A word from Perbacco
Sleek and modern with one foot firmly in the Old World is the feeling at Perbacco. The restaurant boasts a brick wall original to the historic 1913 Hind building, with other touches such as a bar top and floor tiles made from white Carrara marble. With 16 seats at the bar and 7 more intimate tables, Perbacco creates an atmosphere for a glass of wine or a light bite. Perbacco also features 2 dining rooms, one on the main floor and a smaller one on the Mezzanine, which has the added allure of serving as "theater", with windows to watch all the action in the kitchen below.
Chef Staffan Terje strives to cook the finest food reflecting the Italian regions of Piemonte and Liguria. Handcrafted, house-made salami, prosciutto and other meats are featured at the salumi bar. Filled pastas, a tradition in Piemonte, range from the traditional ravioli to the more exotic agnolotti. Main courses feature traditional dishes such as Bollito Misto and milk-braised pork shoulder with Savoy cabbage.

We have enjoyed Perbacco for years. The food is among the best and most reasonable Italian cooking available. The service is excellent and the wines, which can be ordered by the glass, or a small caraffe are excellent. The price is right. Destination not to be missed.

Perbacco is a great place for fine Italian food. We had mushroom risotto and agnolotti with meat and truffle butter. Appetizers and pasta were delicious, and the wines by the glass selections were excellent. Lots of great choices for both food and drink. Very comfortable and elegant environment. Easy street parking at night. Will go again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The choices were all very tempting. What we ate was delicious especially the trio of roe crudo, tenderloin and baked Alaskan. Our waiter plus all the staff was attentive and helpful. I was impressed with the food and service and will doubtlessly be back for the next celebration.

I booked a reservation at Perbacco for my parents for their 20th anniversary. Having spent an anniversary there myself, I knew the kind of great service and incredible food they would have. Unfortunately there were a few service issues hurt the overall experience. One of our good friends called ahead and purchased a bottle to be served to my parents and they were supposed to tell my parents it was from her. Instead there was a card on the table wishing them a happy anniversary but no mention of the wine. Apparently they could not access the wine my friend had purchased for my parents, which they let her know about in advance and she told them to just choose something comparable. Instead, the somm told my parents they didn't have access to the wines (plural) that had been set aside for them by their daughter, who isn't who purchased the wine. She later came back and said that it was only one bottle and that they still didn't have access to it. They were well into their meal and my parents suggested that she instead just serve them something comparable. She selected a nice bottle of wine, brought it to them and never checked on them again. Unfortunately my parents didn't like the wine and didn't drink much of it and gave it to the server. Disappointing when my friend spent almost $100 on the wine. The experience was very confusing for my parents and a nice gesture turned into a debacle. While I appreciate their efforts, since the somm knew well in advance they didn't have the wine my friend purchased for my parents, and a solution had been agreed upon, I find it confusing that it still wasn't figured out by the time my parents got there and that my parents were needlessly looped into this service debacle by the somm. That all said, they loved the food and they will definitely be back. And I look forward to eating there again soon myself. But if I ever want to celebrate something special or send someone else to dinner as a gift, I will choose another restaurant.

I have had many meals here but the lunch today was outstanding. The chef continues to use fresh and seasonal ingredients very creatively - beet and blackberry salad with walnuts was a standout. The service was terrific. My only complaint is that as the space fills up during the busy lunch period the noise level in the main room gets very loud - max is four people at a table otherwise you cannot hear the conversation.

Perbacco has it down for having rich, flavorful pasta dishes that time after time do not disappoint. AND, if you only order pasta and a glass of wine, you can get away with spending under 40 bucks. The dining room is stunning, the service can be impeccable, it was a bit off this time, but it was really busy, so our great server was a tad overwhelmed, but made up for it by giving us an extra dessert. If you are coming for a special occasion, this is the place to dine. The full menu of appetizers, main entrees and side dishes are all creatively prepared with a full explosion of flavor. Pasta and wine or the whole nine yards, this place is the BEST and should be experienced by ALL!

