Pera Mediterranean BrasserieVery Happy with Pera.Pera is a great place to take carnivores as well as fish lovers and vegetarians. It's also very convenient to Grand Central Terminal.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPera Mediterranean Brasserie reviewLive jazz band added to the lovely ambiance. Vibrant bar crowd. Steak and chicken Adana were perfectly cooked and delicious, as was the mixed green salad with feta. Service was great, staff very friendly. Will definitely return.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA unique, outstanding experienceThis was probably the most unique restaurant I have been to - ever. Having lived over 12 years in Asia, I felt the ambience was a combination of rustic and contemporary tea-house. On the contemporary side, I thought the young and somewhat hip staff was charming.
They recommend ordering 3 dishes per person (one vegetable, one seafood/sashimi, one meat), and sharing within the group. The plates are small, beautiful and delicious. With two people, you would have a chance
To try 6 dishes, and among 4 (our group) . . 12 dishes to try out!
It is someplace I'd recommend for a special event, as if you follow the 3 dishes/person recommendation, it will be @$40 or $50 a person . . . But for our own special event it was well worth it.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious & Authentic MediterraneanEverything tastes fresh, and is beautifully presented. A feast for the eyes and taste buds.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful experienceThe grilled whole fish was outstanding, as was the service. Loved the bread, the eggplant dip appetizer and the cheese-filled phyllo. On Sunday nights, there is a three course special for under $30 and 50% off all bottles of wine. OUTstanding!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWay too noisy. Despite havingWay too noisy. Despite having a booth we couldn't hear each other. Service painfully slow. Dinner took 3 hours.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMPersonnel were friendly asPersonnel were friendly as soon as we we entered. I asked for a table change and was immediately accommodated. We ordered a combination of appetizers, lamb shanks, and chicken Adana. The combination of spices added interesting and tasteful flavor and the portions were plentiful, yet just right. My friends ordered the prix fix and I ordered a la carte. I have eaten here many times, and will continue to choose Pera whenever I am in N.Y.C.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMtasty mealFood was very tasty but a little pricey for the portion served. While the chef's meze sampler offered up a 9 varieties, there was basically 8 tablespoon dollops of different dips with one of the samples being chopped up romaine lettuce. I would recommend ordering regular appetizers instead. The calamari was light and crispy but watch out for the hot peppers if you do not tolerate spicy. The octopus salad was very good and seasoned perfectly.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot!I loved everything about this place. All food ordered was outstanding. The only thing I had a problem with was that home fries were ordered to accompany steak and eggs, but our waiter never told us that it already came with home fries. So, we essentially paid for something that wasn't even eaten. Other than that, no complaints!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSatisfied!Great Greek salad, tasty and well presented entrees.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a fantastic dinnerWe had a fantastic dinner on Friday evening. We have dined at Pera before and always enjoyed our meal. On Friday evening they had a small jazz group playing, the food was very fresh and delicious and our server was extremely attentive. I had a special dietary request for this visit and they were very accommodating. Definitely recommend!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMNICE PLACE TO MEET WITH FRIENDSNICE PLACE TO MEET WITH FRIENDS - CAN'T WAIT TO TRY THEIR NEW PLACE IN SOHO - WITH THE ROOFTOP GARDEN4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food and good service!Delicious food and good service! It's one of the best restaurants weve been to in the past year.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMEnergetic atmosphere withEnergetic atmosphere with an interesting menus and good wine list. Service was attentive and pleasant!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, but the serviceGreat food, but the service is weird. They used to have a great great team, but now the servers are a little odd. Still great food!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food. Our waiterExcellent food. Our waiter was helpful in describing how some of the dishes were prepared.
We had dinner there and although the trio musicians were really good, the female vocalist was a bit too loud. There were 3 in my party at a small round table and I came out will a sore throat from speaking so loud.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat brunch near Grand CentralWe walked by Pera for a year or two, always remarking that the brunch menu looked very good. We finally dined there, and will definitely go back. For $21, you got to pick pretty much any entree on the brunch/lunch menu, plus a choice of five alcoholic beverages, and coffee (very good press, not regular brewed coffee). The bread was also very good, as was the rice pudding dessert we shared. The servers were friendly and attentive. I had the creative lamb eggs benedict, and the wife had the stuffed french toast. Highly recommend the place...just a block or two from Grand Central Station.11/24/2012 12:00:00 AM
