Diner Reviews
  • "Been there're many times and have never been disappointed with the food and service. Highly recommend the restaurant."
    Dined on 4/17/2014
  • " People were very friendly, the menu is interesting and a bit different. The portions are good size. It was not crowded, but it is a new location, just opened. "
    Dined on 4/13/2014
  • "I've been here several times. It's a favorite for when I am in the vicinity of Grand Central. The med cuisine is meaty, and spicy, and worth returning. "
    Dined on 4/14/2014
  • "but I just didn't think the food was sufficiently interesting to justify the prices. Mediterranean ground lamb, and ground chicken, are by nature sort of spongy in texture"

  • "Sunday night dinner was very enjoyable, good bottle of Turkish wine and a nice 3 course dinner special. Attentive service and nice decor."
    Dined on 4/6/2014
  • "$21 for coffee / tea, brunch cocktail and main entree is a great deal! definitely recommend the peach margarita and the smoked lamb benedict! the place is spacious and beautiful as well."

  • "It was for a company dinner with bosses and co-workers. I found this restaurant through Yelp and saw the great reviews so I decided to choose Pera over the other 2 awesome restaurants nearby. What a pleasant surprise! The ambiance was great, great staff, great wine list, great food.. not a single thing to complain about! They also have a brunch menu so I definitely will be going back with my friends in the very near future!"

  • "The food is quite good, but the noise level is ridiculous. I went to Pera for a business lunch, and at some point, thumping music became extremely annoying. By 12:45, we were having trouble hearing each other and went back to the office for tea. It was impossible to talk. This is a problem, that is fixable -- turn off the music."
    Dined on 4/2/2014
  • "I had not been to Pera for a year or so. Mi had a ice lunch with a friend and we could hear each other. The food is interesting, with delicious salads, and good fish. I woukd recommend Pera as a good place to lunch-- trendy, but not too much so."

  • "Food was fine for lunch but service was extremely rushed from the moment we sat down."
    Dined on 3/27/2014
  • "Great for lunch with business associates. Like the way its structured where it breaks up the noise level."
    Dined on 3/25/2014
  • "I still like Pera, but I do feel the food is not quite as good as it used to be. My meal was luke warm also. I know my taste hasn't changed so just wonder if they need to change up the menu or get some new blood in the kitchen. Just wasn't the same as I was expecting. I brought a group from work and had been talking about how much I liked it there. Oh well..."

  • "We had a reservation and had to wait 20 minutes for our table and the service was poor. Did not enjoy our meal."
    Dined on 3/25/2014
  • "We had an enjoyable time with friends. Everything was delicious and we had ample time to converse. It was great."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "Everything we had.. (And shared) was very good. We would have ordered more small plates as everything sounded so yummy but we wanted to leave room for our main dish... Would definately go back....!"
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "We had dinner fro four arriving around 8:00. Noise level was pretty high initially but we were able to hold conversation without difficulty. It got much quieter as the evening went on. We were expecting great food and the food exceeded our expectations. We had the meze sampler and calamari appetizers- both fantastic. We tried the signature lamb and the mushroom pappardelle entrees, both equally fantastic. Waitress was attentive, friendly and professional. I highly recommend this restaurant."
    Dined on 3/19/2014
  • "the service was excellent, the furniture comfortable and the food is EXCELLENT!! I love the chicken Adana pin-wheels for appetizers and their salads are DELICIOUS as a whole meal. Highly recommend this restaurant for a business lunch or any other occasion."
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "Great ambience and location I like the more authentic Turkish dishes. Others cater to the mid-town types with no taste for the real thing."
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "this is the perfect place to go if you don't want your usual steak and seafood places around Grand Central."
    Dined on 3/13/2014
  • "Restaurant week, and we waited a while after our reservations for our table. We chit chatted away. When we arrived at our table the manager himself was there laying down large plates of appetizers as an apology for our wait, gave us his card and told us to call him for our next visit. THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE. The wine was excellent, the staff was knowledgeable, food was amazing. I preferred the lamb over the chicken. There was a pear desert that I didn't get excited about until it was in my mouth dissolving, making love to my taste buds. A single girl could get used to this kind of sensation. Then I sat up, realized I was not alone, and I'd been satisfied by a fruit. I told my daddy about him, the pear in a cherry wine sauce..."

