊"

  • "It was our first time at Perch & made reservations for group of 9 with fix menu to celebrate a dear friend's birthday. I called 3 days prior to my reservations and spoke with Anastasia. When we arrived, none of the notes she took during our call was in their system. We had bad seating in a poorly managed space. Although the DTLA scenery is outstanding, sadly the service does not live up to the hype. Perch is highly overrated. Servers look disgruntled and disheveled, does not know how to communicate. We felt rushed the entire time. Food & drinks was ehhh , I had better food elsewhere. Perch should take notes on how exquisite service is at Bottega Louie. If it wasn't for the fine building and view, I wouldn't consider dining at a Perch."

  • "My friends and I went to Perch for dinner. WE had drinks on the top floor of hte rooftop and then dinner on the first floor. It was delicious."

  • "The caos is controlled...the sound level is over the top..but so is the food! Having always enjoyed dining here it was nice our waiter remembered us...great wine but even greater food! octopus app and short ribs are perfect always...but the scallops were exceptional as well...the beet salad was great even if you do not like beets! skip dessert and have apps instead."

  • "I'm always skeptical of rooftop scenic restaurants, which frequently rely on the gimmick rather than the food. Not so at Perch. Great cocktails, delicious food, fantastic live music - and the amazing setting and views are a huge bonus. The restaurant was extremely busy, yet we never felt rushed. The service was fine-dining quality and pace, and the check was not mentioned until we asked for it. We'll definitely be back."

  • "I have been to Perch a couple times and its a perfect afternoon to relax and enjoy the ambience. I have a 2 1/2 year old and it is perfect due to the general noise level to enjoy a nice drink and appetizers without me feeling my daughter will disturb anyone. Every time I go, we always talk with great people sitting next to us. The spot is not what I would classify as a kid location, but if you have a child that is easily entertained with their coloring books, etc. and you want to enjoy some time doing something as an adult... this is the perfect spot. A few hours here, I go home always feeling refreshed and ready for another week of mommy life. The Staff is ALWAYS amazing! Every person I have referred here comes back loving it!"

  • "I come here for the view. I think it's best just for drinks though. The food is not that great in my opinion. I had the eggs Benedict and it lacked flavor and freshness. The potatos were definitely frozen and tasted that way. But if you just want drinks and a great view it's perfect."

  • "A group of 9 for Sunday brunch- when we arrived on time, we were told our table wasnt ready and we could go to the bar this was fine but nobody came to seat us. So i had to wait in line at the host booth to ask if our table was ready. Next there was an out of order sing on the restroom and we asked three times if there was another restroom and finally got an answer. It was strange thst nobody followed up with us like promised. We ordered off the prix fix menu and our food wasn't served at the same time. There was a 10 min delay between the times people were served. The burgers were undercooked. And I had to ask twice for the check. It was super strange. We felt invisible. The sangria and ambiance was great though."

  • "We went once before a year ago and it was great. I think they were too busy to provide good service now. Our reservation was delayed. We tried to get a drink upstairs, but in 20 minutes, the line to the bar didn't move. They waiter took a long time to get to the table, drinks took longer than they should have to get to the table and the food was lukewarm at best. Everyone was very nice, I just think they were too busy and couldn't handle that many people. It's a beautiful spot, just maybe take on less people or get more staff when you are that busy."

  • "We arrived a bit late to our reservation, but they were kind enough to hold it for us. The hostess was great. She was very nice and very well dressed. Once seated our waitress (Kayla) took forever to approach us. Once we were ready to order she didn't even come to us, we had to call her over. Then our food took so long to arrive. We ordered the steak frites and chicken supreme. We noticed that people who had arrived after us were getting their food before us. It took about 45 minutes for our food to arrive and not once did our Kayla ask how we were doing. Our food was delicious though! Definitely worth the price. When we finished our meal we had to wait another half hour until Kayla showed up with the check. Everything else was great though"

  • "Perch exceeded our expectations by far! The service was impeccable, the live band was amazing and the food was great! We had a great birthday celebration and look forward to celebrating more happy occasions at Perch in the future."

  • "My wife and i came here for dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary. i mentioned this in my reservation and the staff was aware of it and went out of its way to make our night special. Our waitress was great (Tricia?). She recommended a drink that we both ordered. It didn't taste like we thought it would based on its ingredients and the waitress figured out we didn't like the drink. She offered to fix it which she did and the drink tasted better. She also brought my wife a new drink and told us we could keep the first drink Very cool. As for the food, my wife ordered the boullabaise which she loved. i had the salmon which was good, but not special. Our waitress brought us the rice pudding on the house which was delicious."

  • "Beautiful and romantic outdoor dinning spot on the lower floor (15th) and a nice bar scene on the top 16th floor. Unlike many restaurants with a view they do not use this as a crutch and get by with mediocre food. Everyone in my group enjoyed their main dish and dessert. The white chocolate pudding was delicious and not too heavy/rich like many other places."

  • "We went for a birthday dinner. The service was exceptional. Our waiter really paid attention and when one diner was unhappy with their food, he immediately offered to remove it from the bill and gave her new choices. He also had a great knowledge of wines. I loved the cab he suggested. The food was average, nothing special. We did love the dessert gelato and the bread pudding. As far as the meal, I had the sea bass, again good, but I've had better. The scallops had too many onions and the beef they felt was a little tough. The view is nice, the ambiance felt homey and comfortable. I would definitely go back because of that."

  • "Food was great - just ordered one appetizer and 3 small dishes to share with a friend. Wine was great, ambience is great. Service left a little to be desired, which was the only drawback. Overall a nice experience. Would go back for drinks and the view with friends."

  • "we walked-in for a brunch around 1PM and we noticed there were many tables available but they said all are reservations so they will put us on waiting list. we waited. 30mins... 45 min... 55min.... the tables that were available were still available. so i logged in to opentable.com to see if they were telling the truth but guess what. there were a lot of tables left for reservation at that time period. i instantly reserved through opentable for 2PM and walked back to them and told them i just made a reservation. they lead us straight to the table that was available an hour ago. WHAT??? well besides that, their service was great throughout brunch but i do think their dishes are overpriced for its portion and quality."

  • "Perch is definitely great for happy hour. I've been here multiple times for happy hour as well as regular dining. Reservations are a must for the weekend nights. The view of DTLA is unbeatable! I love the happy hour hot dogs and the baked brie. For dinner, their braised short ribs and gnocchi are some of my favs for dinner. Drink are delicious and fun, something to suit everyone. Live band outside during the weekday sometime and they're always great! LOVEEEE Perch!"

  • "The food was pretty good, but wasn't necessarily the most unique, but let's be fair that LA is a tough/competitive market. Anywhere else and the food would be 4 stars. The ambiance is by far the winning combination they have with the rooftop dining in downtown LA. There was live music when we went (Monday) which added an extra nice touch."

  • "Elevator ride up was freightful. Two girls at reception can't seem to communicate effectively with each other. After sunset, the guests had to request that the outdoor heaters be lit. We shouldn't have to ask! It was clear that more professionalism and attentiveness was needed. Filet was not as tender as I thought it would be, but some of the drinks were outstanding! A mixed bag of great and mediocre."
