A word from Pera - San Francisco
For freshness and flavor you can't go wrong by aiming for a classic Mediterranean cuisine appreciated around the world. At the heart of a Mediterranean meal is fresh quality ingredients down to the olive. Pera chooses to take that aim, and where possible we will use local farms, as well as locally grown produce. In selecting our lamb and beef cuts we strive to make grass feeding top on the list.

Add to this Pera's offering of regional breads and desserts made in-house with a full array of compatible California wines, Greek, Turkish, and domestic beers. And finally top it all off with Turkish coffee.

The array of Mediterranean appetizers will satisfy many tastes. The wine list is adequate with some reasonable choices offering excellent value. I enjoyed the delicious Sea Bream for my main course amid a lovely, warm setting. The service is highly attentive without being intrusive. When I left, the restaurant was filled to capacity.

Best Mediterranean food to date!! Went with 2 friends and we just kept ordering different plates. Incredibly delicious! Very attentive service from the beginning. I had mentioned in my Open Table reservation that we were going to see a show at 8 and they knew when we walked in. Made it to the show in plenty of time.

Pera has wonderful ambiance and a friendly, attentive staff. We enjoyed the liveliness of a Saturday night dinner crowd, and the food was delicious. We started off with appetizers: pita with tzatziki, zucchini cakes, and the flaming cheese! I had the Talas Boregi, which was yummy, and my husband had the lamb kebab plate. Dessert was my favorite: dried apricots stuffed with mascarpone cheese, and rolled in pistachios! There were no leftovers, we finished everything. We had a very enjoyable evening and will definitely be back!

We really liked the taste of food. It felt that quality of daily is good and etc.., yet the given food was too little of amount for all of us. We ordered same dish (the harem style breakfast) for five people, and it looked like food was provided for 3 people, and we kept asking for refilling bread baskets.

Another great dinner with the fine folks at Pera. They're a great neighborhood place, and good destination restaurant as well. I feel Turkish is the most refined of Middle Eastern cuisines and Pera just proves the point. Terrific, attentive service, outstanding food, very good wine list, delicious desserts. What more could you ask?

We had high expectations based on the glowing reviews from other patrons but we underwhelmed unfortunately. Our meal started off with really delicious complimentary bread and olive dip and an absolutely delicious traditional yoghurt drink but then the rest of the dishes we found quite bland (we ordered 4 starters and then shared an entree). Perhaps it is the Turkish style to be very sparing with spice but we felt it needed some omph. Perhaps it was an off day. The service and ambiance were lovely.

Salmon wrap - awesome. Dumplings - awesome and a little like shantung province Chinese ones. Lamb kebab was nicely cooked and a little under seasoned. But we steadied that boat. Fantastically attentive servers and helpers as lunchtime wasn't crowded. Loved it and will try other items on our next visit.

This is the 4th time we have been to Pera because we love it to so much. Parking is fairly easy, the servers are always extremely nice and friendly. The food is great, especially the chicken with coconut curry sauce and apples and currants. It's one of the dishes we always get. The soup and the zucchini cakes are great too. Great restaurant in Potrero Hill, and easy to get to from the freeway.

The kebabs were overcooked and dry. Nothing very uber Greek/Med. about what we ordered and the Greek Salad was very average. The steak was nicely cooked but I wouldn't come back here - too many other really good not "fair" restaurants in this City let alone on that street and neighborhood! The Service is strange - they are disorganized and scattered and seem almost "nervous." Weird place!

I was looking for a nice romantic dinner to spend with my husband. This was a great choice. The food was great and the staff was very attentive. I would have said the atmosphere was was perfect except the Giants game was playing in the background. Though I understand it was the World Series, I was looking for a place to escape the outside noise distractions. Plus, it seemed like the people attending the restaurant were also there to enjoy a meal with friends and not there to watch the game. It was not so much of a distraction that it iinfringed on a great evening. I would definitely say this place was a pleasant surprise and I would go here again.

I love Pera, and come here so often that my best friend says I should have a punch-card. It's conveniently located near my home, but is also on the 22 bus line, and parking is easy in Potrero Hill. The salads are fresh, the burgers juicy and the middle eastern food is very delicious. The staff is awesome! They opened their new wine bar recently, so it's fun to have a nice glass of wine at the bar, and order some tapas with friends. Don't miss the saganaki (fried cheese served dramatically on fire!) The steak is wonderful. The middle eastern platter (sampler) is a hit. Plus Pera serves freshly baked warm bread with a yummy tapenade. The food, service, atmosphere and overall experience is an excellent one!

Ok, we were there rather late, but if they couldn't cook anything, they shouldn't have let us in. The restaurant was completely dead (we were almost the only people there), so there's no "the kitchen is very busy" excuse. My dish tasted like meat in canned tomato sauce, and my friend's fish was cold and uncooked in the middle. I ate mine, but he refused to eat his, or to send it back (he's kind of annoying that way). On the upside, the waiter was very nice, and didn't charge us for it when he saw that my friend hadn't eaten it. However, while some people (not me) will go back to a restaurant with poor service but good food, I don't know anyone who will go to a restaurant with bad food just because the waiter is nice.