  • "good food, caring excellent service. interesting wines by the glass"

  • "Just stopped in for dinner and realized they were participating in Restaurant Week. Had a great dinner and my wife's lamb was so tender and delicious. I should have stopped before dessert, but I didn't and left very full. Great food, great wait staff and a place we will go back to again."
    Dined on 3/6/2014
  • "An OK place but nothing special. The service was good and the food fine, but it falls into that wide gap of 'not bad' and 'not great'."
    Dined on 2/27/2014
  • "We went during NY Restaurant week for the prix fix menu and also did the wine paring. A great deal for mid-town Manhattan. The food and the service were excellent. We loved the fact that the tables were not all jammed up next to each other like so many other places. Very comfortable."
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "My colleagues brought me here for a belated b-day lunch and we had a great time. The noise level was a little high, but it was due to a full house at the heart of lunch time. The waiters provided excellent service and the food tasted grate. We would return again!"
    Dined on 3/6/2014
  • "Had a terrific dinner. Started with roasted red pepper soup. followed by roast lamb on a bed of bulghur. dessert was a sliced pear in a yummy sauce. wine pairing was perfect."

  • "Appetizer - Mediterranean Meze Platter - This was very good, I enjoyed have a chance to sample different dips. My favorite was probably the sheep's milk feta with housemade eggplant jam. They work extremely well together, believe it or not. Main - Marinated Lamb “Shaslik” Steak - Also very good! Cooked to perfection (medium well) no lamb taste so I think it was seasoned very well. Served with rice that was pretty good as well. Dessert - Poached Winter Pear - Extremely sweet, almost to the point where it's nauseating. I admit I don't have much of a sweet tooth but this was a bit crazy. Service - Started off good but after we placed our orders we were attended to by only serving staff. Ambience - Decor and mood was excellent"

  • "The server was great at explaining the various choices and provided great recommendations. The Lamb was perfectly cooked and the pepered calimari with bacon was different but good!"
    Dined on 3/3/2014
  • "My lady and I decided on a dinner near Grand Central, and we picked this based off prior ratings and the type of food. The highlight of the dinner was the suggested wine pairings that was available with the dinner - each selection was hand-picked to go with our individual plates, and was an excellent accompaniment."

  • "I went to Pera for a birthday dinner with friends on a Saturday night. It was a quiet evening and I can tell that this place is more popular during the week due to its location. My friends and I ordered a selection of appetizers to share and each got an entrée for ourselves. Several of us had a chicken dish. I must say I preferred the appetizers over the entree. I was a little disappointed in the service as it was quite slow given how few people were around. I would go back here again as the menu was quite unique. If you are looking for a mediterranean restaurant in the area, it is the best I have tried to date."

  • "Great location for friends to meet in Manhattan. Great pomegranate cosmopolitan and good wine list, the calamari were about the best I had in USA. Good service and nice decor."

  • "i made this reservation with open table. when i tried to claim my reservation a very surly hostess told me i was already seated. Interesting, as i was still standing. and hungry. when i protested, Ms. Nasty, told me i would have to wait. maybe up to an hour! of course i didn't wait. and will never be back. pity, i have been there in the past and enjoyed it. too many other places just as good that appreciate my business. Jeff"

  • "I haven't had Mediterranean in a while, so this was quite a new experience and we ordered the tasting menu to try everything. Overall it was good even though I'm not especially a fan of lamb. Their portions are extremely large compared to the price so we were not able to finish most of our meal."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "best choice in the area; but you 'pay' for the location a la carte"
    Dined on 2/25/2014
  • "It is probably one of the best Mediterranean restaurants in midtown. The menu is innovative and creative based on recognized Mediterranean tastes."
    Dined on 2/24/2014
  • "We had the very affordable Sunday special three course meal before catching the train home. All three courses were of high quality and well-served. The mussels were so good, the broth could be a soup. Fortunately I had bread to capture the "dregs". Salmon was delicious and superior to the lamb Adana. So Pera can hold its own with a variety of cuisines. the atmosphere is perfect for conversation with the tables well-spaced."

  • "Very good food. Great service. Overall very good time."
    Dined on 2/21/2014
  • "Excellent service right from the start. Enjoyed the live music accompanying the evening. We were well-placed to still be able to converse while enjoying the scene. Hard to choose from a very nice menu. Food was great. Enjoyed three courses and will go back to explore further."

  • "Very nice meal, served well and timely for such a bussy night it was an accomplishment."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "I enjoyed the food and service very much until the end of our dining experience. The staff made an error on our bill in our favour. We felt uncomfortable cheating the restaurant and told the staff. They fixed adding significantly to our bit but correctly so. Then it took simply forever to get anyone to take our credit card and by this time we had long been ready to leave."