Perbacco is a beautiful restaurant. It was recommended by someone who goes there with there long time partner. I went there on a first date… The food was good..my date was the Italian food lover so I wouldn't say it was excellent as I'm not a huge italian food lover. But I do like it and I still remain in the like. It didn't convert me to a "lover" per se. Thats okay. I think Perbacco is a place for large groups or long time partners. Its not a romantic setting which is what I wanted. The service was okay but I feel its difficult for the servers to give a more personable and warmer service because of the energy in the space. I am a foodie and I know phenomenal food when I taste it. Apparently I didn't order phenomenal but instead very good.

I had pretty high expectations which were unfortunately, not met. It was busy - Friday night - and the service was slow at times. The first bottle of wine ordered was not in stock, which was OK but it took our server 20 minutes to come back to tell us that. So we didn't get our wine for the first 30 minutes we were sitting. The appetizer (Frito mist of shrimp) was a disappointment. The entire dish was battered/fried, served with mayo. Diner food. I would not order it again. The two entrees were delicious (Sea Bass and Scallops). I'd recommend both.

We had a perfect night at Perbacco. Our table of 5 was greeted warmly at the front and immediately shown to our table upstairs. Try for the chef table if available. Seats 8-10. Joseph's service was impecible. Wine delicious and perfectly served with attention to detail. I have to say the short rib and pasta appetizer was one of the best meals I have ever had. My scallop and artichoke salad was a delight. Desserts were perfect, the chocolate torte and the pumpkin cake - names don't do it justice. Recommend this highly.

Very authentic Piemontese cooking in the heart of the financial district. If you are looking for big redsauces, there are plenty of other choices. Perbacco has a terrific wine list focused on Barolos, but at all price points. The truffle dinner is expensive, but they shave the truffles right onto your plate. The plin was out of this world and the risotto just as good.

Perbacco is the restaurant for authentic Piedmontese fresh pasta. We sequenced our three pasta courses based on the sauces, light to hearty. We ordered single portions that arrived at out table split for two. We starting with agnolotti dal plin, a very small hand-pinched ("dal plin") filled ravioli served with with an intense roasted meat sauce, a pure sauce - no bits of meat. The sauce was very smooth, catching into the fold of the agnolotti. Our second course was tajarin, a handcut very thin, but sturdy, and very yellow tagliatelle served with a sugo, a non-saucy meat condiment as you might find in Italy but not here. Finally, the pappardelle, wide pasta ribbons topped with a ragu, a sauce filled with large pieces of tender roasted meat.

Four of us shared plates of wonderful food. We ordered 4 appetizers (I remember the soup, hamachi plate, a salad, and another), and 4 entrees (I recall duck gnocchi, a fish, duck breast, and another) plus a side of Brussels sprouts, a bottle of wine, and it was all wonderful. We added a dessert that we split, and the guys tried a couple of grappas from their fairly extensive list. The menu is great, and it was hard to decide on dishes because we wanted almost everything. It was a great meal, and a fun evening.

Not only is the food delicious, but the service is also excellent. The owner is seriously intent on surveying how well the clientele is enjoying the food and service. It is wonderful to see him, dressed in suit and tie, circulating throughout the restaurant throughout the evening, watching and appraising the waitstaff, the dishes, the wines, the diners' faces, the state of the table. It shows in every aspect, from the kitchen to the busboys.

It was so noisy and crowded that the server didn't hear one of the menu items ordered. It took about an hour for the appetizer and the missed menu item to arrive. Service was very slow, they were very busy, my water glass was never refilled, the butter was taken at some point, and the overall meal lasted 3 1/2 hours. While I was meeting an old friend and we had lots to catch up on, it became exhausting to sit there for so long.

We had a nice dinner, nice ambience and great service but honesty I was not "wowed" by the food. I was expecting more from the reviews I'd heard. My cocktail, a classic negroni, was beautifully prepared and tasted perfect however the risotto was just okay, the brussels sprouts a little too hard to my liking but more than anything they were boring. The presentation uninspired and not enough of the savory compliment of capers and shallots to meld with the flavor of the brussels sprouts. The main course of red wine braised short rib was again a little boring. The beef was tender but that's all. Lovely time with my friends and very good service but I expected more... sorry.
